Is your beauty stash dominated by any particular brand(s)?

Is your beauty stash dominated by any particular brand(s)? Share which brands are most represented!

In general, I would say that I have a great variety of brands in my stash! I think the ones that dominate are ones that put out a lot of products (like MAC), and it skews mid to high-end.

Mine really isn’t dominated by a brand. The closest would be Urban Decay, but only because I have a bunch of the 24/7 Glide On eyeliner pencils and all of the Naked palettes. I couldn’t put together a full face of make up–eyes, face & lips–with Urban Decay, though. Or with any of the other brands I have, for that matter.

I’ve been so in to Marc Jacobs as their packaging looks so great and most of the products that I’ve been interested in perform pretty well. My recent purchases in the past 6-8 months were dominated by them.

Now I’m on to Colourpop since they are so affordable and great in quality. I would love to fill in the blanks of the collection with their products to get a wider range of shades

Ryou Avatar

There’s quite a variety in my stash! It all depends on how much I like certain formulas and how unique the shades are.

For example, I’m partial to small indie brands when it comes to loose eyeshadows, so I own a lot of indie loose eyeshadow samples. I love long-wearing cream eyeshadows, so I sort of collect Maybelline Color Tattoos. I love hydrating, semi-opaque, semi-glossy lipsticks, so I own a lot of Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butters. I also love hybrid loose/cream eyeshadow formulas, so I keep a few Armani Eyes to Kill Intense around.

At the same time, I own some products that I bought mainly for the shade, but don’t necessarily have a collection of. For this category, a lot are limited edition formulas, like the Sephora+Pantone Universe Light Storm Liquid Shadow in Tuscany and Essence Cream Blush in Ice Bomb.

Sure is! Most of the makep products (like 80%, it just works, what can I say) is MAC and most of my skincare (about 90%) is from The Body Shop. With skincare I think I’ll be switching to Korean brands when I finish what I have and with makeup I work into adding more stuff from NARS, MUFE and will be seriously looking into Urban Decay when it gets here next month.

Janie Avatar

I thought I’d be solely with Clinique until my dying day, but not anymore! I think every eyeliner I own is Urban Decay, and a decent amount of my other eye makeup is as well. Awesome color range that doesn’t bug my impossibly oversensitive skin. How lucky is that? I can wear eye makeup again!

However, UD may get challenged soon by a recent large haul from Makeup Revolution, which appears to be one of the few less expensive lines that offers eyeshadow palettes in cool- rather than warm-toned neutrals. A few reviewers have said, “Why did I spend all that money on UD Naked again…?” MR may also become a big part of my lipstick stash, if they’re as good as some reviewers have said.

If anyone else here has to deal with crazy-picky skin, let me know what brands you like, please? Clinique is my go-to for foundation and powders still, but I’m just not happy with them. And I’m not somewhere where makeup counter consultations are really worth it. I live in the Happy Land of Aquanet!

Rachel R. Avatar

I love Makeup Revolution. I just wish the shipping to the US weren’t so high. I really like the Salvation Palettes and the Atomic lip colors. They make a ton of dupes for popular products, right down to the packaging, which I’m sure you’ve noticed. It’s much too tempting. lol

Janie Avatar

True on the shipping, and I’ve learned to go with full tracking on anything I buy from Britain that doesn’t have a non-Royal Mail option. Hopefully Makeup Revolution will catch on in the states so they can afford to cut shipping rates.

Ha, I bought the Atomic palette! That’s what led me to their site: an article/review about brands that offer atypical lipsticks besides Lime Crime and Melt.

Honestly you don’t want to know how much I got, but with their prices and my 20% off coupon, plus their current 3-for-2 palette deal, it was near impossible to pass up. So if you’re looking to re-up palettes… and I think the Salvations were all included.

