MAC's MAC Me Over Contest - Be the Face of a Fall 2011 Campaign

MAC’s MAC Me Over Contest – Be the Face of a Fall 2011 Campaign

The competition will launch has launched at www.macmeover.com on November 15th, a U.S.-based competition, to find a real-person face for MAC’s fall 2011 color collection.  You will have to be over 18!  To enter, one must submit a photo or video of themselves using the phrase, “MAC me over because…” and completing it with “style, heart, and soul.”  Entries will be accepted through December 20th.  Entries will then go through a judging process led by James Gager.  Six winners will be flown to NYC to be photographed for the campaign, with this image showcased globally.

No purchase necessary. Void where prohibited. The M∙A∙C Cosmetics “M∙A∙C Me Over!” contest is sponsored by M∙A∙C Cosmetics. Open to legal residents of the 50 U.S. & D.C., 18 or older as of date of entry. Starts at 12:00:01 a.m. ET on 11/15/10 and ends 11:59:59 p.m. ET on 12/20/10. For Official Rules, visit www.macmeover.com

“People sometimes have the perception that you can only get crazy, intense makeup from MAC,” said Gager. “But we can also give you the most flattering makeup possible. We wanted to showcase the versatility of the brand, and it sounded like fun to have lots of people tell us why they’d like a MAC makeover. We’re hoping we get entries which truly reflect our creed: all races, all ages, all sexes. This contest isn’t about who is the greatest looking — it is about who has the best style.”

While most MAC projects are “dates, rather than full-time commitments,” quipped Gager, he hopes to make the contest an annual occurrence. — WWD

Ugh I almost want to complain to MAC about this. It’s bad enough that we get upcharged (even though our dollar is about par?!?) in Canada when it’s a Canadian company, but now we can’t even enter contests? Sigh.

Aside from being only a US competition (which is odd considering their creative direction is from the Islands with Canadian schooling)…the whole “who has the best style” line is a little odd; style is individual…to each his/her own. Can it really be “judged”?? I hope it just ends up being about a great makeover.

all races.. all sexes ..all faces..diversity..bla bla..AND US ONLY ? REALLY?r u kidding? i wont join this, and also protest this..this is called DISCRIMINATION!!!

That is kind of a neat idea. To my knowledge, MAC doesn’t seem to do such interactive things very often. Too bad that us poor Canadians can only watch from the sidelines.

Well, I’m not from the US (not even Canada!), so I won’t be able to participate, even though I totally want to.
I guess that they don’t want to pay the plane ticket prices for international participants?… Still doesn’t explain the fact they don’t let Canadian customers participate. Very weird indeed.

hey christine… i read through the website and the official rules and I didn’t see anything about ending it with “style, heart, and soul.” Did you receive your instructions printed above directly from mac?

Katie Avatar

Perhaps this contest is more like a trial run. Hence, why it’s only open to those of us who live in the US. Maybe we’re just the guinea pigs, so to speak. If it’s as successful as I’m sure they’re anticipating, it’ll probably be open to international fans next time.

this is awesome! im going to enter this! i read the rules online, i dont think you have to finish your statement with “style, heart and soul”. i believe the only thing you have to do is start it off with “mac me over because…”

Judy Avatar

I entered this. I love MAC & would love to have a chance to have a makeover from them. I know there is no way I will ever be considered for it, but why not enter for the fun. Good luck to all that have entered.

What a travesty. Bad enough the bizrate bonus surveys are not open to Canadians, now this? I am oficially going to boycott MAC until such a time as they recognize the value of their Canadian Client Base. Did this company not start out in Canada? How can they continue to ignore us like this? Bad Form MAC! Bad On You!

Thanks so much for that date. I have been looking all over the place for a date or time or something. Can’t wait to find out who won. 😉

Brooke Avatar

Does anyone know who won and/or what collection they will represent? It’s not the MAC & Milk collection is it? Those models don’t exactly look representative of the “typical MAC gal”….. Thanks!

Fall collection: This just came out.. One of the girls that did win was my niece Rachel Martinez. She is beautiful even without MAc makeup. She was excited and had a wonderful experience while in New York for the shoot.. GOOD GOING RACH!!

I sent my photo in, but never heard back. Oh well. Guess I won’t be the face of a Fall collection. I do hope this collection will rock with new colors and items.

I started using the mac line of make-up because of a co-worker, I always thought I had great skin and didn’t need to wear anything. But then here came the 40’s and my skin changed so drastically that i was getting so self-conscience about the way I looked and felt. So I went to make parties and I explained to the staff that I had very sensitive skin of course they assured me that their products were made for me and wow to my surprise they were not!! I also explained that I was a MAKE-UP VIRGIN and I really needed something that I could do and it not take all morning to put on, that’s when my co-worker suggested that I go to the Mac Counter at Hanes Mall in Winston-Salem. So I reluctantly did and I went through all of my reasons as for stated about my skin and how I was a Make-Up Virgin and the sales person was tickled but she was very aware of all my issues. So she gave me a Make over and as they say the rest is history. I can’t believe it took so long for me to realize that make-up is not a cover up it is an enhancer. I neglected to say that I was with my Honey at the time and he always makes feel beautiful and he told the young lady to not hide my beauty just enhance it so that she could feel better about herself I thought that was the sweetest statements that a man could make and she did just that and I have so many compliments about how natural it looks and how it makes other Make-Up Virgins want to try it. So thanks for making me a believer and life long customer.
