Please help us streamline the comments' section and be more efficient: double-check the post above for more basic information like pricing, availability, and so on to make sure your question wasn't answered already. Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but will typically be removed after errors are fixed (unless a response is needed).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

Nope, I don’t need 24 hour wear in anything, really. I’d rather go for a nice texture/no emphasis of pores/natural finished look (especially with foundations, where this seems to be the area for these 24 hour claims). Usually the trade off for that so called 24 hour wear is how the finish looks (not so great). And, really, how many people NEED 24 hour wear?

No more likely than I would be to purchase something with a 12-hour wear time claim.
When I read “24 hour,” I assume that “24 hour” doesn’t mean “24 hours,” it’s just marketing-speak for “long-wearing.”

The lack of precision isn’t great, but I’m resigned to it: I don’t care enough, I think.

No, but it would have been a selling point in my younger and oilier days. I vaguely remember Revlon’s old Colorstay having some ridiculously long claim (16 hours?) and I wore that for years. These days, everything matte makes me look like those dehydrated apples they used to make kitchen witches from.

Somewhat yes. Not because I want to wear makeup for 24 hours, but because of the expected longevity of the makeup. I don’t like to retouch my makeup and I tend to touch my face a lot; I have runny eyes and a sweaty upper lip. The makeup that promises 24 hours usually will stay put for 8-12 hours (how long I usually wear it).
I mean… we all know that 24 hours claims are just an exaggeration, the point is that they are long lasting. I use hyperboles a lot in my speech, I won’t fault a brand for that… just don’t add filters and put false eyelashes. I can take an artistic exaggeration.

Absolutely not! No-one wears makeup for 24 hours straight anyway, so that claim is ridiculous. And patently untrue too. The product would have to be filled with very unhealthy kind of chemicals to make it last that long, and who wants that on their face, eyes, lips?

Nope, quite the opposite, actually.
24-hr wear on my oily skin is completely unrealistic 😉
If a brand makes unrealistic claims, I’m less likely to trust anything they’re claiming.

I wouldn’t be more likely to buy a product with a 24 + hours claim. I might buy it if I like the product itself, but the wear time isn’t something I care about.
I might add that I have, on occasion, worn makeup for more than 24 hours, when I fall asleep on the couch watching TV and then have to walk the dog immediately after waking up. Generally the eye makeup still looks good, sometimes the lipstick as well whereas most of the face products have vanished. The days when this happens are always means a very thorough cleansing and a moisturizing mask. 🙂
