Makeup Look: Makeup Geek Smoky Eye
Makeup Geek Smoky Eye Look
I haven’t done a smoky eye in awhile, so I wanted to try it with some of the products I had tested recently as well as with some shades I’ve worked with in the past. Then, I wanted to experiment with pairing a warmer lip with a smoky eye, as my typical go-to is something cooler-toned, like a rosy beige or more bubblegum-like pink.
Eyes
I first applied Makeup Geek Rockstar Eyeshadow on the inner third of the lid and blended upwards over the tear duct, towards the brow bone. Then, I patted on Makeup Geek Prom Night Eyeshadow to the center of the lid to brighten and create a gradient towards the outer lid. I used Makeup Geek Corrupt Eyeshadow to darken the outer corner and crease, which created a smoky effect. I softened the crease color’s edge by applying Burberry Trench Eyeshadow to the brow bone. I defined the lower water line with Marc Jacobs Beauty Blacquer Highliner Gel Crayon, and then I used bareMinerals Skinny Dip Eyeshadow smudged on the lower lashine.
Face
Guerlain Parure de Lumiere Foundation (002 and 003) set with Guerlain Les Voilettes Loose Powder. I applied Stila Kitten All-Over Shimmer on the tops of cheek bones.
Lips
I applied Guerlain Gaetane Rouge G Lipstick all over the lips, and then I topped it off with Bobbi Brown Citrus High Shimmer Lipgloss for added shimmer and shine.

Gorgeous! And if your comment about those glosses being your favorite didn’t already tempt me to look up the colors and find that citrus was beautiful… now I am even more tempted to go out and get it!
LOL! 😉 The shimmer in them is SO amazing.
Yet another great look! 🙂
Thanks, Anne!
Very pretty look, Christine and you look really wonderful with your hair loose! My favourite MUG shadow is Moondust. It’s similar to MAC Patina, but more like brushed pewter.
Also, just as a weird aside. I truly enjoy your look photos, you look like a real person, not like some weird fakey photoshopped version of yourself.
Thank you so much, Wendy! That really means a lot to me! 🙂
Moondust is gorgeous. The whole darker end of the Makeup Geek eyeshadow range is quite lovely.
Bellisima! How sultry and beautiful!
Thank you, Sadra!
Beautiful look, especially love the eyes 🙂
Thanks, Liesbeth!
Super beautiful! Love it. You look stunning.
Thanks so much, Andrea!
What a lovely look! The colors suit you so well!
Thanks, Elle!
Citrus is magic!!! This post made me realize I haven’t worn it yet this summer!
You must remedy that situation ASAP!
I love it.
Thanks, Rikki!
I love it! Must file this away to try. Rockstar really brightens up your eyes. I was debating Rockstar while I was placing my MUG blush order and didn’t go for it. I have so many white silvery shadows that I haven’t used. I think you’ve changed my mind!. Most swatches can’t capture the iridescence but I see a bit of that pink/purple that everyone keeps talking about.
The iridescence is definitely very subtle – it put me in the mind of MAC Vex but less transformative.
Very nice but what eyebrowpencil do you use? 🙂
I use MAC Espresso + Brun with an angled brush!
Beautiful!!!!! I love the lip color! <3
Thank you, Shipra!
You look beautiful, I absolutely love this hair and makeup on you!
Aw, thank you 😀
Pretty! I have been thinking of picking up some MUG e/s for ages now! You look lovely!
What shades have been you thinking about?
Gorgeous look! I love the light reflectors on your lips
Thanks a lot, Gilbert!
YOu look fabulous!
Thanks a lot, Adeola Naomi 🙂
Really interested in trying out this brand. Looks great!
Worth trying!
I love the lip combo! I would not be interested in either of those products on their own yet together they look amazing! Do you know of a lipgloss that looks like these on its own, by any chance? If not, I will check the dupe list to see if I can replicate this with drugstore products.
Burberry’s Cameo Pink (http://www.temptalia.com/product/burberry-lip-glow/cameo-pink) is one of the more opaque, shimmer-heavy coral glosses, but it leans pink and it’s not quite as opaque. If you can start with a more opaque coral lipstick, the gloss just needs a lot of fine shimmer and sparkle in gold/coral/pink.
Cameo pink is also super pretty but indeed pinker and i like the orange tones in this look. I have Revlon Coralberry and Lover’s Coral maybe a golden gloss over them would work. I’ll try tomorrow!
Let me know how it ends up working out 🙂
Oooh! Such a pretty look!! Love it! THE MUG eyeshadows do seem very tempting now! The lip combo is gorgeous too!Thnx for (yet another!) review 🙂
Thanks, Dee! 🙂
I know you’ve reviewed quite a few of the MUG shadows in the past as well Christine – if you had to pick 5 fav MUG shadows what would they be? Trying to make it easier to pick some for myself lol. Thanks much in advance!
Help me help you! 🙂 Did you want the five to work together? More neutral or more colorful? 🙂
🙂 Nope they dont have to work together! More neutral than colourful but I love a pop of color so some colourful ones would be appreciated too! Ty!
Here are few of my favorites:
Prom Night
Glamorous
Country Girl
Moondust
Twilight
Appletini
Poolside
Mercury
Rockstar
You rock!! How do you even keep track of your unanswered questions. That was amazingly helpful. Thanks Christine. I’m sure most folks wouldn’t mind a tutorial for this look either hint hint 😉
The soft, smokey eye is lovely, Christine! xo
Thanks, Jen!
What a beautiful smokey eye look!
Thanks, Kelly!
I love this look; you look beautiful! I’m definitely going to order some MUG shadows (and probably some blushes) to start. Do you thing the eyeshadow starter kit is a good selection of shades?
I think the starter kit is! They are nice shades included in there. 🙂
I love this look. Do you apply your eyeshadow over a primer here on just as is?
No primer 🙂 I don’t typically use primer when testing wear of products (unless it’s the rare formula that doesn’t say it’s long-wearing and blah blah!). If I do use a primer, you’ll know (it will be listed).
Woww…. the color co-ordination is so good
Thank you, Faiza!
Beautiful look, Christine! I really love the lip color paired with the cooler eyes! Makes me want to go out and buy everything you’ve listed.
I’m so glad you decided to squeeze in these posts again. I love seeing all the looks you pull together!
LOL! You’re too kind. Thanks, Christina 🙂
Oh dear God! This is stunning! I am so going to try this out on myself.. even if it turns out half as good as yours! BEAUTIFUL Christine! 🙂
Let me know how it turns out for you, Divya! Thank you 🙂
