The lipsticks look pretty, but they’re much too dark for my face.

I got those little Saint and Sinner tester bottles from Sephora a few weeks ago. I find both scents ok, but as a KvD fan, I found them disappointing.

Sinner is more along the lines of something I would like, and I even bought the purse spray after testing it. It’s warm and spicy, but too simple, if that makes sense. On me, the cinnamon and patchouli stand out, with a bit of vanilla, spice, and floral in the background. It doesn’t change much from first spray to dry down.

Saint is a cute scent. That’s the best way I can put it. Sweet, floral, and girly. Vanilla, fruit, flowers, and a little musk. Like Sinner, Saint also stays pretty much the same from the time I put it on until it wears off.

Both Saint and Sinner are pleasant enough, but they lack depth and fade quickly (on me). The full size bottle designs for Saint and Sinner are awesome, though.

I’ve heard there’s a Saint/Sinner eyeshadow palette in the works. That sounds pretty cool!

Please share this review on Fragrantica!
Love reading different people’s perspectives on fragrances.
These perfumes don’t seem that interesting to me, but this set is cute.

Can you believe I fought the urge to buy this? LOL! Christine, I reviewed both fragrances for my beauty group, if you think any of your readers (or you!) would want to see the reviews, I can post them here. Up to you – don’t want to clog up your page 😉

Kat Von D Sinner (2017). I purchased this oriental floral as a blind buy out of curiosity. If you’ve seen the new bottles for the 2017 release; they’re amazing but I wasn’t inclined to go fb on this blind buy. Still, the travel sprays are quite lovely in their own right.

I think I expected Sinner to be a much louder fragrance than it is. It is a floral oriental with a moderate projection. The cinnamon, patchouli, and wood notes are the most pronounced while the florals are quite blurred; you really must sniff with concentration to detect one over another. Sinner does seem to be a reasonable representation of an “edgy, unapologetic, and outspoken” woman. It pushes some boundaries yet stops short of being that obnoxious, loud, piece of work that makes you you cringe when you see her.

“Kat Von D Beauty’s most requested collection of all time is returning at last and better than ever. Meet Sinner—dark, sultry, and empowering, this enticing fragrance sweetens a bouquet of jasmine and orange blossom with notes of vanilla, mandarin, and Mirabelle plum. Spicy cinnamon envelops white florals at the heart of the fragrance, while base notes of vetiver, patchouli, and wood form the deeper, darker nuances. Experience confidence in a bottle; Sinner is the fragrant embodiment of the edgy, unapologetic, and outspoken Kat Von D we know and love.

Sinner shares the same floral soul as Saint, with a bold, spicy twist. Different experiences, shared heart—these sister-scents can be worn alone or layered together.” (Note – I purchased both travel sprays. I will review Saint after I’ve had a chance to test.)

Kat Von D Saint (2017).

Saint does indeed share the same floral soul as Sinner. In fact, Saint is Sinner with the spicy/warm notes removed. It’s a classic, light, creamy floral with just a touch of sweetness for good measure. I get a light jasmine (one of my favorite notes) and tiare flower over a soft, lightly citrusy, creamy, light musk base. Saint wears somewhere between a skin scent and one with a light projection on me. It’s delicate and quietly beautiful. It’s a floral that can easily be worn in the Summer without it becoming “too much” in the heat.

“Kat Von D Beauty’s most requested collection of all time is returning at last and better than ever. Meet Saint—soft, alluring, and dreamy, this gourmand fragrance sweetens a bouquet of jasmine and tiaré flower with notes of mandarin, caramel, and sparkling Mirabelle plum. Vanilla, sandalwood, and creamy musk build to the romance of the perfume, imparting a warmth that reminds Kat of falling in love for the very first time. Saint is a poetic exploration of the lesser-known, softer side of Kat Von D.

Saint shares the same floral soul as Sinner, with a sweet and gourmand twist. Different experiences, shared heart—these sister-scents can be worn alone or layered together.”

Not liking these LTLE things, unless they are a test marketing on the path to permanent. The scents hold no interest, and what formula needs a liner less than kvdll? The ll color is killer, though. Idk, it’s easy to say no to these; did for the grays.

If anyone was wondering how this turned out, it was kind of disappointing. Should have known better. 🙁 This is my first KVD lip pencil, and I’m not impressed at all, it’s patchy and not very pigmented. I could definitely not use this lip pencil by itself. I also don’t feel like it’s necessary to use a lip pencil with a transfer proof lipstick and that this was just a way to get more money out of us suckers. I don’t have any other lipsticks this dark of a purple (that’s why I decided to order), so I am not super likely to use the pencil with other products unless I need to try to deepen something. And, to boot, I think the pencil is making the liquid lipstick melt off faster, need to test with and without some more to tell for sure. This is a pretty neutral purple, but it’s so super matte that it looks a little ashy on me, which is disappointing. I was also right in the suspicion that this was just blue enough to make my olive skin practically glow green. The older I get, the less purple I use in makeup and clothes because I’ve slowly realized it’s really not flattering for my skintone, although dark purple is WAY better than pastel purple. But anyway, I would probably have liked this more if it was not quite as starkly matte. And I feel like it’s not performing as well as other KVD liquid lipstick colors (I’ve just tried her mid-tones before), it’s crumbling off my lips worse than I was hoping and is making me think of Colourpop’s super dark shades that also tend to have issues. KVD is not actually one of my favorite liquid lipstick brands, although I know a lot of other people super like it.
