That is the gaudiest packaging I’ve ever seen. It’s perfect! lol Nostalgia has got me wanting everything, but I’m not going to even try to get anything from this collection.

renae Avatar

I think my local mac said online only.
Going by the usual price mark-up, it could be $45. Let’s hope they don’t apply the same cost formula as the nutcracker extra dimension skin finishes, in which case it would be closer to $60.

Trish Avatar

I want it ALL! This will be a total sellout – flatters so many complexions. I wore Mariah’s previous lippie down to near nothing- need a restock bad.

I’m not even concerned about swatches and reviews- it could totally fail and I’d still go for it.
Why? Because MAC gets it right more often than not.

I feel like this collection is about 20 years too late… something about this just screams 90’s to me, from the obnoxiously sparkly packaging, to the product colors, to that sparkly powder with the little poof (reminds me of the powders UD came out with when they stopped being edgy, anyone else remember those?), to the collaboration with Mariah Carey… it all just feels kind of dated to me…

Iron Maiden Avatar

I’m with you. I was never a fan of her singing or style. I can easily think of ten other people I’d like to see MAC do a collection with, but it seems like it’ll be popular. I’ll leave mine for the people who love it already!

Shana Avatar

It’s supposed to be 90s lol, that was the height of Mariah’s popularity. And it’s actually right on trend, 90s makeup looks are coming back in a big way right now! I think if this had come out 2 years ago it would’ve been a huge miss, but right now it’s perfect timing.

Katherine T. Avatar

Oh no!! The magpie in me is super excited for this collection, so sparkly and shimmery! Now here’s a holiday collection 🙂 let’s hope the quality is there

kim Avatar

I dont really see a problem in pricing, especially this being a collaborative collection. MAC is actually one of the more affordable “high end” makeup brands in comparison to others inside sephora.

Carrie Avatar

I like the looks of that cool-leaning quad, but the boat has mostly sailed on their eyeshadows for me. Too many better options at this price point!

Aside from that, the packaging looks pretty, just hoping it isn’t a glittery mess!

Karen Avatar

The packaging is so pretty & it’s right in time for the holidays! I can’t wait for your reviews on this collection. So far, I’m thinking of picking up a lipstick + the extra dimension skinfinish.

Melissa Avatar

The colors all look gorgeous, the packaging is ok/nice too, but their price points are ridiculous. Sorry not sorry. MAC collections have disappointed me so much over the past couple years I’m not even sure I should get my hopes up. Make these companies start EARNING your hard earned cash again!! Too many other great cosmetics lines out here now. The only people I see really wanting and needing this are true diehard Mariah Carey fans. I’ll wait for swatches. Not pressed to jump on the bandwagon lol.

Mariella Avatar

Thanks but “no thanks” – all those nude and brown lippies – blech! Gawdy packaging – nope! The prices – nope! Is the Twinks in this the same as Twinks in the permanent collection? (I always think of it as a red-toned brown rather than “deep plum with pearl”.

Racquel Avatar

Well, the packaging is beautiful. I definitely want the lip liners and lip glasses for sure. I am not the biggest fan of cremesheen and frost lipsticks those are a pass. I wanted the skinfinish but that price is kinda high. I understand the special design they embossed into the product but its not even in the limited edition packaging.

Sarah Avatar

Oh nooo from the promo shots I thought there would just be one lipstick and I wouldn’t feel guilty for buying it but FIVE?! I hope they swatch horribly so I can pass, ha ha. The blushes look so cute too!

Deborah S. Avatar

I am not a Mariah Carey fan but I have to say, I am loving this collection and it looks like it represents her quite well. I love the embossing and the color on the eye shadows. I am not a frosted lip person but will wait and see how they swatch if Christine reviews this collection. I hope they have enough of everything to go around because this is going to sell out, I am sure.

Angie Avatar

Omg, the makeup could be a total miss and I would get everything just cause of the packaging!! I haven’t seen such a pretty packaging since the Rihanna collection.

Maria Avatar

I probably wouldn’t buy any of it not a big Mac Fan but I am curious about the review when I think of Mariah Carey I think of someone with a lot of money with very bad taste but her makeup collection Might be different.

