Maybelline Silver Strike Color Tattoo Metal Eyeshadow Review, Photos, Swatches

Maybelline Silver Strike Color Tattoo Metal Eyeshadow ($6.99 for 0.14 oz.) is a bright silver with a metallic finish. Urban Decay Oz is darker and a powder product. Buxom Chihuahua is a bit darker. L’Oreal Primped & Precious is darker.

Silver Strike applies very smoothly and evenly; it has a a really creamy consistency that enables really good spread and application of the product without having to layer it or worry about it catching on itself.  It goes on mostly opaque, but it didn’t build up to full opacity. When I tested it, the color lasted for a full twelve hours without fading or creasing (no primer).  Because this has a creamier consistency, it can also be sheered out easily, if that is your desired look.  The more opaque it is, the more metallic and reflective it becomes.

I have every one ever released, including the LE.. and have had the originals since they first came out. None of them have dried up. I have noticed if I do not use a particular color for a long time it will get a very slight film on top, but a couple of swipes of the brush or finger and it is gone.

I’ve actually got this, but I haven’t used it yey. 🙂 I’m pretty sure it would crease on me if applied on its own, but I’ve thought of using it as a base, though I’m not sure what colours to go for. Any suggestions?

These things are seriously amazing. lol I only own about 6 or 7 and I really want to get the rest of them. This one looks really beautiful. Which is your favorite color tattoo?

When I first used this, it was harder to apply. If you’ve got a problem with this too (it may just be me, I don’t know) then try warming it up with a blow dryer. It goes on creamier and thicker, so that’s the way I use it now.

I have this GORGeous green one, but I don’t have a good brush for it. I have the Buxom cream shadow brush but it doesn’t seem to work as well for these. I tried applying with my finger but that resulted in a mess, any suggestions?

Oops so sorry I asked a question already answered. I’m glad I will finally have a use for the 242, as I’m too lazy to use a brush with concealer.

I really like the ELF eyeshadow “C” brush from the studio line. Only $3 so I don’t worry about the cream products damaging it. Perfect shape, just the right balance of fluffy and dense to apply, build, and blend the color tattoos.

i have a serious obsession with cream eyeshadow – i own nearly fifty from maybelline, mac, benefit, mufe, etc. i wear them daily, either on their own with urban decay primer potion underneath, or as a base for similarly colored eyeshadow to make it pop and last longer. i am probably going to pass on this shade, however, since i already own a great silver from makeup for ever. i hope you continue to post more reviews of cream eyeshadows!

Oh it looks gorgeous!! How does it compare to Sugarpill’s Tiara color wise? Do you think it’ll still look light and airy against my NC/NW 5 skin tone? Thanks in advance! 😀
