M·A·C shares your commitment to the environment. Our packaging this holiday season was made with sustainability in mind by focusing on the reduction of plastic waste.
We’ve eliminated plastic components in our holiday collection, which is an equivalence of 500,000 plastic water bottles* (*Based on the average weight of a half-litre bottle.). More than half of our compacts in our holiday collection were redesigned to introduce recycled/post-consumer content. Our collections this holiday season come in recyclable, responsibly sourced paper cartons. Return your clean, empty M· A·C products at participating locations through our Back-To-M· A·C takeback program* (*excluding California) to give old plastic a second life. What cannot be recycled is converted to energy.

Oh my goodness. I am not a MAC stan by any means, but this collection looks lovely. (Maybe I’m just overwhelmed by the number of products.) I look forward to seeing some of these reviewed if Christine has the time!

I was very excited to hear about the plastic reduction and other sustainability efforts… but then I got to the part with “Back-To-M· A·C takeback program* (*excluding California)” and I got sad. I really need to research this, but I do hope the program is still available in California, I’ve been using it for years.
In a non-pandemic year I would be very excited by the lipstick vault. For the first time I feel I could actually use all of them, some are my MAC holly grails (Mehr, Diva, Rebel, Chili).
In print, this looks very expanded from the same old/same old mac holiday releases. Possibly so. I like the idea of having less plastic. Not sure about the marketing copy. (Where have we heard that one before?….) We are virtuous, because we are reducing the plastics and encouraging recycling. To me, it’s a bit pandering to today’s concern over despoiling the environment. TBH, i usually find MAC print a bit tries-too-hard. The pix look far less frou frou. Maybe not so festive. Festive/holiday themes are important to some, but not all. It will influence sales. My fave is the mini set of their best selling/classic lipsticks. When everyone has been pulled away from lip products, this is a brilliant way to re/start.
I miss the old MAC holiday collections.
They usually do a very good job with their cheek trio highlighters, so that’s a “maybe”. I do like this year’s lip kits because they contain a liquid lipstick and Prep & Prime Lips, so I may pick up the neutral one.
I preordered the highlighter palette and lip glass trio in cool. Hope they perform well.
Well, this is a huge collection from MAC and generally it looks quite promising. The lipsticks look lovely (and thank goodness they are lipsticks!) and the various sets also look interesting.
The smaller eye palettes just have too many pinks and reds in it for me, but the larger one looks has quite a range of shades in it. I just hope it is good.
I love these curations but not the circle packaging. It’s a sad pass from me.
I always get the lipstick vault and the large eyeshadow palette. This year should be the same. (If they don’t have a large palette in a given year, I get the small ones).
The large swirl palette is basic, but nice, especially for a beginner or if you just want to freshen up your palette choices. However, I haven’t bought a MAC eyeshadow in YEARS and for a reason, quality was sooo bad even over five years back (I tried twice) and so I don’t want to take a risk.
