Kevyn Aucoin Starlight The Celestial Powder Review, Photos, Swatches
Kevyn Aucoin Starlight The Celestial Powder
Kevyn Aucoin Starlight The Celestial Powder ($44.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a champagne-shimmered peach with warm undertones and a luminous finish. bareMinerals The Premiere (LE, $26.00) is slightly more beige. Cle de Peau Sand Beige (13) (P, $55.00) is more golden. Chanel Dentelle Precieuse (LE, $80.00) is more beige but very similar applied. IT Cosmetics Hello Light (P, $24.00) is more metallic. bareMinerals The Magic Moment (LE, $26.00) is similar. Becca Rose Gold (LE, $38.00) is similar. Laura Mercier Spellbound (LE, $42.00) is similar. bareMinerals The Love Affair (LE, $26.00) is lighter. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
If you’re familiar with Candlelight, this is a new shade in the range. It’s darker and warmer, more orange/peach-based than beige-based. The texture was soft, almost creamy, and smooth that applied flawlessly to the skin; it was so, so easy to use as it blended beautifully and sat well on the skin without emphasizing pores but still giving off that luminous glow. Some products are just top notch; as soon as I applied this and saw it in the mirror, I was like, “Yep, that’s the stuff.” When I wore it, the effect lasted well for just over nine hours before fading. Only bummer is that when they redid the packaging on The Celestial Powder, they reduced the size quite a bit (0.17 oz. to 0.11 oz.), but the price is the same, and it would have been nice to see a slight price drop (maybe $36 or so).

There are some gems in the Kevyn Aucoin line and this seems like it may be one of them. I love that it is more peach and less beige as you say – makes for something a little different. And it suits your skin tone so well! Beautiful!
It is really well-done!
Too expensive. This will make me look like a Christmas tree. One of those ornaments with sparkles.
I like glitter but not sparkle all over my face.
I wish they had decreased price when they changed packaging!
Looks a little frosty in the swatch but it looks beautiful on!
It has a beautiful sheen applied!
It’s so itty bitty! This is more sparkly than what I prefer to put on my cheeks, but it looks very nice on you, Christine!
Thanks, Audrey!
I just got a sample of the Cindy-Lou Manizer (spelling?) from theBalm which looks similar to this, but might be a touch lighter and a little less peachy/more pink.
The Candlelight and the Mary-Lou Manizer are too …. bright?? (or perhaps too yellow) for my mid-40s skin tone.
I think this is subtler (less frosted!) and definitely warmer overall!
I need this, it’s so pretty.
So lovely on the skin!
It’s too dark/warm for me, but it’s nice to see more options for those with deeper skintones popping up.
For sure!
This is BEAUTIFUL! Love the warmth it adds to your face 🙂
Thank you, Joy!
Pretty! I want it.
Beautiful. I am surprised how peachy it is, but I like it. Kind of spendy, though, for me.
AH! Love. This would be more like a barely there blush for me, but want want want. I still haven’t gotten the Candlelight powder. And the list gets longer… This is permanent, right? How does it compare to Bobbi Brown Pink Glow as far as the finish goes?
Permanent! 🙂 It is less metallic than Pink Glow!
I almost feel it’s like what I wanted NARS Super Orgasm to be even though I know it’s highlighter. I’d have to swatch it before buying though.
I feel like this really brings out the green in your eyes!
Beautiful on you!
This is a really good review! Do you know of any drugstore dupes? Or if there are better formulas found in other brands? Thank you
I don’t know of any drugstore dupes, sorry 🙁
Christine, what is the shimmer content like compared to Candlelight?
I think it’s a little more obvious than Candlelight but not by much.
Im fair to light skin tone, can I wear this as a blush?
Sure!
You look gorgeous!! This blush also looks great on you.
OMG! NEED!!!
I don’t think it’d do well on me, I love candlelight tho! Looks beautiful on you
Oh my… whenever I see the Temptalia Recommends banner, it makes it so much harder to resist! 🙂 You look flawless here! 🙂
Hi Christine, do you think that this could work as a blush on really fair skin tones?
It could!
I know exactly what you mean by just knowing a product is the shizz as soon as you see it on. I mean – I read your review first before I scrolled down to the full face pics, but as soon as I saw it on you I was all ‘Yyyyep’. 😀
To phrase that better: as soon as I saw your flawlessly glowing complexion to which I knew (given the context) that the highlighter had been applied. It really shows up others that give that really shiny (+ possibly pore-y) look… O_o
how do you think it is compared to Cindy lou-manizer? Im deciding between this one and the balms. thanks 🙂
Ugh! I would love this on my NW48 skin!
It would!!
