Make Up For Ever Look: #21 Turquoise Aqua Cream

Make Up For Ever Look: #21 Turquoise Aqua Cream

You know what’s frustrating? When you do your makeup, think it’s rockin’, and then you see it in close-up photos and can’t figure out why it didn’t translate!  But anyway, it’s all part of the journey–the learning, that is–so why not share it with you despite some imperfections?

How’s your Monday going? I really love Mondays, but today feels a little slow–normally so many things are happening on Monday for me!

You will need the following…

For eyes, start by applying Stay Don’t Stray as your eyeshadow base all over the eye area with the 249. With the 249, apply #21 Turquoise aqua cream all over the lid area. Using the 239, apply #101 eyeshadow on the inner third of the lid. Next, apply #171 eyeshadow on the middle third of the lid. With the 239, apply #93 eyeshadow to the outer third of the lid and brush into outer crease. Define the crease by applying #159 eyeshadow with the 226, lightly blending outwards and upwards to fade to the brow bone. With the 239, apply #93 eyeshadow into the crease directly and then blended towards the outer corner and lid. Blend #101 eyeshadow with the crease shade and highlight the brow bone, then light overlay the edge of the faded crease area with #171 eyeshadow. Bring everything together by applying #7L eyeliner on the lower lash line and #171 eyeshadow lightly patted below the lower lash line with the 219 brush. Finish by sweeping lashes with Opulash mascara.

For cheeks, apply #5 Peach aqua cream on the apples and upper cheekbones with a stippling brush.

For lips, apply Beachbound lipstick first, and then layer Flurry of Fun lipglass for a complementing lip.

Nikon D90 with a dedicated macro lens – I think it’s a 60mm Nikkor lens. I remember I was going to get a different one, but they were sold out so I ended up getting the big daddy macro lens instead, LOL. That’s what impatience gets you! But I love it dearly!

Or I could just get off my lazy butt and walk two feet to find out! It is indeed a 60mm Nikkor macro lens – on Amazon @ http://amzn.to/aMzDyA

haha! i love that you don’t d*ck around when it comes to shopping – that’s a nice camera! i have the canon xsi which is good – but it’s like half the price of the d90. i really want to pick up a good macro lens so i can quit borrowing them from my shutterbug buddies – but i keep spending too much on makeup and music equipment! your photos always looks so nice and pro though – it’s one of the things that attracted me to this site in the first place. production value goes a very long way to landing readers.

I was gonna get a Tamron 90mm lens, I think, but they didn’t have that, or the other Tamron macro lens… ah, well, it was completely worth it. Ironically, though I have no issues with third-party lenses, I only own Nikon lenses.

If there’s one lesson I’ve learned (and still keep learning), it’s that I’d rather just fork over for the quality item than try to make-do with something cheaper, because I always end up getting the quality item sooner rather than later!

Didn’t translate?? Perhaps you are mad, Christine, as this look IS “rockin”! I love it–all the complex blues and greens are stunning, especially the lower liner colors. Thanks for posting it!

Aww I LOVE this look! I think the eyes look amazing and I really like the lip/cheek combo too.

Today’s going pretty slow for me too, but I’m usually pretty slow to start on Mondays… lol.

It looks SO PRETTY! I can see the blending “issue”, but I love the colours together, esp. the lid and undereye. Keep up the great job!

Hi Christine, what do you think to the Benefit primer your using at the moment? I’m curious how it compares to the other common products – Paint Pot, UDPP or TFSI

Christine, you did an awesome job lining the upper lid! 🙂 It really does make a difference in the look and ties everything together. I know you mentioned some time back that your lids get irritated when you line them so I hope you had no adverse reaction.

Hey, have you ever waxed or threaded your eyebrows? Just curious.

Hi Christine! I love your site, it’s the first thing that i check every morning, even before my bank account or my email. 😛

Quick question: I have been trying to find a perfect nude-pinkish lipstick. Been to mac store a few times, but can’t seem to find what I am looking for. I am very happy with my lady gaga and cherish mac lipsticks. When I went there the other day, they had me try “hue”, but it just seemed way too light for me. I love the texture and how cherish covers up. I would like something like that but with pink undertones. Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance.

And oh, i love you! 😛

Lovely Christine! Can i achieve this look using sweet and punchy, shimmermoss and humid from to the beach collection?

I love your blog. Your colors are always interesting & pretty. I like how you list all the products that you use. It would be really great if you would show photos of your make up at each step. That would really help with color placement.
Thanks

I love your teal green looks, but what really stands out to me on this is your cheeks. They completely made my mouth drop, so gorgeous!! I hope it will translate as well on my skin, I may not be able to resist buying it!!
