I’m thinking it’s because the palettes comes with a caviar stick and mascara as a bonus, but still. The price gave me a little jump when I saw it. o_0 Not the most competitive choice considering the availability of palettes like it out there for a lower price.

Candy Avatar

I was about to buy this palette because that lovely blue in the upper left looks divine, but 80 dollars? The last palette was 48! I get that it comes with some extras but really? No bueno. Lovely palette, but no can do. Thanks for the heads up, though, maybe I’ll catch it with a discount. Will it be available somewhere other than Nordstrom?

Lindsay Avatar

This looks gorgeous! Never tried any LM shadows before but I love her base products. There seems to be a cult following for her limited edition artist eyeshadow palettes so I bet this is great too.

Christina Avatar

Wow, Christine! Did you see the price on this set? $80! Previous versions were only about $50, so it’s an extra $30 for a mini caviar stick and mascara? I was going to pick this up, but I really only want the palette and am neutral about the two items. Are you going to indulge?

Karen Circa Avatar

This is a huge price increase for just an addition of the caviar stick and the mascara, from $48 to $80! I understand it has different colors but the price difference seems a bit astronomical for me.

My only gripe with Laura Mercier is that sometimes their palettes don’t look very nice. 🙁 Even though the Christmas artist palette was so good, I couldn’t get past the not so nice looking packaging.

Greta Avatar

Agreed! The Christmas 2013 palette is actually my current go-to, but I find the packaging kind of cheap and not something I want to keep on my dresser.

Tarte: GUILTY! LM: QUITE GUILTY! MAC: over time MODERATELY GUILTY!

Of what? Treating us customers as if this were FISHING> Hook ’em, then sink ’em! (Price-wise)

Price jump IS somewhat outrageous, even given the caviar stick + masc, in sample sizes, natch!

Does look lovely, though, and possibly well suited to cool eyes or skin…….

I love LM, but I am tired of African Violent being in every. single. palette. With the duplicates and the price jump I will definitely be passing on this one. But could be a good palette for those without some of her other offerings…and who have some cash to splash. 🙂

I have the last 2 years Artists palette and do love the packaging and quality. However, the shades in this years offering has so many repeats , only 3 or so colors don’t appear in either of my previous palettes and the price $80 is quite a jump from last year! So, unless Christine says its a must have, I will sadly pass.

Mariella Avatar

I know a lot of people weren’t thrilled with her last Artist’s Palette (repeats from the previous one and quality not nearly as good) and having recently got the Too Faced Chocolate palette, I don’t really have any need or, more surprisingly, the desire to have this one. But, like Rikki, I’ll be eager to see your review of it if you do review it.

Nika Avatar

Pretty! I missed the holiday palette so I was like Ooooo but then I saw the price… =.= Not happening. Are they trying to compete with the price of NARSissist palette? lol But considering how much their other palettes cost, this price point seem like their ‘standard’. I wonder what oz of eye shadows is in this one, because the holiday palette had only 0.03oz per shadow and their other (more expensive) palettes seem to be 0.05oz per shadow, which would explain the price difference.

Susan Dowman Nevling Avatar

I own the earlier plumy neutral palette of about the same size and love the shadows. I like the colors in this one, but can’t spend $80.00. Too bad.

Maggie Avatar

Whoa. What a price hike! I would HAVE to see good swatches first–and even then…doubtful. I mean, it looks like I own similar colors and once it gets over $60 for a non-jumbo palette, to me, it would have to be unique colors and/or formulation to justify the price.

Nancy Avatar

I have the 2012 holiday artists palette, but I actually bought it in February 2013 for $45. I love it, but she keeps including the same colors, and the price almost DOUBLED?! They aren’t really “bonus” items if you have to pay $35 for a mini mascara and a smudge stick… definitely will have to pass on this one. Hope the price goes back down, otherwise I won’t be getting anything else by Laura Mercier for a long time 🙁

Lisa G Avatar

Missed out on both of the previous Artist palettes and I was going to grab this one, but the price is ridiculous! Mini sizes of a mascara and caviar stick (that I have no interest in) do NOT justify an extra $32.00 freaking dollars. So, I’m disappointed, but it’s not like there is a shortage of other palettes out there to choose from.

Kim Avatar

I was able to get my hands on the last artist palette but this one has some fun beautiful colors!! Please help me decide is it worth it??? Thanks
