Illamasqua Paranormal Eyeshadow Palette ($46.50 for 0.20 oz.) is supposed to have four waterproof eyeshadows that “[feel] like a cream” but “[delivers] waterproof washes of color with long-lasting hold.” The formula feels like a hybrid between a mousse and cream, and then it somewhat dries down to a powder finish, but I did experience noticeable creasing across all four shades by the eighth hour of wear. They didn’t start smudging the minute water hit them, but if you rub, they do move somewhat. The texture did make it ease to blend these shades across the lid, both with each other and across the skin for an even layer of color. I was able to build to semi-opaque to mostly opaque color coverage, but none of the four shades were totally opaque.

Paranormal is a warm-toned, coral-pink with pink and gold shimmer. It had good color payoff and went on smoothly. MAC Gameela is similar in color but is matte and a powder eyeshadow. Sugarpill Decora is not as coral/warm-toned and is a loose powder. See comparison swatches.

Aura is a copper-shimmered, medium-dark orange. It had good pigmentation and blended out smoothly. MAC Magnetic Attraction is pinker, less orange. MAC Body Conscious is browner. MAC Ablaze has no shimmer and is a powder product. Guerlain Terra Azzurra #3 is slightly pinker and a powder eyeshadow. Make Up For Ever #5 is lighter and matte. See comparison swatches.

Possession is a yellowy green with cool-toned emerald green shimmer. The color payoff was so-so, but it applied evenly overall. It’s an interesting color because the base is warm-toned but the shimmer makes it appear more cool-toned. MAC Swimming is warmer. MAC Wondergrass is rather similar but a powder product. MAC Hajar Karim is darker and matte. MAC Feeling Fresh is cooler-toned. Illamasqua Fledgling is matte, darker, and cooler-toned. OCC Foxfire is not as yellow-toned. Sugarpill Tipsy is more intense. Make Up For Ever #91 is similar but matte.
See comparison swatches.

Trance is a medium-dark purple with cool, pink undertones and a fine silver and purple shimmer. It had so-so pigmentation but applied smoothly and was easy to blend. Urban Decay Omen is a bit cooler-toned, less pink. Sugarpill Hysteric is more metallic and pinker. Inglot #441 is brighter. L’Oreal With a Twist is lighter, more metallic. See comparison swatches.

Those are some beautiful shades! Although they aren’t everyday shades, they would be great for anybody’s collection if they like a pop of color!

Trance is lovely, but the way it sits in the pan is turning me off, looks like it’s gonna fall if you flip the palette. 🙁 Too bad about the quality of these eyeshadows, they’re such a great combination of shades.

Mine arrived with the purple flipped out of the pan and marks every where. I think it tumbled all around the mirror on it’s way here. When it was placed back it looks like the one above, like I didn’t get a full amount of product. Also after just two uses it looks like I’ve used a TON of product.

Wanted to update to say that I did contact Illamasqua and they did respond about that issue. They have worked with the supplier to fix it. That’s great to hear.

Oooohhh, I do love this! I thought I wouldn’t like it, but I really do. Sad the results are not particularly favourable. I seem to do well with Illamasqua palettes, but I do tend to use them with primer and a cream base. Jury is still out on this one for me, but I may succumb…eeep

I got this one during the 1 hour night shopping with 50% off. I was not willing to pay the full price but I was very curious, so it was just the right offer. Once I opened the lid, I have seen that the purple got loose and stuck on the pink (I see your purple is also somehow loose on the photos!), and the pink one was loose from its housing. It was fortunately easy to stick and press them since they have consistency of paste. I was also a bit let down by the pigmentation but I think I can make use them as base or as a pop of color.

I might still get this because even though the green and purple aren’t true to pan, I prefer the swatch colour actually!

Im always drawn to these types of colors but when they are in small palettes like this i never tend to reach for them, its almost as if its too much of an effort to pull out multiple palettes to do a look when i have tons of other options all in one.

Wow based on the swatches, these shadows are gorgeous! They seem to apply SO evenly and smoothly and the pigmentation is perfect! They apply so true to color and are vibrant but aren’t heavy or cakey, which is nice to see with such bright colors. I am tempted to buy the whole palette for that stunning purple!! 😛
