Kevyn Aucoin Fira Pure Powder Glow Review, Photos, Swatches

Kevyn Aucoin Fira Pure Powder Glow
Kevyn Aucoin Fira Pure Powder Glow

Kevyn Aucoin Fira Pure Powder Glow ($37.00 for 0.21 oz.) is a fiery, red-orange with a satin finish. NARS Taos is more muted, shimmery. NARS Liberte is browner, more muted. NARS Exhibit A is most comparable, but it seems slightly muted when put side-by-side, and it is not as red-toned. MAC Hidden Treasure is redder, darker, more muted. See comparison swatches.

If you fall head-over-heels for intensely pigmented blushes, keep reading; and if you run in the opposite direction in fear, keep running. Fira is so richly pigmented–I see this working particularly well on deeper complexions–but it’s totally workable on even fair skin tones. You doubt me, but the texture is ultra-soft, finely-milled, and very blendable. The blendability enables the color to be diffused and softened on the skin to yield a subtle color. Of course, you’ll want to use a light hand and a feathery brush (like a fan or stippling brush) to avoid applying too much product right out of the gate, because a little goes a long, long way. The more it gets worked into the skin, the more luminous the finish becomes, but it never emphasizes pores. Fira wore well for eight hours when I wore it very softly, and when I wore it more heavily, it lasted well for almost nine hours.

P.S. — This is the last of my Kevyn Aucoin blush reviews! Hope you enjoyed 🙂

i love the kevyn aucoin reviews. i know its silly, but i much of my love for the brand comes just from his name being attached. it helps that the products are really great, too. the only thing i’ve tried and haven’t loved is the eyeliner. this blush is gorgeous!!! i wish my cheeks weren’t so red on their own, because i would love to wear this. what color eyeshadows/lipstick would you pair with this?

Same here, I love the line as it is his. The products being amazing are the cherry on top. I’ve loved his line since it came out, but back then I couldn’t find it easily nor could I afford it since I was a college kid, but now- I can! And it’s easier to find for me 🙂

Not something I would buy, but I really enjoy your writing! I’ve been reading your site for a while and noticed recently its been a lot less “dry” hope that’s not offensive cause its not meant t o be! 😉

I’m so happy to see someone reviewing KA products. I think his line is often over looked. What specific brushes would you recommend for this blush or any high pigment brush? I adore punchy blushes – but find applications tricky at times. This looks so lovely and glowy on you!

I love this blush and have had it for a solid year. It’s beautiful on women of color especially those in the deeper spectrum like myself. Gives such warmth to the skin. I do find Nars Exhibit A to be similiar but the fira is of a deeper red.

I love this blush! I totally agree with you on this. It’s very pigmented and comparable to Nars exhibit A, which I just purchased from Sephora!!

I love bold shades, but you do have to be careful if you’re as fair as I am. XD I’ve been in the market for a red blush for a long time but always felt NARS Exhibit A would pull too orange on me. Do you think this would work better for a cool-toned complexion?

Christine Avatar

Yes – NARS Exhibit A is DEFINITELY more orange than this one is. This is still a warmer blush, though.

Have you tried MAC Frankly Scarlet? That is redder/bluer blush, I think! They also have a really dark pink one that might pull closer to a bluish-red (though it may look more bluish-pink when sheered out) that I can’t remember the name of.

Veronica Avatar

I didn’t know MAC’s Frankly Scarlet, so thank you for the rec. 🙂 I’ll have to give it a look. Sometimes I look at warmer reds for my skintone because they’ll pull more neutral than a blue-red, which will sometimes go fuschia on me. Odd how that works. 🙂
