MAC Loud and Clear Collection for Spring 2020

MAC Loud and Clear Collection for Spring 2020

Release Date + About the Launch

Au naturel doesn’t have to mean low-key. This spring is all about a perspective shift on neutrals. On runways and beyond, sheer textures and nude shades are transformed through sharp execution and extreme saturation, taking them into territories favoured by the bold. M•A•C Loud and Clear reveals the power of earth tones with a lineup offered in transparent packaging for ultimate clarity of self-expression.

The range includes eight single Eye Shadows in sunbaked browns, creamy camels and apricots; five Lipglass shades in a spectrum from the sheerest of nudes to the deepest aubergine; five universally flattering Lipsticks and two limited-edition Extra Dimension Skinfinish compacts in shimmery pewter and burnished bronze.

Now online, February 6th in stores

Did MAC even make top standing in a single category of the Temptalia Reader’s Choice last year? Going to re-read. I know my selections are rarely echoed. I think I nailed exactly one category with my choice for last year. I feel so anti-establishment.

Anyhow, what I am trying to express is despite attractive looking campaigns, MAC just isn’t even on my radar anymore. I was somewhat inspired by the new blush formula, but I’ve decided to pass (or buy Cover FX or NARS instead ?)

I love the concept here and the colors, but I had to go google “pewter” because I thought I’d gone to an alternate reality where it’s not dark silver.

Very pretty campaign. I never am bothered by a repromote collection. I do cringe a little when I see “universally flattering Lipsticks” and then these shades, as the tones and colors for 2-3 of these would be terrible on me and others with similar skin color.

I really feel like MAC has priced themselves out of their range. When the eyeshadows were 13 bucks and the lipsticks 14 or so, that was a decent deal. Their formulas have, if anything, gone downhill and yet the price is getting quite high.

I don’t know why these colours are speaking so loudly to me. I think it’s time for a trip to Sephora. I’ll have them do a look on me and see if I like it. I used to wear these colours in my early twenties, maybe it’s time for a look back into history? First I have to get rid of this migraine.

The only thing in this collection that excites me at all is Omega eyeshadow, which I already own and have owned for years. The name of the rose gold Skinfinish is cute and clever. Please, though, please someone “in the know”, reassure me that we’re NOT going to see ankle sockettes and heels as a fashion trend again!

Like the concept, but it seems to be a change of perspective on the same old, same old. Warm neutrals-to-peach, with greater saturation. It does look different, but actually might not be???? The m/u styling seems to be a throwback to the Twiggy era. The dress (totally NMS), not so much. Given the dress (mixed texture) I would have expected more textural variety in the m/u. Although, wet look and pleather would be a bit much. This looks totally everyday-wearable for MAC fans.
