Agreed. They’re Sephora-style swatches which never actually show true colors/formulas well. I hate all the swatches Sephora uses (and seems to demand of their brands) on their website.

I am so fucking excited for this and I don’t even smoke weed (or consume it in any way at all). I just fucking love Melt and what they do, the inspiration, the imagery, the products….Today I am full on wearing the Smoke Sessions palette and cant wait until this new collection goes live.

Weed, weed, weed. Beautiful palette, no thanks. That olive eyeliner, however. <3 And yes, just terrible swatches/photoshop, I keep thinking brands will get better with that, but nope.

4:20, As in the time to meet after school, and toke up a buncha weed? Melt is headlong into the marijuana imagery. They can even launch it on 4/20. UD level subtle. And a Lauren is totally right about the photoshopped swatches. I assume it’s a pot liner, no pun intended…

Idk why my autocorrect puts an ‘a’ before stuff, and I don’t notice. I think I had an ‘a gold’ instead of plain old gold today. Stupida!

Z Avatar

You know they’ve been doing this for years, right? The Haze stack was the first one I remember them really nodding to weed with, but maybe there were others before that?

It’s one of their things and not meant to be subtle at all…..obviously.

kjh Avatar

Yup. It’s like their trademark. But I still want to know pot liner or pencil? Both can be gel. I got the mustard pencil & it’s great. My pot liner skills need vast improvement.

Love these colors. Looks like only one shimmer? Maybe there’s more I can’t detect…excited to read Christine’s review to find out more! That green eyeliner…yes. Just goes to show there are are new colors for new purposes under the sun.

I’m just waiting (not so) patiently for my password… Unfortunately, they’re just selling the “bundle” today (and a few different t-shirts), and while I want the palette & both liners, I’m not exactly thrilled to be getting a pipe with it… I don’t have an issue with pot, the people who indulge, or even the imagery, but I’m not too thrilled about having drug paraphernalia shipped to me with my makeup order…

thirteenthirteen Avatar

lol those swatches. If they’re going to look exactly the same on every skin tone, why even bother having multiple skin tones?

Maggie Avatar

Wow…the promo photo looks like each shadow pan has embossed cannabis leaf. *shakes head* It’s a lark but it’ll get old fast–I’m not going to want that in my vanity drawer for years. Too bad, the color scheme seems nice.

kjh Avatar

I think it’s a cluster with seeds. Smoke sessions had a single leaf. Can’t really see it. Next, they’ll be putting CBD oil in their formula… It doesn’t bother me personally, but, as in other retail endeavors, I don’t think it makes sense to identify your product with something that can alienate part of your target market.

Nau Avatar

The cannabis industry is booming and growing, so it’s a smart marketing move to cater to a growing demographic. More and more people are appreciating what cannabis has to offer every day.

Emily Avatar

It’s pretty, but seems like a brighter version of Gemini.

I just want to complain that I’m never going to keep their palettes straight if they keep naming them after numbers (yes, I know the significance of this one). Twenty Seven, Four Twenty, what’s next?

Jane Avatar

I’m not here for this. I do like the colors, but it looks like a mix of the Smoked Sessions and UD’s Naked Honey. I just don’t really need or want these colors. I’m up for greens though, but brown, nah!