Ten years ago, it would most definitely have been MAC but today, it’s pretty much a small showcase for everything Sephora sells (vbg). Mainly MAC, UD, Clarins, Too Faced, Nars and Guerlain, with a fair bit of Hourglass, Stila, Tarte, Bite and Clinique thrown in for good measure. Oh, and Inglot and Tarina Tarantino, Sephora’s own house brand and GOSH.

pePear Avatar

it used to be only MAC that had a whole shelf on it own but recently,I bought more products from Make Up For Ever than in the past three years and I just give MUFE products one shelt too,so right now it MAC and MUFE that dominated in my stash! 🙂

Michal Avatar

My stash is 95% MAC. I love the brand for the quality and for their variety of products, as well as for the service I always get from the guys and girls who work there. In comparison to drugstore brands in my country, MAC is often the same price or even cheaper, and the quality is superior.

KaseyCannuck Avatar

Urban Decay edges out MAC, due to the number of their palettes that I own. There are brands that dominate specific products:
Eyeshadows-Urban Decay
Eyeliners-Urban Decay
Blushes-MAC
Lipsticks-MAC
All other products are a nice mix.

julia Avatar

There is a fair amount of Chanel and Rimmel in mine, simply because both brands tend to release colours and collections that suit my colouring much better. Well that and Rimmel is often on 50% sale and the SA at my local Chanel counter is ridic nice and it’s the first counter I go to when I’m in that part of the store.

Rachel R. Avatar

I’m don’t think any particular brand(s) dominate(s) my stash currently. The exception would be mascaras: Due to my allergies, those are dominated by Almay and Physician’s Formula. I don’t own very much of anything in any of the very high end/luxury brands.

For a very long time, BareMinerals dominated my makeup collection because my ultra-oily skin and allergies were such huge problems.

Summer Avatar

For make-up,it’s Urban Decay, without a doubt. Their dedication to putting out exceptional products across the board, and their range of vegan products, keeps me coming back. The fun colors that are more difficult to dupe or are so original (Fireball and Sin, for example) shows a dedication to trying new things. And that can be tough to find with other brand. I’m happy to throw money at a brand that I feel cares about their fans and that is exclusive at times. I hope to find some new favorites in other, less mainstream brands, like Fyrinnae. For nail polish, it’s Zoya; for many of the same reasons!

Raeanne Avatar

I just started collecting makeup about two years ago, so my stash consists of a lot of different products from many mid-range brands. So far, I have gone out of my way to purposefuly buy more NARS and Urban Decay products. Real Techniques and Sephora brand dominate my brush collection. Nail polish collection is dominated by O.P.I.

Brenda P Avatar

hmmm.. purely by eyeshadows and blush numbers, I’d say Mac. But I have a wide range of brands for everything. Oh, wait. Lipsticks are clearly dominated by Mac and Revlon LOL. So it’s Mac.

I have to say though, most of that is from 4 years ago and previous. I haven’t purchased much at all from them in a few years.

Ceranna Avatar

I do have a lot of Urban Decay. I fell hard for their eyeshadow formula years ago. It was one of the first eyeshadows that did not melt off my lid (this was before primers became so popular). I love their lipstick formula as well. Whenever they come out with something new, I got to try it! My stash as a hold leans more mid range to drugstore. I’m a bang for your buck kind of girl.:-)

Olivia Avatar

My beauty stash is all over the place. I would say my lip products are mostly budget-friendly and my face products are more high end. There is not one brand that dominates it. Except eyes. Too-Faced dominates my eye products. But pretty much everything else is all over the place.

I was actually cleaning out my lip stash last night. Saying goodbye to a lot of stuff that I feel like I was just hoarding but not necessarily using. Making room for those MAC Mattes coming out!

Brittany Avatar

Not especially dominated, I’d say, but most of my eyeshadows are from the three Kat Von D palettes I have, Sugarpill, and Shiro Cosmetics and a lot of my lip products are MAC lipsticks or a bunch of Nyx products. Most of my face stuff (powder, blush, “bronzer”/contour) is MAC.

