Look - Bright, Tropical Eye

Straight-forward bright tropical eye for today! 🙂 I was originally going to do a BBR look, but when I tried to do something purple using Violet pigment and Top Knot/Deep Shade, it looked a hot mess! I quickly wiped it all off and started over again. My mind went blank as to what kind of look to do, so I went for this oldie!

You will need the following…

  • Eyes: True Chartreuse pigment (chartreuse base), Goin’ Bananas eyeshadow (shimmery yellow), Overgrown eyeshadow (chartreuse), Wondergrass eyeshadow (medium green), Freshwater eyeshadow (medium blue), Deep Truth eyeshadow (dark blue), Femme-fi eyeshadow (neutral highlighter), Urban Decay Honey 24/7 Liner (gold), Urban Decay Graffiti 24/7 Liner (grass green), Penultimate liner (black), Plushlash mascara (black)
  • Cheeks: NARS Super Orgasm blush (soft peach)
  • Lips: Blow Dry lipstick (sheer coral), Red Devil lipglass (red-coral)
  • Brushes: 266 (firm, angled brush), 226 (fluffy crease brush), 214 (smudge brush), 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 129 (dense blush brush)
  • Substitutes: Going Bananas = Bright Sunshine; Overgrown = Sour Lemon; Wondergrass = Bio Green; Femme-fi = Shroom; Blow Dry = Ravishing; Red Devil = Lychee Luxe

Directions: Define brows using a coordinating powder shadow applied with the 266 brush. Apply True Chartreuse pigment all over the lid as the base with the 249. On the inner lid, apply Going Bananas eyeshadow using the 239. Apply Overgrown eyeshadow to the middle of the lid. Darken the outer lid using Deep Truth on and drag into crease using the 239. Overlay Deep Truth with Freshwater eyeshadow using the 239. Darken crease with Deep Truth eyeshadow using the 226. Sweep Femme-fi underneath the brow bone to highlight. Finish with Urban Decay Honey Liner on lower lash line, Urban Decay Graffiti Liner on lower water line, Penultimate liner on upper lash line, and Plushlash mascara on lashes. Sweep apples of cheeks with NARS Super Orgasm blush using the 129. Apply Blow Dry lipstick to lips, and then top with Red Devil lipglass for color and shine.

Thanks, Kim!

Yes, I do! I actually don’t use primer that often, but I do use foundation. I just use the same foundation pretty much all the time, so I don’t bother to list it. I use Studio Fix Fluid most of the time. I’m trying out MUFE HD right now, though.

Ooh, I really like this look, and I have most of the eyeshadows to recreate it. I just don’t have Freshwater yet and I have Bitter instead of Overgrown.

That UD green liner over the Honey liner is great! They blend really nicely. Thanks for the tip in the tutorial about how to blend the crease color into the brow highlight using the inner corner color. I’m gonna try that from now on!

This is such a cool look! I have on Freshwater today, so this has given me some more ideas for funky ways to use it. I really like the way the yellowy colours fades out into the green and then the dark blue – gorgeous. I’ve been eyeing up Bitter for a while (am I right in thinking this is a good substitute for Overgrown/Sour Lemon?) and have similar green and dark blue colours, so might try this look out sometime.

Thanks for the info. I’m been thinking of getting bitter and think I might have to check out Chrome Yellow/Nylon too…feel a Mac trip coming on :o)! I used Freshwater for a smoky blue look – light blue on my eyelid, Freshwater on my crease, dark blue in outer v (UD Goddess, looks like Mac Deep Truth), neutral highlighter and UD 24/7 eyeliner in Deviant (really gorgeous jewel blue colour)on my upper and lower lashlines. Fairly simple but I really liked how it turned out.

Forgot to ask – is there a colour in the permanent Mac line which is similar to Going Bananas/Bright Sunshine? I haven’t seen Going Bananas or Bright Sunshine in the Mac shop here. Is Chrome Yellow a good dupe?

Blow Dry is such a great lipstick. I just went back in and bought that and the Blonde and Redhead Mineralize Skinfinishes. Somehow I overlooked them the first time- I bought Femme Fi, 100 Strokes, Knight, Marquise D’ and the two new eyeshadow brushes. BBR is such a good collection and those lips look surprisingly good with that shadow combination!

WOWZERS, CHRISTINE! I died and went to Heaven! I love this look! Very summery though. You’re killing me here! It’s freezing outside!
I wish you’d stop using a bando, and allow the hair to fall on your face. That’s be HOT/CUTE/SEXIFIED! I know it!

I replicated a slightly toned down version of this look yesterday. I actually got so many compliments on it. Even one from the salesman at the car dealership my husband & i went to. He thought my eyes looked pretty. Awww! I didn’t have all the right MAC e/s colors so i used the Cargo Tahiti e/s Palette I recently bought. It had the perfect dupes for these colors & then I used Blow Dry l/s with Pink Grapefruit l/g. LOVED it!
