Makeup Geek Peach Smoothie Eyeshadow
Makeup Geek Eyeshadows ($5.99 for 0.064 oz.) are available in over sixty shades, and I have four of them to review in this post. The matte finishes are really soft, silky, but sometimes powdery, so on one hand, it makes them easier to blend, but on the other, there can be excess fall out during application, and sometimes they’ll sheer out if you sweep/blend them. Â If you use an eyeshadow primer and pat on the color initially, then blend, there shouldn’t be much fall out or sheering out. Â The frosts have a soft, buttery texture, great color payoff overall, and are very, very blendable–they’re just easy to apply and use. Over a eight-hour period, I only had fading issues with Peach Smoothie, while the other shades remained intact and none creased on me.
Peach Smoothie is described as a “light peach beige with a soft matte finish.” It’s a light-medium, peach-orange with strong, warm undertones and a matte finish. The texture is soft, a little powdery, and was semi-opaque (it tended to blend in with my skin tone, but it’s about 80% pigmented). It was somewhat buildable, but it’s a color I would use over an eyeshadow base to achieve more opaque color payoff, or else really pack it on. Kat Von D Geek (LE) is similar. Wet ‘n’ Wild To Muse and Carouse #1 (LE) is more orange. MAC Always Sunny (P, $21.00) is darker. MAC Samoa Silk (P, $15.00) is yellower. bareMinerals Stealth (P) is lighter. Inglot #368 (P, $6.00) is more orange, less matte. See comparison swatches.
Gold Digger is described as a “true metallic gold.” It’s a warm, yellow gold with strong, orange tones and a frosted finish. It had really nice color payoff, and the texture was soft, smooth, and buttery. Disney by Sephora Triton (LE) is yellower. Maybelline Gold Rush (P, $6.99) is a cream product. MAC Gaelic Gold (LE, $15.00) is slightly yellower. MAC Goldmine (P, $15.00) is a bit yellower. Le Metier de Beaute Goldstone (P, $30.00) is similar. See comparison swatches.
Cosmopolitan is described as a “rose gold with gold flecks and a shimmery finish.” It’s a medium, rose-tinged copper with a golden orange sheen and frost finish. It had rich, opaque pigmentation, and the texture was silky and soft to work with. MAC Expensive Pink (P, $15.00) is a touch pinker. Inglot #407 (P, $6.00) is similar. See comparison swatches.
Razzleberry is described as a “raspberry pink with gold glitter.” It’s a pinky-red with subtle cool, undertones with a matte finish and then has gold sparkles on that sit on top of the powder. It had strong color payoff if patted on, but the texture was somewhat powdery, so it can sheer out more easily if you tend to sweep the brush. It’s a shade that performed better when I was applying it to my lid than when I just swatched it. Â Sugarpill @#$%! (Red) (LE, $12.00) is matte, brighter. MAC More Amour (P, $21.00) is more muted. MAC Passionate (P, $15.00) is pinker. Inglot #382 (P, $6.00) is similar but has no sparkle. See comparison swatches.

hey christine! are you going to reveiw some more sleek products esp. there blush by 3 plattes? im really anxious please?
Hey Sadia,
I really don’t give out details about what I’m reviewing or not, because it can literally change based on what comes out today or tomorrow. I don’t have anything planned for the immediate future.
I don’t need anymore eyeshadows, I don’t need anymore eyeshadows, I don’t need anymore eyeshadows…
But when you do, here’s a brand to consider 🙂
Very pretty eye look, soft and delicate look.
Good to see affordable makeup from indie companies.
Slightly unrelated to this, feel like getting MAC Expensive pink and Cranberry, yum.
Thanks, Renu!
Aww, Peach Smoothie was one of the very first eyeshadows I ever reviewed on my blog. Feels like forever ago. But wow the real standouts are Gold Digger and Cosmopolitan, especially the latter. I’m sure I have a million similar shades but still, the peachy pink with gold combo never fails to make me swoon
How did you like Peach Smoothie?
