Relate far better to Nars Man Ray than I do to this….at least for packaging. But, were I younger, boy I’d do that haircut. Who knew surrealism would become a thing in m/u?Those product lids may be beyond my personal pale, but the color story is quite interesting. I see the sex as distanced in Man Ray, and in your face, with Rossy. Now, to google her. I ought to be used to not knowing about current muses, given my age. C’mon Besame Snow White 1937.
Pass…except red glitter may be fun.
Oh I love Rossy de Palma! She has always been one of the most emblematic personalities, one of Pedro Almodóvar’s beloved muse. I wish the quality of the collection to be poor, (LOL!) because my poor wallet, will get into trouble.
I love her work as well, quite provocative use of color. I have a few bits and bobs of MAC, but I could easily buy a lot from this collection. I am not an LE person, I don’t stand in line for any cosmetic item, but I might pull an all nighter to get this release.
Love the clever promo imaging, but it feels more whimsical than surrealistic. I applaud the collaboration nonethless. It is definitely one of those collections where I would need to physically see the packaging.. if it is garish, I would take a pass. Looking forward to reviews!
IDK, but the eye and lip looks are scaring me
*Fawning*! Yes to this collection. It speaks to my 80’s Punk self. I really DID used to do graphic black and white or Siouxsie Sioux eye looks back in the day. Also employed shades such as those found in the Colors On The Verge palette, too. Vivid draped cheeks were my thing. Deja Vu all over again!
I have had much the same feeling. I know I can’t pull off the Siouxise Sioux eye looks anymore, but I really like this collection. I am not really into MAC, I have a few lipsticks and eye shadow singles, but I just love Rossy.
Same here on not being into MAC, but if the shadows are good I’ll likely purchase, the lip & shadow compacts. So cute and great colors.
I like the packaging, but the products don´t wow me on first sight.
I find the idea behind the packaging ingenious…to recreate her features (eyes, cheeks, nose and lips) using the packaging itself and the shifting images on it. I will pass as the shades are not flattering on me. The eyeshadow and lip palettes would make some great collector’s items though.
Interested in the finishing powder actually. Have been looking for a good pressed version to take with me and am curious. Never used MAC’s face powders before. Anyone have an opinion on their pressed translucent powders?
Hi Maggie. I love MAC’s face powders. I prefer Studio Fix in my shade over the translucent, but I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
Is this for real?? It this truly gorgeous. I hope it reviews well.
Wow. This is very unexpected. I love Rossy. I am glad MAC is doing something interesting for a change. I love the compact with her iconic nose. I love the gold packaging. I hope the contents are good.
That is some amazing packaging!
This collab seems really cool. I don’t know what use I’d have for a cream color base, but I love the idea of having a compact with a nose on it. Especially because my nose is my least favorite facial feature, it seems like a (good) challenge.
I was thinking the same thing! I’ve never really figured out how best to use CCB’s, but I just love the palette; it’s so unusual. And FWIW, looking at your pic, I think your nose is very pretty 🙂
It really is! It’s exciting to see such unusual packaging. Thank you so much, Cathy! That’s really kind of you to say =).
I think when I buy something it will only be because of the packaging.
Clever designs and bold colours make this an intriguing collaboration.
Rossy? Now THIS is the MAC I know and love.
The packaging is gorgeous.
Such beautiful packaging! I look forward to seeing this collection when it comes out 🙂
This looks gorgeous but I’m heartbroken that de Palma covers her face in the promo shots. If you’re going to do it, DO IT.
I’ve been wanting this collection ever since it first came out. I’ve never been really into any of MAC’s other collections – but this one really spoke to me. The packaging is stunning and artsy. I like how they put so much thought into it, in such a creative way. The way each product creates her face is so clever. This is great for the crowd that wants to seem avant garde.
The cosmetics themselves seem interesting, too. I like the multi-colors of the shadow palette. I’ve always disliked palettes that had colors that are too similar, but this one has very different colors, including bright ones. I don’t know why Americans are so scared of color – it’s standard in Asia to wear eye makeup of all sorts of fun and shimmery colors. Colorful eye makeup doesn’t necessarily have to look bold or garish!
The face base one is interesting – looks like a general shade that would match many skin tones. The bold black/white shadow – I’ve never done anything like that, but I like the look in the photo! The lip gloss palette looks really interesting – I like lip palettes, though they’ve never been as popular as I wish they were. I’m not sure about the pigments, but Halloween is coming up, so maybe it can get some use. The lipstick colors don’t totally appeal to me, but maybe they might actually look ok on me. The blushes look beautiful in their packaging.
Love everything in this palette – wish it wouldn’t cost so much, or I’d buy the whole collection. I hope the products would work well for me, but even if they don’t, this would be a great collector’s collection. I haven’t heard of de Palma before, but I’m interested in checking out more of her stuff.
Please MAC – do more collaborations/collections like this one!