Overall, I have a decent variety of things, though.

Lotus Avatar

Hahahaha! Easily MAC & Urban Decay have the largest collection, but fair amount mentions go to Koh Gen Do, Giorgio Armani, Chanel, Dior, and most def Charlotte Tilburry! 😛 Are we talking skincare too? That’s another story completely but has a giant can’t miss it stock.. Sigh.

Lotus Avatar

Whoa! I forgot my love, Marc Jacobs! And Clinique & Lancome stocked from back when.. I missed nothing. 🙂 And the Estée Lauder eye shadows have their bin, too! Now ColourPop is coming someday when the ship it, haha! 🙂 Feel free to shop my stash! 😉

Meghan Avatar

I would say it’s a lot of Makeup Geek, MAC, Urban Decay. It’s mostly mid to high end also (Illamasqua, Chanel, some Burberry). I don’t have a lot of drug store stuff because it seems hard to find in stock/ unused items near me & I order a lot of stuff online which usually excludes drug store.

Nancy T Avatar

Yes, absolutely! I own a sizable amount of MAC, Urban Decay, Nyx and quite a lot of Maybelline Color Sensational lipsticks and Color Tattoos. Also 2 Lorac palettes, but that doesn’t even begin to get close to the shear volume that I have from the aforementioned brands! And now I’m also falling in love with MUFE and ColourPop, but only have a few MUFE products so far.

Terri Avatar

I would say I have a really good mix of brands, but dominated by a few leaders. I have a lot of Smashbox (my local drugstore carries it), Urban Decay, Tarte and even Bare Minerals. I favour cruelty free brands, so they have definitely dominated my purchases for the last few years. Colour Pop is super tempting, and I just got a nice shipment in earlier this week. But by the time you add the exchange, shipping and duty (I live in Canada), it was almost double the price. So that won’t be happening too often!

For lips though, I do have a lot of Revlon lip butters. Like almost all of them. And Maybelline colour tattoos. I like cream shadows, and those actually stay put on my oily lids.

Lee Avatar

Pretty much MAC, especially for lipsticks – out of 120 lipsticks maybe five aren’t MAC. Most of my eye shadow is MAC too although I have a fair number of Urban Decay palettes and a few NARS and MUFE. Most of my blushes are Benefit although I keep wanting to try the Clinique color pops.

IRockFaces Avatar

I like something from everyone so its fair to say I have no clear winners except for lipsticks which are from melt and makeup brushes which are 90% Marc Jacobs. I kid you not his face brushes are worth every single dime. Lol

koolchicken Avatar

I never really thought about it, but I guess I do have some brands more prominently featured than others in my collection. I have celiac disease so it kind of limits me in what I can use, a lot of companies have wheat in their products. For example, a lot of MAC products contain gluten, I can never remember which ones so I just avoid 3/4 of the brand (I’ll roll the dice with eyeshadow but that’s about it). I have primarily Tarte, Too Faced and Urban Decay stuff. Everything tarte makes is gluten free so I buy my foundations and blushes and such from them, as well as other stuff. I could totally do a full face look with tarte products every day I have enough of the range. All but one of Too Faced’s products are gf so I’ve bought a ton of their palettes, and all UD eyeshadows are gf so I own a crazy number of their palettes plus some other stuff

miekogirlie99 Avatar

i like to think im pretty spread out but if i sorted through it all i’d probably see a lot more MAC products because of all the darn collections that come out lol

Susan Dowman Nevling Avatar

Urban Decay followed by Laura Mercier. I have tons of other brands including IT and Clinique but those are most common.

doroffee Avatar

My stash is pretty eclectic; there’s no reigning brands here. I would say the brands I have the most products from are probably Catrice, Essence, Rival de Loop Young and Avon.

Genevieve Avatar

Like most people, I have a variety of brands – for eye shadow palettes I have UD, Guerlain, Lancôme, Dior, bareMinerals, Tarina Tarintino.
For foundation: Rimmel and Elizabeth Arden
Nails – China Glaze and OPI
Lipsticks – lots of Maybelline, Revlon, NYX – a range.

