Uh oh. Those tubes look just like the ones they used for Taraji P Henson VG and also for Mariah Carey’s Lipglasses. Smaller amounts, but more $’s. That’s worrisome. And annoying!
you have a sharp eye
I came to make the exact same comment Nancy! I was just about to ask Christine if this meant less product. It almost surely does. 🙁
Not gonna lie, I came here to check the amount in the tube hasn’t changed, which seems highly likely. Watching dubiously, MAC.
I saw the old lipglasses were in the Goodbyes section of MAC’s website and I panicked and bought a bunch! I’m glad to see they are just getting a facelift and aren’t discontinued.
Oohhh thanks for the heads up, I hadn’t noticed!
A lot of pretty colors ?. I like the bright yellow one. Double walled vial reminds me of Jouer lip gloss and toppers. Wonder if the new packaging is similar?
I have one of the new tubes, and yes despite the nicer packaging the amount is less than the original. New tube is 3.1 ML compared to 4.8ML. Which ones are the new shades?
Is the price the same, or have they lowered it?
I can’t wait to see swatches of all the new shades! Here’s hoping they’re not super sheer (but they probably are) and that they didn’t reduce the amount of product (but they probably did)
Marketing tricks, new fancy packaging (hope cups isn’t rubber like the Nars ones) less amount.
Higher price, but less product. Not to mention, they aren’t bringing back “Signs of Spring” (formerly “Underage”), which is the one that I’ve purchased countless times. UGH Mac……
I take it back! Signs of Spring IS being re-released. MAC, I forgive you for scaring me.
What about Signs of Spring? My favorite shade! Did they discontinue some of the shades? I read somewhere that they were keeping all shades but I don’t see Signs of Spring listed here! Noooo! 🙁
Where is Signs of Spirng? Ahhhh. I read somewhere that they weren’t discontinuing shades but I don’t see Signs of Spring listed here! *tears* And looks like there is less product for more money. That’s a shame. Still can’t wait for swatches tho! I bought up my local counter’s remaining supply at 40% off in all the shades I use just because I anticipated the price hike with the new realease. But did not anticipate them having less product. Love the Temptalia site-always a joy to read over!
Update! I went today to see the launch and Signs of Spring is NOT discounted! It was alive and well! So many awesome new shades too. They are still $17.00, although I have not compared to the old packaging to see if there is the same amount of product or not. I still couldn’t get a straight answer on what was limited and what is permanent from the 2 Mac ladies present. I picked up Goldfinch (2 of them) and Whitelustre because one rep said those are limited. Who knows. Hooray for Signs of Spring making the cut though!!!
They are smaller than the taraji henson lipglass but if the texture is like the taraji lipglass then I don’t want them. I can find lipgloss in many other brands for cheaper and the taraji lipglass is like gel textured I have it and want to return it color is pretty but I can find it in another brand. Sorry Mac but I’m not so interested anymore.
Just checked these out on MAC’s website… they’re $17.00 and only 0.10 oz of product (previously 0.17 oz). I’m incredibly disappointed. MAC Lipglass is my favorite lipgloss, and I would have preferred they kept the old packaging and quantity and pricing.
MAC’s site *says* the VIVA GLAM Taraji lipglass is 0.16 oz of product though (I’m guessing that’s incorrect).
I have been wearing MAC PRRR for over 15 years. I have been a fan of their makeup and the causes they take part in. I love the fact that they recycle the containers, as our planet already has too much plastic and glass waste.
Recently MAC came out with new packaging for their LIP Glass product. The size of the container and amount of plastic used has increased 🙁 and the product inside has decreased substantially! Almost 40% decrease!! The old container held .16 oz. and the new one has .10 oz. It is so disappointing!! Why is more plastic needed? Larger containers + 38% less product = so much more plastic waste!! Also I’m paying the same price for almost 40% less?? Shame on you MAC!!! I love the color but am looking for a replacement as I feel scammed and I care about the environment.
I’m with you Jo A.!
I am SO disappointed that MAC has decreased the amount of product while increasing the package size. Not cool. This is terrible for the environment and deceptive to consumers. I’ve had enough of companies pulling these stunts thinking they can get away with it. Sadly, most of them do.
I loved the compact size of the old packaging. It fit better in a pocket or wristlet and truly was a better choice when it comes to recycling/waste management. And who wants to have to replace a gloss every 2 to 3 weeks? The least they could have done was give a price break. Like *that* was going to happen… 🙁
Thanks to sites like this, I can educate myself and source dupes from other companies that don’t try to pull the wool over their customers’ eyes!
