Lancome Color du Jour Color Design Eyeshadow

Lancome Color du Jour Color Design Eyeshadow ($18.00 for 0.042 oz.) is described as a “metallic golden eggplant.” It’s a reddish-burgundy with copper sparkle. The color payoff is decent but on the sheerer side. I’d love it if the texture was denser, because it feels a bit dry here. It’s redder, less plum, compared to MAC Trax. The color is more like MAC Star Violet but with gold shimmer and less frost.   I briefly tested this for a few hours to check on whether there would be fall out, and I’m happy to report that there was none after five hours of wear.

Lancome’s eyeshadows are actually formulated to be long-wearing with “pigment-packed color.” I don’t typically get quite so long in practice, though it’s not bad without a primer. I tend to get subtle creasing after eight hours without a primer, but when I use a primer, I have no issues at all, even after twelve hours.

This is my FAVORITE Lancome eyeshadow! It’s soooo unique, I haven’t seen anything like it! Though, it looks way more purple in person than it does in the pictures 🙂

I’ve found that I can get a more brilliant color out of sheer shadows by either using some of that Pixie Epoxy by Fyrinnae or Too Faced’s Glitter Glue. I put on a dab and then pat the shadow over it and it brings out the color even more than a base like Shadow Insurance or Primer Potion.

Me too. I can’t remember the shade names, but I have a minty green, turquoise and sort of greyish color and none of them blend nicely. They go on sort of streaky and make my eyelids look crepey. I don’t know why as they look fairly decent on my hand.

It looks great with copper and gold shadows. If you use a dark eyeshadow base- like Estee Lauder’s Doublewear shadow in Vintage violet, then it REALLY pops.

i actually work for lancome, and i must say their new limited edition eyeshadow “all that glitters” is definitely very unique and possibly the best eyeshadow in the entire line. a lot of them lack the color payoff like this one, but there are nice surprises here and there. their eye brightening 5 shadow palettes are very pigmented.

I work for them as well and I LOVE our 5 shadow palettes. The amount of pigment is insane! Even when I worked for Lauder, I still purchased Lancome shadows because of the quality.

My personal favorite singles are: Fashion Forward (it looks great if you wear it in the inner corner), Excursion, Drama, Trendy, and Pink Zinc.

I too work for Lancome and love the Color Design 5 pan (Amethyst Glam!) As for the Color Design Singles, Optic is such a great neutral/ blending color, It List is just a great true black that can be used as a liner or to really “cut the crease”, Volcano is a great crease blender looks good on such a range of skin tones, I could wear Drama every day and the new Miss Sweetheart D is lovely as well. I would love to know what you think of Caprice Rouge A’bsolu Lipstick Christine! It’s not Dragon but I found it works for a wide range of people.
As everyone has said thank you for the time you take to write this blog – I have been an avid reader for atleast a year and you do a truly amazing job!

If this was more pigmented, I’d say it looks like a gorgeous shade for green eyes. However, I just checked out your swatch of Star Violet and it is mesmerizing! Thank God I don’t live near a MAC counter 🙂 I don’t use eyeshadow enough to justify buying more of it. Thanks for the review.

I have this eyeshadow and love it. It does seems sheer going on, but I am amazed at good it makes my eyes look. It makes my hazel eyes really pop! I would encourage anyone considering this shade to try it on before writing it off. 🙂
