This looks like a really solid kit. I’m not super into shimmer highlights but LORAC tends to keep their sparkle toned down compared to other companies.

Wow, this is a pretty good deal since it comes with that brush, but I can only use 3 of the lightest colors. (Sigh) Wish companies would make customizable kits, where you can pick the color of your contour, highlighter, and bronzer. That would be so awesome

I have the opposite problem Katherine, I’m tan/caramel complected, and the shimmer highlight, which is huge, will be useless to me. The struggle is real. Thanks Gigi, I will check out Anastasia.

The brush comes with the kit, and its price is part of the $45 of the kit. It lists in the description on Ulta that the brush is “exclusive,” so as of yet it’s not available to purchase on its own. It might come available later, though.

I’d be interested in seeing swatches and a review. But, I honestly wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t want to spent your own $ on yet another contour kit. Good golly! There are so many! lol! So, if you don’t I will take myself to Ulta, and stick my fingers in it and see what I think, But looking at the photo, I am on the passing side of the fence. I very rarely do much more than contour with one single color. So, I really don’t need this. I bought the KVD shade and light kit and it I rarely use it the way the SA showed me (using all the shades!) It’s too much-too harsh for me. I do better with my Kevyn Aucoin Medium sculpting powder or using one or two at the most. I would like to hear your thoughts on the CoverFx contouring cream palettes- if you ever get a chance though..just a request! 🙂

Now the question will be if this is as hard to get off as the eyeshadows are? 🙂 I love the espresso shadow I use it as a liner, and haven’t used a pencil of any kind since! I love that they do not move or flake. I have never tried any of their blushes does anyone know who blendable they are? I have the It Cosmetics contoure palette, but I love the look of this one, and the brush! When they sell them separate the brush will be a good $30 or more! How ever tries this first please let me know how well they blend!

And this one comes with the brush! KVD may have a run for her $! Love the KVD Shade+Light contour kit, but will be getting this in June, along with MUFE Artist Nudes! Saving for it now!

Oh, no its a nice set! I need another conyour palette like I need a hole in the head, but I have to admit that this one and the one by Kat Von D are of interest to me.

Contour palettes seem redundant to me. I think I have all the colors I need already. Beginners might benefit but contouring is a bit advanced for newbies.
So many companies are doing this but I just can’t believe it will be a big seller.

StrangeOne Avatar

I already have the smashbox one and I’m happy with those colours. This looks interesting though. Need to repeat my first line like a mantra.

I guess it makes sense that it’s targeted at makeup artists since this product is at least titled as “PRO”. But, how does a “casual” consumer suppose to use all those shades? I just can’t understand if the company expects all 3 contour shades to be used by one person? It’s like selling foundation in a pack of 3 different shades. What I am I missing? Why is it so confusing to me?

Christine Avatar

By no means does a customer need to have a bunch of different contouring shades, but for someone who contours often and likes to switch up their look, it can still be useful as a regular user, not a makeup artist. One day, I might want a really subtle contour, and the next I might want something darker and more dramatic – or perhaps one day I want something really gray and cool and the next a more reddish one. To me, it’s similar to highlighters – you can totally just use one that works well for you, or you can have a full range, but it’s ultimately dependent on how you use and like your makeup. I use two or three shades of foundation at a given point, so you can see why mixing and matching can be useful 🙂 Haha, I would actually quite love if foundations were sold in trios (and smaller sizes) so you could mix and adjust to your perfect shade — instead of spending $120-150 every time I’m out!

Elena Avatar

Thank you so much for your reply! It does make a lot more sense. I guess I treated the concept of a contour similar to a foundation, as opposed to a highlight. Come to think of it, I’m totally with you on the foundation trios. Imagine having color coordinated sets with a “field colour”, cooler contour shades and a subtle corrector that addresses an undertone or intensity. Then they can sell liquid highlighters in different finishes, luminizers, bronzers or mattifyers in tiny packages that you mix and match. I can get into this.

Jennifer Spears Avatar

Foundation Trios would be the business!!! My shade changes throughout the week as my sun-less tanner fades, lol. Plus with summer here I get a bit more color! I’m with you Christine. I absolutely use various colors in a contour palette and would totally buy a foundation trio. Cover FX Custom Color Drops??!!!

Nancy T Avatar

And now Lorac has joined with how many other companies that have all just released a bunch of these contour/highlighter palettes? It’s starting to get a bit ridiculous just how many are floating around! That said, if it performs extremely well, then yes, it’ll be just as welcome and loved as the one by Kat Von D, and Nyx’s iteration too.

Tiffanie Avatar

I have, thus far, resisted buying a contour kit because I like the individual ones I’ve been using prior to the whole contouring craze. I use MACs blunt “blush” for a subtle look. For night’s out, I use MACs pro sculpting cream topped off with Cover Girl Queen Collection bronzer in Ebony. I don’t contour everyday, so I don’t see much need for a whole kit. I am kind of eyeing the yellow highlight in this pallet, but hopefully I can find a yellow powder in a single somewhere.

Moira Avatar

OMG, just got mine in the mail yesterday and so far I do love the brush. The contour kit itself is smaller than you thinkk however the product is smooth and perfect. I am an Anstasia lover myself, so KVD always took a back seat. I have that one as well..but so far love the Lorac better than the KVD. I it pan on the KVD on a shade, so now I feel like that palette is useless. 🙁
This palette sold out online for Plat members so fast!

Bonnie Avatar

I hope you review this one! 🙂
I haven’t purchased one of the “contour kits” yet from any brand, just because really they don’t excite me and I don’t contour very much, although I use bronzer almost every day in a sort-of contour-y way! lol… anyway, like others have said, I really want the brush so I think I might actually go for this one if it gets a good review!

Nik Avatar

I was able to get my hands on this palette a few weeks early since I’m platinum at Ulta. I’ve tried ALL contour kits (Anastasia Beverly Hills & Kat Von D to name the two most popular) and the Lorac Contour palette puts all other contour palettes in the trash. I cannot say enough of the perfect contour colors for my Medium skin tone (NC40) as well as the buttery texture.

Lori Avatar

I have not purchased the KVD Shade And Light and have been wanting to purchase. However seeing some swatches from others of this Lorac Pro Contour and Highlight palette. I think i will just get this one, and still debate on KVD , Lorac is one of my favorite brands. I love KVD too she is up there, i am just on the fence with that one.

Jennifer N. Avatar

I can say this is comparable to KVD this would be an A+ as to KVD being a A. I can a very light complexion. Very white lol. But if done correctly even the darkest shade can be used, although the brush is a great inclusion, It picks up a lot, so be very light handed or just keep the brush and look into maybe a mac brush for contouring instead. Overall, yes I recommend this product
