I tend to prefer more matte blushes, though I do a mix. Since I’ve lightened my hair, I also use more pink blush colors and less orange/brown.
Not really, i still like soft peachy browns, corals satin blushes
Other than throwing in a very vivid Cheeto orange blush into my arena last summer, I still gravitate towards berries/mauves, corals/cooler orange tones, and rosy browns. As I’ve gotten older, I definitely love satins and baked gelée formulas over very shiny or super flat matte finishes. Definitely love a skin-like finish the most!
I’ve been liking brighter colors, and I’ve been wearing shades of orange-leaning corals, oranges, and reds more often. That will no doubt increase with my new hair color.
Application-wise, the last few years I’ve been draping my instead of blending it into my hairline, and I love how that looks.
My blush preferences haven’t changed. I like cool pink and berry/plum type shades and those with a bit of sheen are my faves (the MAC In Extra Dimension blush finish is a perfect example). Browns, corals, orange shades – none of those work for me and brown really just look like dirt on me.
I used to only like shimmery, coral-toned blushes. In recent years, I’ve definitely branched out a bit more in color and finish.
I’m into nude blushes now. I find they go beautifully with any and every eye look.
Agree with you!
Yes, I would say that my cheek colour preferences have changed slightly over the past few years. I’ve moved away from peachy coral tones to more cool toned corals (without the peach factor). This is actually more in line with my skin undertones.
In the past couple of years I have expanded to browns and oranges. Most recently I have taken steps to start using more cool toned colors (I have a neutral undertone so I can go both cool and warm) and at least I find that cooler toned blushes in pink are the easiest to come by. In my twenties, I picked up a cool toned bubble gum Barbie pink blush and it wasn’t flattering on me at all so I have been very cautious with anything of the sort! The Hourglass Radiant rose has worked for me. I also ordered the LE Suqqu summer collection no. 141 blush which looks cooler in the photos, but will see how cool/warm it will appear on my skin when it arrives.
I don’t think so. I still go from NARS Orgasm as the warmest of my blushes to cooler purply and pink tones.
When I next purchase a blush it’ll be from Lethal Cosmetics, either Aster, Cryostasis, Carnation or Pansy. Most likely Cryostasis. I’ve lusted for it since Christine reviewed it.
I’m still very low key when it comes to using blushes. I tend to use just a bronzer that has a slight coral or pinkish hue than a blush. That said, with age and the memory that I’ve seen many older women either not have the proper vision to see that their makeup application is to colorful, pigmented and not blended well, plus my own knowledge that I very much like color, I tend to force myself to apply little blush and more muted colors (pale pink-corals or “nude” pink-taupes). also, since I’m prefer playing up my eyes (likely almost like the very women I referenced- LOL!), I downplay my cheeks and lips.
I wore a lot of nude blushes but a few yrs ago, rediscovered my bright bubblegum pink shades (now so popular) and have been wearing them most. I’ve always preferred a soft matte or satin finish without any glitter or shimmer and that hasn’t changed. If I want shine, I’ll use highlighter.