Razzleberry looks goooood! I am glad it performs better than what you’d expect from seeing the swatch 🙂
Me too!
I actually placed my first order with MUG last night. I recently ran out of Soft Brown by Mac and was going to head out to the Pro Store to get a pan refill, but I’ve been hearing so much about MUG that I thought I’d give them a try. I posted on their Facebook page asking what would be a suitable dupe and they replied back incredibly fast with several options!
I ended up getting 5 shadows, plus a gel liner from them. Not only are their prices great, but I love that they offer pan refills for things! I travel too much to deal with anything other than a Z Pallet.
Anywho, the absolute best part? $2.99 shipping on the whole order! There’s nothing I hate more than going through picking out items, then finding out shipping on one lipstick is $8.95 or some nonsense— so this is great! If the products I ordered are as good as they seem, I’ll definitely be returning to grab even more stuff.
Yay! I love cheap shipping, too 🙂 When indie brands use USPS, I can understand certain price points since often they ship Priority flat rate (so sometimes it seems higher) – but I’m right there with you on hating to feel like I’m getting gipped on shipping!
Oh yeah! I definitely give way more leeway to indie brands for obvious reasons, but when a huge company like Macy’s is trying to stuff it to me on shipping. . . side eyes abound!
LOL. You don’t even know how angry I get when I spend over say $50 and I don’t get free shipping. Like one of the MOST painful things is paying shipping at Hakuhodo (for brushes), because there’s NEVER free shipping, no matter how much you spend!
I really like Cosmopolitan and Gold Digger!
Yay!
Yay! Thanks Christine for reviewing them, I have a couple of MUG eyeshadows cocoa bear, creme brûlée and I love them! I’m planning to buy some more but I’m trying to built my list. I heard their black eyeshadow is the blackest in the market and I can’t wait to get it. I guess I need to but a couple more unii palettes to put my eyeshadows. I hope you’ll get to review some more eyeshadows from them!
Beautiful eyeshadows. I need to try some Makeup Geek products.
Do you happen to know if these are the same size as MAC pans? They look like they might? Has anyone tried popping them in a MAC refillable palette?
Yes, they fit in a MAC palette!
When you say they fit in a MAC palette do they fit in the 15 pan inserts?
Yes, they fit into a MAC palette and 15-pan palettes!
YAY , at last you reviewed make up geek products. i dont take anyones’s word on makeup but yours. BTW, how do you get the time to reply to everyone;s emails , do all the reviews? you are so focused . wishing temptalia many more years in the makeup community . Im your die hard fan christine , the kind of beauty you typify , the kind of focus and dedication you have and the unabashed and matter of fact love for make up . Your success is because of your talent and more than that your self confidence. Yes , its makeup , I love it , I want to share that with the world and Im not ashamed of it . BTW i felt bad for the brickbats you received for the GUY BOURDIN stuff you reviewed. Despite starting an intelligent conversation, a very erudite and professionally written review , with disclaimers and links for added info , there were people that were vindictive . You just review the makeup and that;s your job . Right /wrong, good bad inspiration is inspiration and you didnt make the makeup, you are just airing your views. Ditto the case with animal testing. I understand and admire the fact that some people dont want to use products that have been tested on animals . You are just testing the product and as followers of a makeup blog it’s perfectly fine for us to tell you our thoughts but we need to make that call and decide what we want to buy .
Ah, well, I don’t have any other hobbies to take away from it, I suppose! It’s usually eat, sleep, blog for me!
Thank you so much, Bishakha for your very kind words! 🙂
I’m so glad you’re reviewing these, Christine! Thank you! Cosmopolitan appeals to me most, but I already have the Inglot dupe. I’ve heard that Prom Night is a dupe for MAC Satin Taupe. As soon as that baby’s back in stock, I’m placing my first MUG order!
I am so glad you’re doing reviews for Makeup Geek! I love the range of shadows and they blend beautifully. I’ve had them in my purse when I’ve gone to the Mac Pro stores and Neiman Marcus (YSL Counter), and the sales people have been so impressed they’ve asked to swatch them and where I got them.