TerriLynn Avatar

I would day that it is mostly dominated by Too Faced and Makeup Geek-especially their foiled eye shadows. I also have a quite a bit of Sephora’s house brands. I have recently started getting quite a bit of ColourPop.

Cherry S. Avatar

Yes, depends on the item though. Foundation/Lipstick- Mac Cosmetics, eye shadow- Too Faced, eye/lip liners- NYX, concealer- Amazing Cosmetics

Cat Avatar

This question had me opening all the drawers to double check — but Urban Decay and Fyrinnae are in the lead because I have a weak spot for eyeshadow. Buxom has no competition, though, when it comes to lip products, mostly because I love their glosses AND because Sephora loves to give them away. (I have at least thirty unopened Buxom glosses.) Other than that, my products span the board.

M Avatar

Laura Mercier and now ColourPop! Otherwise, I do have a good variety, Julep, Hourglass, Chanel, Urban Decay, NARS, for example. I can do my full face with my LM products. Really a great brand that I only truly started using a couple years ago when I had my face done at a Nordstrom beauty event. Now I’m friends with the girl at the LM counter there! Haha.

Toni Avatar

I have a variety of brands but I would say that my eyeshadow palettes are mostly Urban Decay, blushes Milani, lots of Nyx lipsticks too.

Lezlie Avatar

Definitely Beauticontrol, due to my being a rep for so many years. I also have lots of Lancome and Estee Lauder since I cannot resist a free offer. And, now thanks to QVC and HSN, I have oodles of Laura Geller and IT.

Janet Avatar

I have a bit of everything, mostly mid to high end just because I have super sensitive skin and it seems to not stress my skin out as much. I would have to say right now it mainly consists of tom ford for foundation, primer and cream eye shadows ( love tom ford!) chanel for foundations, powders, highlighters, bronzers, urban decay and Lorac for eye shadow ( tried many and still reach for one of my naked palettes daily) la mer for concealer and foundation and laura mercier for their powders and eye shadow sticks (love them!) and yes I have a major addiction to foundation! Have well over 25 formulas lol. Oh and Dior for their air flash foundation and skin flash highlighting pen, the best! Wow that was a lot, I would love to read a post about what is their favorite product from each brand!

Nikki J. Avatar

Recently, while doing my makeup I realized that majority of the products that I use regularly come from Make Up For Ever. Seriously, I love that brand! It can do no wrong in my eyes.

Jackie Avatar

I have mostly MAC (lipsticks and blushes) and Tarte in my stash, although I do own a lot of Revlon and Maybelline lipsticks, as well. NYX products would probably come a close third to MAC and Tarte in my collection.

Elizabeth Avatar

Most of my cosmetics are Urban Decay, and I have a bunch of backups of favorites that got discontinued or the color dropped. NARS is the brand I have the second most, then Stendhal Paris. I do also have odds and ends from BeneFit, Too Faced, MAC, and Chanel, and I love Diorshow mascara. I have odds and ends from the drug store too, like L’Oreal, Jane, and Physician’s Formula as well as some of the better performing Hard Candy as well. I really have too many products, but I just love them, and have plenty to transition from season to season, and I have enough colors to follow every trend. My nonmakeup junkie friends don’t get it, but I love sharing my stash with friends who love it just as much as I.

Jen Avatar

I would say a little bit of everything. KVD and NARS are my favourite. Not a fan of Clinique though, and brands like Dior, YSL and Chanel just don’t interest me. (Most the colours these brands sell you can find super cheap dupes of IMO). Recently added a lot of MAC face products (blush, bronzer etc,.) however not a fan of the eyeshadows.

MIA Avatar

MAC for sure is the majority of my stash. I have quite a bit of Urban Decay as well but I want to start to work and build up ColourPop!
