Maybelline Electric Blue Color Tattoo Metal Eyeshadow Review, Photos, Swatches
Maybelline Electric Blue Color Tattoo Metal Eyeshadow
Someone Turned the Electricity Off
Maybelline Electric Blue Color Tattoo Metal Eyeshadow ($6.99 for 0.14 oz.) is a navy blue with a fine, frosted finish. When sheered out, it has a darker, truer navy blue coloring, while when layered more heavily, it appears bluer. Urban Decay Evidence is less blue. MAC Naval Blue is similar but a powder product. Chanel’s Apparition is darker and less blue.
This shade didn’t apply evenly or layer well. I think this product would work just fine as an eyeshadow base, but it’s not something that I’d use on its own as a cream eyeshadow. Â I experienced some very light fading after twelve hours, which isn’t the norm for me when it comes to Color Tattoos. Â It wasn’t much, but it was there. Â The consistency of the product is thin, creamy, lightweight, and dries down quickly but not so quickly that you can’t blend out the color if you desire. Â This is a shade that is very, very common as a powder eyeshadow, so I’d probably opt for one of the many navy blue eyeshadows on the market, as many perform incredibly well.

Would this work as an eyeliner?
I didn’t like it as an eyeliner, because it has a tendency to skip!
Thanks for trying it, Christine!
I like the color a lot, actually. I don’t find it plain at all.
I haven’t tried to use this one yet, but when I swatched it I thought it swatched a bit patchy and uneven. Glad to know it wasn’t just me imagining things.
That’s a lovely color, and so is Gold Rush. I recently bought Maybelline Color Tattoo in Silver Strike and didn’t have any luck with it (so sheer and sticky feeling on my eyelids), so I’ll probably just stick with Urban Decay Evidence and MAC Deep Truth! Nice review!
hm, the way it applies is so…weird. It’s so dark and not even blue on the edges. what the heck? meh. I like the two color tattoos I have (teal & gold) but I’ll pass on this one.
do you think this could be used as an eyeliner?
It skipped for me as an eyeliner – not because it was dry, just a very patchy look.
I NEED this so I can use it to line my lower lash line for a pop of color!!
I wonder how this would look under M.A.C’s Blue Brown pigment.
I used a green cream shadow under that the other day and it looked awesome. It was one of Tarte’s shadow sticks, but I bet any would do…
And I bet blue cream would be really interesting too- thank you for your comment because I want to try that next!
I almost bought this the other day. Good thing that I didn’t buy this. If anyone is looking for a similar color, I highly recommend L’oreal infallible eyeshadow in Midnight blue.
I was happy to see a more neutral blue from the line, all the others are either very bright, or very green. I do use them primarily as bases though. Would make a wonderful base for a navy smokey eye.
I brought this eyeshadow and the gold rush color at Walgreens on a buy one get one 50% off sale. The gold rush applied patchy with too much glitter for me so I ended up returning it and this one unopened because I had similar colors already. My eyes to kill #1 navy blue with gold and sliver is much more pretty, so I didn’t need this, glad to see I made a good choice!
Darn it looks so good in the heavy swatch. I was the most excited about this color because I think a really intense navy cream shimmer would be awesome.
That’s really too bad that it does not build well…
I got great color payoff with mine. It’s a pretty blue to use on its own or as a base. I use my finger to apply versus smoothing it on with a brush.
I almost bought this the other day but I just got my Inglot palette in the mail and color #428 is a navy blue that looks really similar to the electric blue. I had also bought the Wet N Wild Blue had me at hello palette and the navy blue on the right side of the palette (crease color)is a definite dupe for the Inglot 428 eyeshadow. The Inglot has a bit more shimmer and pigment to it.
This colour still really appeals to me, might have to swatch it myself, or check out the dupes…
I own this color and use it as a base with a metallic navy shadow i own over top and it looks amazing. I never thought I would be one to wear any kind of blue eye shadow but this one was so pretty i had to buy it. I really do like it for a nighttime look.
This was such a huge disappointment. I actually returned it to CVS along with the fuscia one because they did not work at all: uneven and patchy application, and when I tried to blend them, they just moved around instead of blending, and I am not a novice with cream eyeshadows. It’s sad because it’s such a great color. Too bad the formulas are inconsistant. I have Tough as Taupe and Tenacious Teal and they’re awesome.
In the pan, it looks a lot like MAC Contrast.
