Kat Von D Serpentina Eyeshadow Palette for July 2016
Kat Von D Serpentina Eyeshadow Palette
Are you darlings ready for KvD’s newest limited edition eyeshadow palette?! Inspired by the jewels and gilded accents of ancient Egypt, Serpentina features a brand new palette configuration with 8 high-pigment pressed eyeshadows in shimmer, matte and pearl finishes, plus a Kat Von D Beauty first—a removable jar of metallic gold loose pigment!
This little pigment pot (which Kat aptly named “Prophet”!) delivers big on uses—you can gild lids, comb through lashes and brows, mixing with primer for a custom gold highlighter, or pat over your favorite shade of Everlasting Liquid Lipstick. The rest of the to-die-for shades in the palette are formulated in Kat’s signature triple-milled, super-pigmented formula for instant, opaque payoff and silky blendability. With exclusive artwork hand-drawn by Kat, Serpentina will be your new go-to for gorgeous eye looks—just don’t forget to do as Cleopatra would and finish with a fierce Kat Eye!

I am eagerly awaiting this! As a belly dancer, the intensely pigmented jewel tones and the Egyptian theme really resonate with me… And the fact that there’s a green eyeshadow named Scarab just seals the deal! (I have a green scarab tattoo)
Have you seen the chrome-effect nail powders you rub onto a black nail polish base? There’s one that really looks like iridescent beetle shells on the fingernails. I saw them demonstrated in YouTube videos and they’re stunning! An effect that can’t come from a liquid polish, for sure.
I can’t believe how fast this sold out at kvds site last night. Makes me nervous for tomorrow!! The swatches I’ve seen are so pretty! I hope it performs well, its very hit or miss with her.
Whew…I thought it was on Sephora today and I already missed it! Crazy that one has to plan for a makeup release the same way I do for concert tickets…crazy world.
It is not yet available on sephora, it says “coming soon” so hopefully you can still grab it. Kat said it will be released on her site the 5th, and sephora the 6th.
I feel like there’s no way you could create a look using only this (which is okay sometimes). Considering they just discontinued the monarch palette, you’d think they’d want a new warm, complete palette in their line.
I’m sad to hear that because it’s my favourite Monarch palette EVERY from the line.
I get why people prefer palettes that can create complete looks, but the fact that so many palettes do that is the very reason I tend not to buy palettes (the only useful exception being maybe one small, multipurpose travel palette). I much prefer Viseart’s “whole palette of mediums,” and “whole palette of darks” approach.
I agree as someone who also has a lot of makeup (and I love Viseart), but this doesn’t even seem cohesive to me. Even if you bring in a matte palette for blending and whatnot, it’s an odd collection of colors.
I’m on the fence with this one… On the one hand, the colors are all very pretty-in the pan; with the exception of the matte red & purple, and possibly the green, I can’t see myself getting much use out of it. On the other hand, I haven’t passed on any of her palettes since the original Mi Vida Loca palette, and the “collector” in me still wants it, LOL! Either way, I don’t see myself jumping through any hoops trying to get it, and I have other things I want ATM.
One thing I can say for certain, from the swatches I’ve seen, this palette will look *stunning* on deeper skintones!
The angel on one shoulder is whispering ‘You need this like you need another Vice palette.’ The devil on the other shoulder is drowning it out, loudly singing ‘I won’t grow up, I won’t grow up.’
I think I might really love these colors!! ????
I bet the one voice is now whispering, “Wait … another Vice palette? What a great idea!” 😉
It seems like a lot of brands are coming out with eyeshadows/palettes featuring burgundy/bronze/emerald/navy shades. It’s a nice change from all the natural tones!
Since I’m such a makeup addict, I have enough bold jewel tone shadows in my collection, so I don’t need this palette, but I’m really tempted because I love the Egyptian theme
It makes me nervous that the only swatches I’ve seen look INCREDIBLY different from how the pans look. I want to see a real review–hopefully from you!–or some swatches and reviews on camera before deciding to buy, but the hype is so big with this that it’s selling out lightning fast. Do you think they’ll restock so we can have time to decide if we REALLY want to purchase? I’m also interested to see an in-depth review of the Urban Decay Moondust palette so I can decide what will be my fun new palette this late summer/fall!
Sorry to sound like such a broken record but I absolutely love this palette except for the red (Bloodmilk) and orange (Hieroglyph). Medusa and Ankh especially look like my sort of shades and the others all look promising too – even Queen (see, I am sort of moving out of my comfort zone).
It is a stunning palette, for sure. My only concern is that it having seen more than one set of Kat’s arm swatches on 3 models, in one set the shades appear to be renamed Crushed Metals and super dark shades, and in a more current batch of swatches, all the shades appear lighter? I don’t know that you have this palette yet. And I trust your swatches and opinion on this palette if you perchance review it.
Love the theme, love the jewel tones, love the addition of a loose pigment…but…will be passing. I feel I have enough dupes of the jewel tones in this palette that I would actually wear. I can’t justify the cost for more dupes that won’t see the light of day; especially since I feel this is not really a grab and go palette since most people will have to add transition shades, etc. from other palettes.
Love, but it sold out too fast. I’ll console myself with the UD Moondust palette.
I can’t wait to see this swatched.
5 shades, (the pigment included) (blue, green, gold, copper and the cranberry) look similar to the crushed metal shadows.. !!. the colours seems quite repetitive. 🙁
Looks really good. I did not buy the Vida loca Palette and still regret it and it is really hard to find ist now for a acceptable price. So I should not think about this too Long.
Just love the jewel tones…. I hope it is good.
This palette is right up my alley! Loving all of the jewel-tones!
This looks lovely, however I already have UD Urban Spectrum and am more than happy with it!
Waiting for this with baited breath. It was available for a second and then not in stock. I’m hoping it was a website glitch and they’re not sold out.
Just purchased it on Sephora’s website at around 2:20pm(EST). It’ll be my first foray into Kat Von D’s eyeshadows, so I’m pretty excited!
So excited!! I was able to purchase the palette! Yay!! The exotic looks I will be able to create with these will be amazing!
Put it in my shopping cart only to have it disappear and go out of stock when I tried to sign in and checkout. An hour later, it was back in stock again and I was able to complete the buy. Who knows. Surely annoying and leading to hype next time around. I don’t really need it but must have it for the Egyptian theme. I even based my website on similar colors – beautiful color combo with the dark blue, tan sand, and palm green of the Nile river! Gold and jeweltones just top the cake.
