Make Up For Ever: Eyeshadows #83, 147, 60, 81, 308 (Blues)

Make Up For Ever #83 Eyeshadow

Time for some blues, methinks!

  • #83 is a aqua-blue base with greenish-gold sheen and soft blue shimmer. I thought this color was incredibly pretty, and it is probably one of my favorites from all of the eyeshadows I purchased!
  • #147 is a dark, grayish-brown blue shade with low shimmer–kind of more of a satiny feel. It’s too similar to #81 to merit owning both, in my opinion. I’d say stick with #147 over #81, as well, just because the pigmentation and smoothness is better in #147.
  • #60 is a ultra deep matte navy blue with just a hint of green in its tone (it just seems to run a little green-blue rather than deep dark blue). Smooth and soft, richly pigmented.
  • #81 is a shimmery, dark grayish-blue base with brighter blue sheen and shimmer. I found this one wasn’t as pigmented as I’d like it to be. It was a little lighter, sheerer.
  • #308 is a shimmery, dark blue with brighter blue sheen. It reminded me of MAC Deep Truth eyeshadow with less frostiness.

Which of these are your favorites?

Candee, the MUFE boutique in ny mails out products :). Shipping is 8 bucks.
Those colors are to die for. I need to get more mufe shadows now that I have an empty palette that I just bought. I have to do research before I go to sephora, though. Whenever I go on a whim, I get overwhelmed with all the mufe colors and I walk away empty handed. lol

Christine, I don’t know if you’ll read this comment, but I think by accident you keep copying the “sadly, it chipped coming out of the package (I guess only 1 out of 47 chipping is good, though!)” because I could tell it happened to the coral colour a few days ago but… You’ve copied it at least once on every other MUFE colour post! Just a fyi, sorry if I’m wrong and you HAVE been meaning to do that.

Hey Christine, you are SO fantastic for doing this. I’ve been wanting to get more into MUFE for quite awhile now and you so rarely see swatches of the pressed colors, which is what I like best! Quick question — at a glance, how does #83 compare to Mutiny pigment?

Christine Avatar

Mutiny is a little bluer. I’d say #83 as a bit more teal/green to it, so they’re not super close dupes. I think #83 has the green sheen/cast to it, which is what makes it differ from Mutiny. The base is pretty similar, though.

I’ve got the 83 too and i really love it ! it’s the dupe of the aqua blue, in the new summer guerlain palette. it’s really the two same.

Hi Karen,

A good MUFE shadow = a good MAC shadow. MUFE has more consistency across their eyeshadows, whereas MAC can be very hit or miss (at least in the past few years). I believe MAC does better shimmers/frosts than MUFE most of the time, though! MUFE mattes are really the highlight of their eyeshadow range, IMO!

I’m surprised you didn’t talk about shade #167… it’s a gorgeous bright blue – it was the first MUFE e/s I bought. It’s super bright and totally gorgeous… you should totally check it out! 🙂