You can’t go wrong for the price of these, and they have quite a few colors that are Mac Dupes! Great review….love to see more!
I really like that you are starting to do reviews on indie company products. I makes me really want to buy stuff from them and know they are out there. I was going to place an order with Makeup Geek the other day until I got surprised with IMATS tickets for LA so I gotta hold out. But, that means I get to see the other reviews you have on her products (assuming you have more…) 🙂
Thank you for this review, Christine! I WILL be getting ALL of these colors.. and more!
I have been patiently waiting to make a MUG purchase, as I don’t have many MAC shadows and want to get as many dupes from MUG as possible. Does anyone know where to find the most comprehensive list of MAC dupes? I have heard nothing but amazing things about MUG and can’t wait to get my hands on them! 🙂 Thank you again!
Finally! A fantastic youtuber makeup line thats affordable! This excites me very much. Hey Christine, have you thought about reviewing EM (Michelle Phans) cosmetic line?
Hi Coco,
Sorry, I don’t have anything planned at this time!
Cosmopolitan looks soooo good!
How does the size of these compare to MAC pans? Just wondering if they’d fit into a MAC palette insert?
Yes, they fit in a MAC palette!
Thank you Christine so much for reviewing some of these shadows. I have heard so many good things about them but have been kind of skeptical about purchasing them but after seeing your reviews I may have to finally give them a try.
I was in Vegas at the Inglot store in the Caesars Palace for the first time. A sale associate helped me out. I went with the 10 pan freesystem palette the girl like I need two more colors. When I mention that there was an eyeshadow from the Makeup Geek line in Razzleberry if she had something close to it. She showed me 495 and 50. She told me the 495 is have more of the pinkish red with gold shimmer in it and the 50 slightly darker with gold shimmer. I end up getting both colors. Before I left she recommend me to watched Makeup Geek videos and she also mention to follow Temptalia blog, both ladies do good reviews on products that they try out. When I got home I google your blog and bookmark it.
Wow! She was so nice to recommend my blog to you 🙂 I am so glad you checked it out and bookmarked it. Thank you, Jeannie!
I found your blog because of a sales associate at the beauty boutique at Shoppers Drugmart in Canada recommended it to me after I had a bad experience with a product I bought, she said I should definitely check out your reviews 🙂
Thank you! <3
Hi Christine!
Quick question, do you happen to know if makeup geek’s eyeshadows fit into MAC’s 15 pan palette?
Yes they do! 🙂
I love Marlena… Her website forum is a wonderful place for makeup lovers, her videos are helpful and she is such a sweet and honest person. It is really fantastic to see that she has created a brand that is both affordable and the quality is good… I have recently picked up a few of her items and am not disappointed (the gel liners are AMAZING)… Glad to see some reviews on her MUG line!
so so pretty! especially the eye look you did with them, really lovely. I haven’t tried this brand before but they seem pretty good at least for the frosts 🙂
Hello Christine, i ‘m really happy that you did a review on MUG. I own more than 20 eyeshadows and i found them amezing. Easy to work with not expensive, they answer me really fast. It’s a pleasure early in the mornig. Could you do another review of some ohter and put them in the section “swatch ” ? I love to compare and avoid to buy always dup!! so thanks to you. Have a nice day ( From Belgium)
These are gorgeous! As I was looking through them, I kept saying they were prettier and prettier. Complete with “Ooo!!!” at the beginning of the sentence. Definitely putting these on my wish list!
Is Makeup Geek only available online? I live in Canada and I don’t think that any of the stores carry it.
Just online as far as I know! I think I read on their Instagram or Facebook that they were looking to open a storefront but not sure where or when that would happen!
Sarah, they ship to Canada. Just check their website. I’m in Canada and have ordered from them several times with no issue.
I’ve been eyeing makeup geek eyeshadows for a while but I am indecisive on whether I should buy them or perhaps inglot since they have the same price. What would you recommend?
I would just get the shades I liked best – I think both brands are great but they’re not the same shades on both sides!