Pearl Avatar

I was talking with a MAC MUA about this collection and she said that the photo shoot was the most expensive to date for MAC. Mariah wanted real diamonds to be raining down but settled for Swarovski crystals, and insisted on actual diamonds in the costume (which they actually accomodated). When the shoot was done, she just up and walked out wearing the costume (with all of those diamonds!).

Shana Avatar

I was excited about this collection at first and the packaging IS super pretty but…the prices make me mad. They’re really random, first of all. They’re raised several dollars for no apparent reason. MAC is already getting way too expensive and you can really feel how much they’re taking advantage of their customers lately–especially with a .50 price increase twice a year. This isn’t even a couture collection, it’s just pretty packaging. I can’t afford to buy makeup that’s not drugstore anymore–the only one I save up for is MAC. I’ve only been into MAC for 3 years now but I already have over 70 lipsticks and I absolutely love collecting them (especially LE packaging ones), but with the prices rising $1 every year I just don’t get as much anymore. I do really love that they’ve been having huge sales lately though, they’ve been a godsend for me! I’m hoping Blue Nectar goes on sale soon because I still have a few lipsticks I want to get from that. This turned into a random rant so let me get back on topic lol.

Also I’m disappointed in the lipstick finishes in this collection. Two frosts and then what, 3 cremesheens? Why not throw at least one matte in there, or even a satin? All three of the cremesheens look the same anyway. A mid-tone taupe-y brown in satin or matte would’ve been amazing in this collection. The lip liner colors sound perfect but I just can never justify paying that much for a lip liner tbh.

Primpcess Avatar

Yes please, I want it ALL!!!! I can’t resist the sparkly packaging, and it’s also super nostalgic for me. There is no way I can pass this collection up!

Hex Avatar

nuh-uh. what ?! huh? whaaat im like speechless this is beautiful. such a change from her boring black lipstick tube last year. i neeeeeed omg it’s sooo nice. and the butterfly on the lipstick? genius. they did their homework. i wasn’t gonna buy anymore makeup this year. honestly i hope supply lasts into january if i’m lucky.

Tracey E. Avatar

The collection looks interesting but Mariah Carey hasn’t been relevant for decades. Even her picture looks dated (yes, we know you like to flaunt your cleavage). Not a fan, so it’s a no-go for me.

Victoria Avatar

Please post swatches and reviews, can’t wait to see then in order to decide what to buy. I already have All I Want lipstick from last year but may need to restock. Thank you. Waiting…..

Morgan Avatar

I would just like to point out that December 8th is Nicki Minaj’s birthday. You can NOT convince me that Mariah didn’t do this on purpose after the whole American Idol drama.

However, it is a very beautiful collection and I will probably buy it just because of the packaging although I look forward to see what you have to say about these!

Corliss Avatar

I hope Mac is smart enough to have enough product so it doesn’t sell out before people are able to get it, like those of us who work for a living. I hope they don’t screw it up like they did the Taraji P. Henson collection.

Lorrin M. Avatar

This is a gorgeous collection and I’m really happy they expanded her line from last year. I will probably be picking up one or two lipsticks, maybe a quad, and the skinfinish (assuming they don’t all sellout instantly). That being said, phew, those prices are steep. I’m really hoping MAC is only doing this because of the packaging, otherwise I doubt I’ll be able to keep up with their future collections.

renae Avatar

Wow, that shot of Mariah is almost enough to put me off, hope she is alright after having that glass smashed all over her. Most of the shades look surprisingly nice and almost wareable. I may end up with something, but then again, i may not.

Denise Avatar

The link through Instagram you posted showed different prices. For example The LE lipsticks were listed $17,LE lipglass $15,LE extra dimension skin finish $30,LE iridescent body powder $24,both blushes $22,& last both eyeshadow quads listed $32. Which are the accurate prices for these items? Thankyou

Christine Avatar

Hi Denise,

Unfortunately, our system only assigns price to the product (we want to make it possible to assign to individual shades, but it is not currently something we can do) – e.g. MAC’s normal lipstick price is $17, but there is special pricing for the collection, which is listed above.
