Le Metier de Beaute Platinum & Thunder True Color Eyeshadows Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Le Metier de Beaute Platinum True Color Eyeshadow
Le Metier de Beaute Platinum True Color Eyeshadow ($30.00 for 0.13 oz.) is a light-medium silver with a frosted, metallic sheen. Applied dry, it had good color payoff and a frosted finish, while applied wet, it took on a more metallic finish and was fully opaque. The texture was soft, finely-milled, and smooth. It lasted nine hours on the lid without creasing or fading (no primer). Disney Glass Slipper is bluer. L’Oreal Primped & Precious is darker. Lancome Style Section is darker. bareMinerals Cheers is lighter, less metallic. Inglot #447 is warmer, lighter. See comparison swatches.
Thunder True Color Eyeshadow ($30.00 for 0.13 oz.) is a medium-dark gray with subtle warm undertones and a satin finish. It was a little drier than I’ve experienced with other Le Metier de Beaute eyeshadows, so the color payoff when applied dry was surprisingly sheer. Applied with a damp brush, it was more intense but still a bit under-pigmented. It wore for eight and a half hours well, and it was slightly faded after nine hours of wear (no primer). Urban Decay Asphalt is darker. Urban Decay Desperation is very similar. MAC Steel is darker, warmer. Guerlain Les Gris #1 is cooler-toned, darker, less shimmery. bareMinerals Tempest is lighter. bareMinerals Chateau is similar. See comparison swatches.

I love both of these, but I look so weird in silvers & greys. For some reason these shades make my eyebrows look extra intense.
I don’t usually wear a lot of these colors but Thunder looks beautiful, and both seem very pigmented
Christine, how does Platinum compare to UD Strip?
Not at all – Strip is very blue!
I actually prefer silvers & greys to be sheer; when they’re too opaque, they can look a bit odd for everyday looks. Perhaps that was the intention?
I quite like how thunder looks. I’m not sure how well platinum would look on me though.
I seem to remember Xiao at messywands saying that Thunder, Noir and all the near-black eyeshadows in the permanent range were intended as “Define” shades or eyeliners. Hence, they tend to be a bit harder in texture. I’ll have to double check on that, though!
Wow…that is a true gorgeous silver! Must have…
