Lavanila The Healthy Deodorant in Vanilla Lavender for Worry Free Summer Days

Lavanila just recently launched The Healthy Deodorant ($18.00). It is touted as 100% natural, 100% healthy, and 100% effective. It is free of aluminum, parabens, propylene glycol, talc, phthalates, and triclosan. It uses a beta-glucan technology with antioxidants, active botanicals, and essential oils to fight against odor in addition to keeping skin smooth.

It’s available in four scents:

  • Pure Vanilla
  • Vanilla Coconut
  • Vanilla Lavender
  • Vanilla Grapefruit

I tested out the Vanilla Lavender scent, and I really put it to work, as it was about 85 degrees here, and I was running around playing with the dog for a bit. The Healthy Deodorant met the challenge, and I was surprised at how longwearing it is. In my experience, deodorants that are more organic or “natural” tend to just not work quite as well as other deodorants.

The Healthy Deodorant keeps me dry all day long, and it has a nice scent, too. I find most deodorants smell quite powdery (no matter the scent), kind of as an after-scent, but Vanilla Lavender smelled like a slightly sweet lavender scent. It’s dome-shaped, which actually makes it easier to use than deodorants I’ve tried in the past. It glides on easily and doesn’t leave a slew of white film behind either. I’ll definitely be checking out the other scents, too, when I run out of this one!

$18 for deodorant? Yikes. I like natural products but I think this is why they don’t sell as much as they could. That’s just too expensive for me, even though I love their products.

I might have to try this out. $18 is very pricey for a deodorant, but I think I only buy a new one every 6 months or so.

I’ve probably spent twice that trying to find a natural one that works.

I am a big fan of the Lavanilla body butter in vanilla grapefruit. It smells so nice and soft and keeps me moisturized. But I can’t get it all the time at $25 a bottle (recession…you know). Last year I bought a brand new bottle and took it with me in my carry on to Jamaica (like a BONEHEAD not realizing the limitiation for items in your carry on) and airport security TOOK IT! A brand new bottle…so there went $25 to the airport securities girlfriend or mom or who ever. Now I know better and I bought a travel sized version of it for D.R. 🙂

I am so curious about natural deodorant, but have been hesitant to try because I am so paranoid of being stinky! I live in Las Vegas and it gets so hot!Do you think this would fair well here, or should I stick to my trusty standby Dove Ultimate?

yay i’m sooo happy you reviewed this, I’ve been looking for a good natural deodorant since I’m allergic to the aluminum in regular ones. All the others I’ve tried so far don’t seem to last very long, so I’m excited that this lasted for you for quite awhile. Have you tried Dermologica’s all-natural deodorant? if so how does this one compare? thanks again for a great post!
