Make Up For Ever #25L Aqua Eyes Eyeliner ($19.00 for 0.04 oz.) is described as a “dark chocolate brown.” It’s a medium-dark chocolate brown with warm, reddish undertones and a matte finish. If it looks familiar, you may be familiar with it when it was launched as a limited edition shade named G*psy. Now, it’s part of the permanent range of Aqua Eyes. Chanel Brun-Teak is similar but less red-toned. MAC Brownborder is also similar. Urban Decay Corrupt is browner with less red. Tarina Tarantino Locket Book is warmer, more golden, less red. Tarina Tarantino Puppeteer is closer but shimmery and not as dark.

It felt, looked, and wore the same as G*psy did, so if that was a favorite for you (or you missed out), you can have the same experience with #25L.  It’s fairly opaque in one stroke, and it’s very buildable without getting patchy or looking uneven.  The pencil has a slightly waxy and creamy consistency that allows it to glide on evenly and easily without pulling or tugging on the lash line.  I recently tested this, and it lasted for ten hours without smudging or migrating; there was some faint thinning of the lie, but it seemed fully intact at the eight-hour mark.

How does this compare to the wear and useability of YSL Dessin du Regard Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil in #2 Patent Leather Brown? I was unhappy with Whiskey by Urban Decay’s eyeliner, it was difficult to get it to be opaque on my waterline. Thank you.

Can you wear this on the waterilne? I think brown looks better than black on me (less harsh), but I have a hard time finding a brown that goes on dark/opaque on the waterline.

Thanks!

I’m not going to get it because I already have UD’s Corrupt, but I love these shades of brown. I think they’re perfect for blondes like me with light eyelashes. I think Corrupt has more shimmer though, this looks fully matte.

This is a beautiful rich brown! My favorite is still the Giorgio Armani Smooth Silk pencil in #2 though so I have so far had no desire to stray…yet! 😛 I do love the Aqua Eyes formula though–it’s definitely one of my very favorite formulas!

Great review Christine!
This is by far by favorite brown eyeliner. Whenever i want to wear a simple daytime look or a brown smokey eye I use this pencil and it lasts ALL day. Before purchasing this, I wore Whiskey from UD…which is great and in my opinion, quite similar to this….but, Whiskey tends to smudge on me. This is the “must have” matte brown eyeliner I’ll be reaching for from now on =).

I’m wondering if this line would work for me….It seems like the better reputation a liner has, the worse it works for me, though. UD 24/7 somehow migrates all the way up to the creases in my upper eyelid and Colorstay does the same thing! (And UD is always recommended as the HG of ‘won’t go anywhere’ eyeliners!!!!) 🙁
