MAC Chen Man Love & Water Collection: Lipglasses
There are two limited edition MAC Lipglasses ($14.50 for 0.17 fl. oz.) in the new Love & Water Collection: Budding Love (pale lavender) and Force of Love (vivid honeysuckle pink). They, obviously, coordinate with the lipsticks–the descriptions are even the same.
Budding Love is a softly blue-based milky pink with soft white and pink shimmer. Because it’s a milkier shade, it does settle into lip lines and doesn’t always look perfectly even once applied. MAC Enchantee is very similar but streakier and has no shimmer. MAC Infinitely Likeable is a yellower pink. MAC Viva Glam Gaga is a bit lighter. MAC English Accents is pinker.
Force of Love is a yellow-based medium-dark pink with white sparkle. It has semi-opaque color coverage with some settling into lip lines. Chanel Pink Pulsion is darker, less opaque. MAC Electro Lush is darker. MAC If It’s Pink… is brighter, more fuchsia. Chanel Pink Teaser is similar but has gold shimmer.
MAC Lipglasses are a sticky, thick gloss, so they have a tendency to wear for four hours. They’re vanilla-scented but have no discernible taste. I’m not a big fan of this formula when the shade is more pastel, as it tends to settle or have a streaky application, which was the case with Budding Love, though it’s not the worst I’ve seen. Force of Love has less coral in it compared to the coordinating lipstick, so if you layer this gloss over the lipstick, you’ll pull out more of the pink tones.

I get a little let down whenever I see the new colors coming out of MAC now. It may just be me, but there is ALWAYS a pale milky one that looks not exactly…good.
I completely agree! It seems like they are really pushing the whole milky lipglass trend, and all of them settle into liplines. Glad I’m not the only one who noticed that!
Force of Love lipglass surprises me. You’d think it would be more coral. Looks like a nice shade to make one look more awake. I’ll give it a try.

Force of Love looks so beautiful and corally in the tube, but on your lips, Christine, it appears more cool-based. Hmmm, I will have to reserve further judgement until it is released to the public. Budding Love does look interesting, but appears to be extremely similar to Revlon’s Lilac Pastelle. Considering that I have Lilac Pastelle, I am not sure that BL would be a wise investment since I don’t wear that shade on my lips on a regular basis. Still, I look forward to viewing this collection.
My lips don’t have any warm tones (probably neutral to cool, since they are grayish-mauve), but my skin tone has yellow undertones – so when something is over lips, you’re not getting any of that warmer undertone coming through 🙂

Force of Love is really pretty! I’m happy you can actually see the pigment, a lot of the lipglasses sometimes just look close to clear or lightly pigmented. This one is really pretty, and definitely on my “to buy” list.
Is it just me, or does this seem like a half-baked version of the Shu Uemura/Wong Kar Wai Dance in Glitter collection?

Yeah, the first time I saw the ad for this collection, I thought of she uemura and won kar wai collaboration.
I’m tempted to get the Budding Love gloss or l/s so I can tone down the yellow in VG Niki.
