Look - Soft Neutrals and Browns
After yesterday’s experimentation, this is my actual look for the day. Sometimes it’s fun just to have, well, fun with makeup – to be able to try out things and combinations that are gloriously over the top. Obviously, this is pre-hair cut!
You will need the following…
- Eyes: Copperbeam pigment (metallic brown), Ricepaper eyeshadow (neutral highlighter), Bronze eyeshadow (dark brown), Smut eyeshadow (darkest brown), Texture eyeshadow (soft warm brown), UD Bourbon 24/7 Liner (warm brown), Rich Ground fluidline (warm brown), Plushlash mascara (black)
- Cheeks: Blooming blush (soft pink)
- Lips: Lightly Ripe lipstick (subtle deep pink), Liqueur lipglass (dirty brown)
- Brushes: 266 (firm, angled brush), 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 129 (dense blush brush)
- Substitutes: Copperbeam = Chocolate Brown; Blooming = CoyGirl; Lightly Ripe = Syrup; Liqueur = Spite
Directions: Define brows using a coordinating powder shadow applied with the 266 brush. Apply Copperbeam pigment all over the lid as the base with the 249. On the inner-to-middle lid, apply Ricepaper eyeshadow using the 239. Apply Texture eyeshadow to outer lid with the 239. Darken crease with Bronze eyeshadow with the 239, and then add depth using Smut eyeshadow. Sweep Ricepaper underneath the brow bone to highlight. Finish with UD Bourbon 24/7 Liner on lower lash line, Rich Ground fluidline on upper lash line, and Plushlash mascara on lashes. Sweep apples of cheeks with Blooming using the 129. Apply Lightly Ripe lipstick to lips, and then top with Liqueur lipglass for color and shine.
It’s so interesting to see how different colors look on different people. I also have on lightly ripe and liquer over it and on my skin tone it is actually a medium-dark purply lip look.
Love the eyeshadow!
So true! How funny. Lightly Ripe is so totally pink on me, and Liqueur just mutes it a bit for me!
It looks gorgeous on you! I wish it looked simmilar on me, maybe I can find a way to get some other lipgloss/lipstick combo that will achieve a simmilar color to how it looks on you.
Thanks, Beverly! I’m sure you could find a similar combo :d
Ur just too gorg. for ur own good!
I love this look on you!
Haha 😉 Thank you, Sash!
I second that Sash!! Christine, you look gorgeous 😀
Thanks so much, Livia! You are all too nice 🙂
LOOOVE that lip color! Do you put your lipstick on right from the tube? Or do you put it on a lip brush and brush it on? What about the gloss? How do you apply it specifically?
Thanks, Heather! For this look, I put it on from the tube. I tend to only bust out a lip brush for reds and darker. The gloss I place on my lower lip, smush, then use the wand to spread it out and go around the edges!
You look beautiful. I love that lip color!
Thanks, Gio! I really liked the lip combo, too!
This gets another “lovelovelove” from me! 🙂
YAY 🙂 Thanks, Kella!
hey christine! you look gorgeous & even though the end photo doesnt show your new haircut, i thought i’d comment like everyone else and say that i too love it! i wish i could pull of the side-swept bang look haha. your eyebrows look nice too, although i think they appear a little long..so if u took a spoolie and brushed them up and trimmed them, they would look much neater…just a suggestion. anyhow, keep up the great work! 🙂
Aw, thanks so much, Ellie! Why don’t you think you could do side-swept bangs?
i dont think i can do side-swept bangs because i have thin, fine hair..so there wouldnt be a whole lot of bang to begin with unless they started like in the middle of my head haha, and also because i have a square-ish face 🙁
they suit your face perfectley though! (im jealous 😛 )
Oh, I see! I have super, super thick hair (think enough hair for two people). Both a blessing and a curse!
Thank you though 🙂
Beautiful! This look a lots like what I wear day to day, maybe that’s why I like it hah. I wear Ramblin’ Rose l/s though, I might try out this shade you’re wearing
Thanks, Kelly! I don’t have Ramblin’ Rose, but it’s very pretty 🙂
no closed eye shot..:(
(where v can see your whole face…and you are looking down)
by the way..you look goooorgeous..!!
Sorry, the photo didn’t turn out 🙁
Thank you!
Top liner really seems to help keep your eyes from being closed up by whatever’s on your waterline.
Thanks, Sanayhs! I wish it didn’t turn my eyes bloodshot three hours later, though.
This is the kind of look I’ve been sporting lately. Love Lightly Ripe! I need to grab Rich Ground…every time you wear it I love it.
It’s a great look, right, Asta? 🙂
Thanks!
I love this look. Very pretty. And funny, I just picked up Lightly Ripe and Liquer today. Can’t wait to try this lip color. Thanks, Christine!
Thanks, Reesa 🙂 Hope you like the lip combo!
hi i have a request!
when u apply each color of lip or shadow, can u please also photograph the actual picture of the shadow on the side? this way we can use the exact dupes that we have in the case that we dont have the same colors. it would also be easier than assuming which shade of brown, darkest brown etc. Hope you dont mind! Thanks!
Hi S! I appreciate the suggestion, but I have to be honest and say I probably won’t be able to. I just don’t have the time to pull out the products I use on a daily basis for a photo. I do try to take a product shot for tutorials, though.
Ok, first of all, OMG Your lashes!! They’re amazing today! Seriously, Plushlash is the best!
Also, I never would have thought of that lip combo, but it’s gorgeous!!!!
I lovee Plushlash!! <3
Thank you!
that liner is awesome!
Thanks, Pquanda!
Christine awesome…
Thanks again, Classic!
Hey christine. Been following your site for a while now and your looks are really awesome, you have some talent ^^ Btw I noticed that you don’t use eyeliner on your top lid very often, why is that? o.O
Hy Lynn! My upper lash line is very sensitive and liner in that area causes redness and irritation. Basically, any time you see me do it means that 2-3 hours later, my eyes will be bloodshot and itchy.
This is absolutely beautiful!
You look too beautiful – like an animated princess!
Gorgeous!
Thanks, Calico 😀
hey christine! you look really beautiful spacially yr lips and kohl
Thanks, Sidra!
Hi, I’m kind of new to this “beyond Covergirl” make up world. I hear you talk about “Ricepaper” alot, is that a brand? Also, do you usually use MAC products? I have brown eyes, brown hair and fair skin and I’m looking for a new day look. I really like this one but I’m not sure of the eyeshadow names you are using, are they all one brand?
I usually use MAC products. Basically, if it doesn’t say the brand, then it’s MAC 🙂
Hi Christine,
im a newbie in make-up and im totally lovin all your looks and tutorial…very inspiring! I really love this look and wants to try it out…i know you posted this a while back in december, i hope you are still answering questions 🙂
can i substitute the Cooperbeam pigment with copperclast? are they similar? i dont have many eyeshadow colours yet as im currently building my collection….can we also substitute ricepaper with shroom? coz thats pretty much the only light natural shadow i have 🙂
i appreciate your help on this 🙂
Hi Natalia,
Thanks so much! 🙂 You could try it. Copperclast is a little grayer, is it? I think it would work though! And yes, Shroom would work instead of Ricepaper!
