LUSH Cosmetic Warrior Fresh Face Mask Review

LUSH Cosmetic Warrior Fresh Face Mask ($7.95) has all of the ingredients and benefits that I’d want in a face mask. There’s just one major problem — the scent! Oh, my goodness, it is a mix of garlic and tea tree oil, which are both incredibly powerful scents. The garlic is what really gets me, I think, because I’ve used tea tree oil before and don’t mind the smell. This is a mask I only want to use when my allergies are acting up, because I can’t really smell! (I’m actually using it while I write the review!)

So if you can a) handle the scent or b) can’t smell very well, you might still want to consider this mask, because it does feel amazing. Cosmetic Warrior is designed for acne-prone skin. It has garlic that acts as an antiseptic agent, tea tree as an astringent, and eggs and honey” This mask is kind of like a deep-cleansing mask that’s designed to help lift oil out of the skin. Deep cleansing kaolin and fresh grapes help get that freshly clean feeling down pat.

I will say that the scent fades a bit as the mask dries, and after using it a few times, my nose seems to have gotten used to the scent so it’s not as jarring as it was the first time I used it. I definitely suggest giving a pot a shot, and if you can use it a few times, you might find it’s well worth the five or ten minutes you breathe your mouth 😉

Just a reminder, LUSH Fresh Face Masks are only available in-store and cannot be shipped (at least not in the U.S.) due to the freshness-factor. These last about three weeks and must be in your refrigerator during that time. I like to have two masks on hand at any given time, just because I like to switch it up. I usually alternate between a mask like Cosmetic Warrior and then another mask just because (like BB Seaweed).

I could live with the garlic scent as long as it doesn’t make my face smell… does the scent linger after you wash it off?

I’ve never really managed to get along with any of the fresh face masks because I didn’t like the smell of any of them.

I absolutely love their Mask of Magnaminty though. It smells minty without being mentholated if that makes sense. I wouldn’t be without it.

Hey Binnie!

I’ve used mine a week or so after the expiration date, too, and it’s been all good. I imagine, due to the freshness of the ingredients, they can spoil/degrade after three weeks, so of course, use with caution after it expires.

Or find a friend to split 🙂

Hey Christine,

I totally agree with you! re the freshness I normally spilt the masks with my lovely wee sister as even the small tub seems alot LOL!

I use to work for Lush and this is a really good mask if you have normal acne prone skin…donot use if you have senitive acne prone skin it will break you out like crazy. The mask are good for three weeks, there is an expiration date on the back and please trash after that date. Mold can form inside. There is not one mask I dislike…they are all good. I love the cupcake, but I have oily skin.

I’m currently using the BB Seaweed one and I love it! How often do you use these? I know they’re good for three weeks so I’m trying to use up a good amount each time.

Christine Avatar

Man, I am using masks like 3-4 times a week. I don’t know if that’s overkill or not, but whatever, my skin hasn’t reacted *negatively* to it. I’m also trying to be less frugal and use more each application, since I never seem to finish a pot before three weeks.

Brigitte Avatar

Lol… hopefully my skin doesn’t get upset from overusing the goodness in the masks. I’ll be using them more often than I had planned then! Thanks for letting me know. 😀

I LOVE LUSH! I used the Brazen Honey mask and the Cupcake mask as a spot treatment for blemishes (it smells so good I want to eat it!) and they are both wonderful… I just got a sample of the Cosmetic Warior this weekend and have been reluctant to try it because it smells kind of like having Italian food smeared on your face. Thanks for the great reveiw!

i love this mask, it is great when your skin feels abit congested. and oddly, i cant smell the garlic…it smells like salad cream and tea tree oil to me *laughs*

I finally made it to city Walk and I grabbed this one. The smell isn’t too bad in my opinion, maybe i have a high tolerance of strong scents and stuff. I really liked the feel of it and my skin looked good after. I bought the Sea Salt scrub too and I am really lovin it!
Thank you Christine for the suggestions and all the reviews. I would’ve never known this stuff existed!

Love Lush products but the prices are a bit hefty, yet strangely worth it. I recently found BODYCAKESPA(.) COm LOVE LOVE LOVED them, your dollar goes a bit further but with more skin bonuses. I know hard to believe I heard about it through a friend and so I am sharing. Which I could find reviews on it, so I don’t go into financial ruin all over bathing. ugh!

i LOVE this mask! i am a oily hot mess (so is my mom so we share this) and it works like a charm! I’ve tried cupcake too and while it worked decent this one is my go to mask! Yes, the garlic smell is annoying but for me and my mom we tend to not notice it too much after a bit ( watch t.v. read a book or better yet CHECK TEMPTALIA FOR MORE REVIEWS! and you will hardly notice it’s there). trust me with how smooth and nice my skin feels (especially with herbaslism face wash) i can handle a lil bit of garlic.
