Illamasqua Pure Pigment Review, Photos, Swatches (Furore)
Illamasqua Pure Pigment in Furore
Illamasqua Furore Pure Pigment ($24.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a gorgeous shade of gilded, muted copper-bronze. It’s really a beautiful color that can be used as a loose highlighter dusted on cheeks or decolletage or used wet as an easy all-over lid color or as an eyeshadow base for neutral and bronzy looks.
I thought I had reviewed a Pure Pigment before, but apparently I never got around to it, other than this brief rant in a look I used it in originally. The first Pure Pigment I tried was Static, which was a gorgeous color, but the texture wasn’t very smooth (even when used wet) and the packaging drove me batty.
Furore has a much, much nicer texture. It’s almost like night and day! It’s smooth, soft, and really melts together when used wet. The packaging is still the same — very bulky and it’s easy for the pigment to poof out, but I definitely noticed less “poof” than I had previously. I didn’t end up with more on my counter than my eye with Furore.
The worst part about Pure Pigments is the size. It’s a mere 0.04 oz. That’s tiny. That’s almost ridiculous when compared with MAC Pigments (even with the size reduction, they’re still 0.15 oz–almost 4 times the size). Make Up For Ever’s pigments also vary between 0.07 and 0.09 oz. No, you don’t need a lot, so it’s hard to imagine really going through even the 0.04 oz. particularly quickly, but I really can’t believe how little you get.

RECOMMENDATION: If you don’t mind the small quantity you get, then Furore is a fantastic neutral shade. It’s not too bronzy or frosty–it’s kind of like a cross between a metallic and frost, but it’s not too much. I can see it working as a very versatile shade.
WHERE TO BUY: Sephora
Your lead picture is beautifully shot.
Thanks!
I’m not sure about illamasqua’s pigments, I think I could dupe them and get more product…hmmm.
Oh! just so you guys now, I was at an illamasqua counter today (Newcastle)and they have new shades for the rich liquid foundation! There’s a 115, a 133(might have been 130) and a 150 which the artist mentioned to me, but they might have more.
*This is NOT the light liquid foundation which was reformulated with new shades but the rich foundation*
Thank you for sharing the new shades, Simone 🙂
have you tried any of the powdered metals christine? i got one for christmas and have hardly used it because i have no idea what to do with it :S thanks x
Just one, but I’m not done testing it yet!
Those are waaay overpriced and are totally not worth it. I am so dissapointed with most of the Illamasqua products. The quality really sucks. The eye products crease like there is no tomorrow. I would not recommend this brand at all.
Is there a dupe for this in Mac Pigments?
It’s almost like a mix of Tan and Blonde’s Gold.
I love love love Illamasqua pigments… they are however way too expensive and I hate the packaging. I have a few of the pigments and I love the colour intensity, the finishes, etc… but I depotted every single one into little round travel pots. So much easier to work with but off-putting for many people, I imagine.
$24 for 1,4 g? REALLY?
I have Furore, and as far as loose pigment goes, I love it. Better than texture of MAC’s, and I dare say MUFE. Problem is pigments are a pain for me to use, and I don’t like buying them anymore. This one is definitely all-purpose though.
Ameera – for someone to say that Illamasqua is poor quality, you obviously don’t understand the brand.
Everybody has their own experiences 🙂
We don’t get this brand in Africa, but I have to agree with Christine on her comment. She is totally right. A product that works wonderfully for one person, totally sucks on somebody else. One person is in love with a brand, another person just hates it. It’s just that way. That is why we are so BLESSED to have so many awesome brands to choose from and even more blessed to have this wonderful sit that introduces so many lovely things to us!
Isn’t that just stellar?! :):):)
love the shade!!! I think I don’t mind the super small size, usually those thing last for years, and have to be careful with expiration date, so guess have to see if it’s worth
I don’t like the package..but the pigment is great 🙂
OMG…this looks just like Blondes Gold pigment by MAC…one of my most favorite mac (really any brand) colors! I may just have to order this one since I am just about out of my BG!
