Illamasqua Sangers Lipstick
Illamasqua Throb Collection: Sangers
Illamasqua Sangers Lipstick (£15.50 for 0.14 oz.) is described as a “blood red,” but it is very much a true red. It doesn’t pull blue or orange, though if you have yellower undertones, it may seem a touch orange-based when you wear it (and similarly, blue-based if you have pinker undertones). It is incredibly rich in color, needing very little product to yield opaque color coverage, and applies smoother than the average Illamasqua lipstick. Sangers is such a saturated product it wears for six to eight hours.
my thoughts on the formula: Illamasqua’s Lipstick formula feels a little dry when applied, but let it warm up on your lips, because it really isn’t the drying kind. It does hug the lips, though, which makes it a much longer wearing lipstick (six hours or more). They are also scent- and taste-free.

final thoughts: It’s such a beautiful shade of red–it is not always easy to find true reds, and this is gorgeous rendition. Illamasqua’s formula is excellent for how long it wears, but I could do with a touch more creaminess overall.

Gorgeous! Love this colour.
Am I going crazy or has the Tom Ford perfume post disappeared? How come??
It’s a couple posts below this one? Didn’t go anywhere!
Ooops, sorry! I’m so silly…I was viewing your page on a small screen and I guess I scrolled too fast and totally missed it :o)
wow. love it!
Wow that really is a real red. Its beautiful. Too bad im scared of wearing red lol
wow this colour looks amazing!
I just got mine and I should preface by saying that Illamasqua’s Box is my favorite red, even trumping my previous fav MAC’s Russian Red. I found Sangers to be more sheer than the 3 other Illamasqua reds that I have (Box, Maneater and Tramp) and a very true red. They all wear for about 6 hours on me as well w/o touch up and if you love a matte lippie then these are great. Not quite as drying at MAC.
Which shade of the Illamasqua reds would you say is the most warm (orange) based?
Beautiful: This looks SO good on you.
Wow, Christine, this shade looks gorgeous on you!!! I love how creamy it looks
Wow! Nothing else to say ;). Suits you so well!
WOW, just Wow Christine! Looking at that pic of you wearing Sangers up close it looks like I’m staring at a field of poppies! LOL So blindingly red it makes the eyes throb or gives you a headache or something! I love it!
I’m surprised that they suggested it for me in Illamasqua the other day actually, but I bought Sangers and I wear it with MAC Mahogany lip pencil, and I look fabulous in it! LOL I got great reactions from wearing it too.
Ugh, this is too awesome! I love a good red lipstick… Wish this were easier to see in person! I hate ordering online when I haven’t had a chance to try something out in real life.
Sangers pulls at my heartstrings. I shall have to order it ASAP, in pounds. (Look at that amazing coverage! Incredible.)
LOVE the satin-y finish!
Love it!
Gorgeous shade but it does look dry… would prefer it with a glossier finish.
Stunning! both texture and color payoff. Hope it’s not too dry for my lips. might have to try out next time 🙂
This… is red perfection. Bravo, Illamasqua! Any word on whether it’ll be available at Sephora?
Yes!
Wow.Love it.
Wow, what a stunning red! Has a real Rocky Horror vibe to it 🙂
Shame it’s so expensive though.
I’m really loving your lip pose in this photo 😛 Cute.
This colour is gorgeous!
Hi Christine, tks for this review. I was wondering if you would know how Sangers compares to Illamasqua’s Encounter pls? I have and LOVE Encounter 😀 Thanks!
I think that’s the truest red I’ve ever seen in a lipstick! It looks gorgeous! Plus, the lighting in your close up photo does look different, more natural, less artificial light. Gorgeous, gorgeous and gorgeous!
Wow! This lipstick has a really great finish!
If no one suggested it or you haven’t tried it already, you should put that Illamasqua Succubus over top of this and show us how that looks – it might be really pretty spiffy =D
Wow! So gorgeous! But I just splurged on that cle de peau lipstick in Red Abundance…your swatches took my breath away and I just had to have it even if it was a full day’s pay. 😉 Is Sangers LE? If not I’ll be picking it up eventually! Love the illamasqua lipstick formula, ultra-matte and lasts forevaaaa with out being TOO drying!
Should be perm!
Hi Christine,
Do you know if this and the lipgloss are going to be at Sephora anytime soon? I saw that Sephora has the main image for the Throb Collection up on the website, but no mention of either lip products or the other products.
It looks like a perfect red color. Not leaning towards warm or cool undertones too much.
OMG, this lip color is HOT. I think I need this one.
Reds always look amazing on you!
Gorgeous! I need that color!
This lipstick is absolutely stunning on you! and so opaque it’s a beautiful color!
that’s gorgeous!
Va-va-voom!
Gorgeous color and it looks so good on you, Christine! 🙂
Looks amazing on you- what did you use for lipliner?
I do not use lip liner in swatch photos! 🙂
Christine, do you know if they will be carrying this shade at Sephora? I don’t see it on their site 🙁
Yes, they will!
Hey, how do you compare this to Russian Red and Ruby Woo…which colour do you feel out of the three suits your skin tone (I ask as it seems similar to mine) Thanks
It is not like either, as this is a true red, and both of those are blue-based. I like them all – just depends on your taste, but I feel they are all suitable on me!
Hi Christine! Beautiful red lip! I am an NC50 in Mac or a 70 or 75 in Make Up Forever Mat Velvet Matifying and a 170 in their HD foundation. Can you recommend a good Illamasqua red lipstick for my skintone?
Sangers is my favorite Illamasqua red and should work with any complexion! 🙂
