Laura Mercier Bed of Roses, Forbidden Rose, Kiss From a Rose Caviar Sticks Reviews & Swatches

Bed of Roses
Laura Mercier Bed of Roses Caviar Stick ($29.00 for 0.05 oz.) is a soft, medium rosy copper with warm undertones and a sparkling sheen. It seemed to have more of a pearlized base with more visible flecks of sparkle throughout. The texture was smooth, emollient, and had great glide without being too slippery, which helped it apply directly from the tube but also work well with a fingertip.
For more diffused application, I preferred applying with a fingertip first, then going back with the product directly to layer and build up coverage as needed. It had mostly opaque coverage in a single layer but could be easily blended out for a sheerer wash of color. It stayed on well for nine hours before creasing a bit on my eye.

Forbidden Rose
Laura Mercier Forbidden Rose Caviar Stick ($29.00 for 0.05 oz.) is a deep, reddish-brown with subtle, warm undertones and a barely-there pearl sheen. It had a lot less visible sparkle compared to most shades that launched beside it.
The texture was smooth, thin, and had good glide, though it was harder for me to diffuse it evenly as a wash as the color seemed to settle/spread into fine lines and “pores” in a way. On deep skin tones, I’d expect those things to be less visible. It had mostly opaque color coverage that lasted well for eight and a half hours on me before fading noticeably.

Kiss From a Rose
Laura Mercier Kiss From a Rose Caviar Stick ($29.00 for 0.05 oz.) is a light pink with warmer undertones and a bright, sparkling sheen. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation with a smooth, lightly emollient texture that glided comfortably across my lid and deposited an even layer of color. It diffused fairly evenly with a fingertip and could be built up if desired if over-blended. This shade wore well for nine hours on me before creasing.

It would seem that the grades went down on these reformulated Cavier Sticks. However, Bed of Roses is a particularly lovely looking shade, I think.
Out of the three, I liked Bed of Roses best. I think it’s clever of the brand to explore the ‘Rose” theme so well.
Hi Genevieve, Mecca has a beautiful dupe to this in the Zoom Shadow Stick range, shade Metal. It maybe a pinch darker, the formula is excellent and it is AU$19 (the LM is AU$44). I received it in a recent promotion and it has made me a convert to shadow sticks.
I’ve been thinking about purchasing Bed of Roses. Now, based on your photos/review, I’m sold. It should be a pretty and easy look for summer! We just moved to Florida and easy is the key to my makeup here. It’s quite hot and humid daily!
Enjoy!! 🙂
I bought Kiss From a Rose and Bed of Roses and on my very fair skintone, they looked almost identical so I returned the slightly darker Bed of Roses. I also picked up the RoseGlow highlighter from this collection and returned that too. It’s no longer on Ulta’s site for some reason but the photo there showed it to be a pale neutral slightly cool pink but in person, it’s a warm champagne that’s too dark for me. Why do brands allow photos that look nothing like the product. This wasn’t a lighting issue, I honestly thought I received the wrong shade even though there’s only one.
