Marc Jacobs Beauty Blitz Glitz See-quins Glam Glitter Eyeshadow Review & Swatches

Blitz Glitz

Marc Jacobs Beauty Blitz Glitz See-quins Glam Glitter EyeshadowMarc Jacobs Beauty Blitz Glitz See-quins Glam Glitter Eyeshadow ($28.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a medium-dark plum with warm, brownish undertones and cooler violet, copper, and purple sparkle. It’s a loosely-pressed powder with a moderate amount of larger sparkle/micro-glitter, so while the base felt quite smooth, I could feel the bits of sparkle as well (as expected). I liked using a flat, dense brush to press the product onto my lid/lower lash line to get opaque coverage and minimal fallout. If I used my fingertip, I felt like I actually ended up with too much product that resulted in some fallout. When I blended out the edges, I didn’t notice fallout, but some of the sparkles pulled away from the initial placement, so if you had a very matte crease that you wanted to stay matte, you’d need to be very precise with your blending. On me, it wore well for eight hours with slight fallout over time.

Formula Overview

$28.00/0.12 oz. - $233.33 Per Ounce

The formula is supposed to add a "super-shimmering dimension to any look" with a "demi-pressed process" that has "high-impact dazzle with smooth glide and bold color." Per the brand, it can be "packed on for intense glitter or blended for a soft wash of sparkle." They recommend packing it on with a fingertip or using a flat, synthetic brush in a "gentle pressing motion."

I was surprised at how well they applied with a flat, synthetic brush, as I was able to apply all six shades using a flat, synthetic brush (MAC 247s and 242s) and gently pressed the product against my lid and have most of the product adhere without lots of fallout. When I pressed on an eyeshadow, I gently press and then pull in a direction (depending on what and where I'm applying). The formula yielded very shiny, sparkling color that was intense and bright while still offering pigmentation from the base color, too.

They have a very loosely-packed texture--they seem more like a 40-60% loose product, and it was important to use the included "pigment press" to keep the surface flat. I also found that a little went a long way with most shades, and I could see fallout becoming an issue if too much product was on the brush. I usually just pressed the brush gentle on the surface and that was good enough for coverage on my lid. They lasted for eight and a half hours on me before creasing faintly, and there was slight fallout over time but nothing that reached the point where it seemed distracting/noticeable to anyone looking at me. Frankly, I was extremely impressed with how easily they applied, adhered, and lasted on me while delivering on high impact dazzle and bold color. Using fingertips worked for getting even adhesion, but I have always found it harder to be precise with my fingertips on my lid, and I did feel like my fingertip was picking up more product than I needed so there was a bit more fallout when I attempted using my fingertips.

I have been hearing and reading a lot of buzz about these products since my return from Europe and most of the buzz has been positive. I will check some out in Spokane or when I go to Seattle next month. I love me a good glittery shadow as long as it doesn’t drop too much glitter during the day!

Beautiful! I’ll use the comparison portion you have to compare the other purple in this line. I have multiple dupes but I really love this formula. So I’m thinking of grabbing a few more during the Rouge sale.

Even though it *does* look like a beautiful violet plum sparkly goodness, I think I’d rather get CR Queen Mother instead or shop my stash, perhaps.

The fallout issue with all of these – even if “manageable” – is the deal breaker for me. I have UD Last Call, which the Dupes List indicates is MORE shimmery but it doesn’t have troublesome fallout so I’ll make do with that instead.

Thanks for the review!

Can you give a breakdown of how the formula compares with the Hourglass Scattered Light shadows? (different colours, I know!)

thanks!

This is a loosely pressed powder, whereas the Hourglass has a cream-powder hybrid feel. The textures are very different, IMO, as is the application.
