I actually really like the look of these. I think they both have pretty shades and they’re both well balanced palettes. However, this seems really late in the game. Like brands are moving towards cooler offerings, and green seems like it will be the “it” color this year. This feels dated.
I’m not feeling it.
There’s nothing wrong with them per se (well, Venice doesn’t look too great, but eh) but I really don’t see anything to get excited about… nice, safe (repetitive? boring?) easy to wear tonal shades in cheap, tacky looking packaging and a fairly small amount of product overall?
Nah, not for me.
I’m so confused by the mirror situation in this picture… maybe it’s because I’m sick, but I can’t make the reflection make sense!
It’s clear plastic (so still a bit reflective), but it’s not a mirror!
Oh, man. My poor sick brain was so confused. Thank you!
I hope you don’t have what I call the fake flu, a/k/a viral syndrome or influenza like illness. I was so confused, that I lost some m/u and Misplaced my entire life. Should have just layer down and done nothing. I took care of a coworker, whom I found on my porch at 3A, shaking her fist at the moon and arguing with people who weren’t there! It’s like dementia, omg. Get better soon.
Hahaha, you’re not alone! This was messing with my brain, too! Thanks for the clarification, Christine! 🙂
Those dark mattes don’t look too good…
Yawn.
I’ll “see” your yawn and raise you a “zzzzz”. These look like all the other warm and red/orange toned palettes I can’t wear. Nice and affordable for those who gravitate toward these shades but an easy pass for me.
Not bad. But not exactly blowing up my skirt either. Champagne & Roses is definitely looking more interesting between the two offerings.
Makeup Geek was kind enough to send me these palettes for review purposes. This was my first time trying out their formula. I was pleasantly surprised. The top layer of the powders is patchy but once it is rubbed off the powders blend beautifully IMO. I swatched these and was kinda let down but when I used them on my eyes I loved the results. Champagne & Rosé is probably my fave of the two.
Thank you so much for this information! I still don’t own anything from Makeup Geek but I didn’t want to start with the brand on a possibly bad note—I was just concerned because of the extremely low price tag compared to the rest of their line. I love the colors in Champagne & Rose and have been sorely tempted to buy it!
More warm-toned palettes… eh. The layout makes the pans look tiny too – could’ve have fit so much more there!
Meh. Nothing exciting in terms of color or quality here. The darker mattes look kind of rough.
Is it just me, or is MUG struggling with an identity crisis.
I really haven’t payed much attention to MUG (or popular makeup in general) until recently and I’ve started watching Marlena’s YouTube channel and it seems like she has had a really horrible couple years, including being in an abusive relationship. She admits that her brand has really suffered from neglect. She’s also released a new clothing line so I think it’s fair to say that she is having something of an identity crisis.
I think these are really nice. If I didn’t already have these shades 5 times over, I might pick up the Bellini palette. There’s a good range of light, mid, and dark tones, which I appreciate. I am more looking forward to her new singles launch. But for the price of these palettes and assuming the same good MUG quality, I think this is a good buy for someone who doesn’t have these color schemes.
The design of these palettes is not my favorite, but I love the shades. I bought the champagne and rosé palette. Can’t wait to play with it!
Will you be reviewing the new Makeup Geek single eyeshadows?
Sorry, I don’t have them.
These are really nice, but far too warm for me.
This packaging looks eerily similar to Lorac’s palettes – at first glance, I thought that’s what they were!
You are so right! That’s why I thought to myself that they looked so familar.
I was considering getting either one of these, but then decided to get individual Makeup Geek shadows instead. I feel like this is for good for someone who maybe doesn’t have many palettes or eyeshadows (like myself), but would like something with wearable colors and great formula.
Why would they go here? Have we not enough warm palettes, seriously.
