Scary to even think about being 35 in 10 years’ time (not that I don’t embrace being more mature, but I haven’t even finish growing up to be a decent adult yet!). Ten years ago all I reached for was a lip balm so it’s safe to say one’s makeup life changes a lot throughout time and trends. I hope to see myself being more comfortable with a capsule collection instead of all current trials that are bound to be a disaster at any given moment and continue with my signature look while still having fun experimenting every now and then.
I think I’ll have to apply less of everything due to changes in skin elasticity and texture. I hope I can still do my 4-eyrshadow eye looks and bronzer and highlight and all that, but it will depend on my skin.
In 10 years, eh? I’ll be 67, nearing 68! And I am fairly sure that just as I am now, I *still* won’t be your average, conventional looking senior citizen and Glam-Ma to my Granddaughters. Might need to tweak formulas or methods, but I’ll still be me.
As an aside: in Arizona, you’re considered a “senior citizen” once you turn 55 y.o.!!! Funny. I don’t feel like a little ol’ lady, LoL! ?
Who knows what make up (if any) I’ll feel like wearing in 10 years. I can say that my routine now compared with 10 years ago (when I was 19) is that I wear far less make up now than then and I’m more into cheek products and less into eye make up now.
I used to dislike lipstick then, but now I like it occasionally. I’ve heard that lipstick looks better on you as you get older (something about your lips sometimes looking less defined as you age) so maybe I’ll be more into lip products in 10 years?
That is so hard to say! No idea!!! 🙂
Probably a lighter base, and most likely less shimmery colors on the eyes as well. Some shimmery eyeshadows can make my eyelids look crepe-y already, and I guess it’s not gonna get better!
I’m 37, nearly 38 so I’l be heading into the “less is more” stage with deep, deep denial. I still struggle with adult acne and cloasma pigmentation on my forehead and cheeks so it feels like a never ending battle for me.
However, I like who I am and I like how I look, so anyone else can kiss my buffed behind.
PS. I have a very dear friend who is a decade younger than me and when she found out, she was like NO WAY! She didn’t believe it because she went to university with my husband (who is 9 years younger than me, so) and I told her I’m happy and fat and that gives you waaaaaaaayyyy less wrinkles. 🙂
I have no idea. Ten years ago I used no makeup at all. Then six years ago I had a severe accident and, during my recovery, it was very difficult for me to take care of myself so I felt untidy. I begun to get interested in makeup. All these colors. The way you can fell put together. Right now, I love makeup in a way I could never imagine. So, who can say what will happened in ten years time?
I think the only thing that is likely to change will be affected by new products/formulations that companies develop – “better” foundations, concealers that conceal and wear even better than the ones available in 2016. Mind you, “new” things like Hourglass ambient light powders changed my makeup routine, as did the advent of foundation and eye shadow primers, neither of which was around even 30 years ago. So who knows what might be “in the works” that will be game changing? Other than that, I’ll be holding onto my shimmery shadows, colourful liners, red lipsticks and the rest til they nail down that coffin lid!
I think you summed it up well with “better.” It applies not only to what we’ll have access to, but also continuously growing and learning what suits us best for color, technique, etc. I got into make-up in my 20s and wore very minimal before that. I wear considerably more by comparison now, but I wear it better and more refined and that’s an ongoing process to me. You also refine colors as your skin changes; lipsticks I used to love and now hate, colors that only work in some seasons or when my hair is lighter or darker or as they refine formulas. For years I always wore whatever the palest foundation was; they didn’t differentiate between porcelain and alabaster (warm vs. cool undertones respectively). When they did though?! Gamechange, but it did have a ripple effect on the other colors that I wore.
It did chance and it will…7 or 9 years ago i didn’t even wear mascara but now i usually do moderate (no baking no drug contouring but..) full face. So when and if i get older it will definately change.. I guess i will be using softer creamier bases, focusing more on lashes less on colors, applying less shimmers and less highlights( i literally live for a good highlight now) etc….
I hope that in 10 years I will have found a concealer that ACTUALLY covers dark circles without looking cakey, because I sure as heck haven’t yet!
I’m in my late 50s and hope that in my late 60s I can wear what I want yet still have the sense not to overdo it to the point of being pathetic. You know what I mean — heavy foundation and garish colors that do not flatter. I hope I concentrate more on skin care and less on makeup.
I don’t know. I’ll be in my mid 40’s so I guess I’ll be doing more moisturizing things and possibly more mattes? I guess it all depends on my skin!
I think adjusting colors and tone as you age happens. I speak from experience. I was mostly a coral girl in my youth, but now I am finding that berry tones seem to perk me up. I never gravitated to those blush or lip colors in the past.
Color correction continues, as does bolstering up the light under the eyes. I think incorporating these refinements are subtle, but make a big difference. Plus, it’s fun.
I’ll be mid-60s (yikes), and all I can do is guess based on how I’ve been trending lately… as I’ve aged I find I wear more makeup — and have more fun with it — but using less strident colors and drama-for-drama sake techniques. I’ve found the color ranges that work for me, and I use more in those ranges. I use more products in general now than I used to: e.g., primers, finishing powders. I actually use less moisturizer on my face but more around my eyes, on lips, and on body. I use better quality products than I used to, but I indulge in fun experimentation more now too. All this said, I worry a lot less than I used to about what people think, and I invest a lot more in what makes me happy, so I could just go all off the rails and wear brilliant reds and glitter all the time and I’ll be just fine with that then.
I see my routine changing, definitely, especially as my skin ages. I certainly don’t have the same routine now as I did 10 years ago, so I don’t expect to keep things exactly the same in another 10 years!
I’m going to reverse-age myself here, But 10 years from now, I’ll be 30.
First off, I hope I’m still applying my SPF60+ EVRYDAY!! If not you all can kick my butt!!!
I hope I never stop being who I am when it comes to makeup, and give into societies expectations of what “older” or more mature women should look like!! I hope I always fight and wear my makeup for ME and no one else!!
Every 10 years your a new person, so yes!!!!
Hopefully I become much faster!
probably more moisturizing foundations and concealers as my skin is getting drier as I age. but I hope to still use my fave colors and learn somehow to work them in. Like green e/s or e/l !:)
I expect to be using more anti ageing products and probably better foundations, as the technology surrounding foundations improves all the time. I still expect to be enjoying my eye shadow palettes for sure, although I probably will use more matte shades. But I will always love my lipsticks.
Probably use less. You know they say Less Is More, but a lot depends on how I age and I’m doing EVERYTHING I can to keep that at bay!!
Good question, but it’s really hard to answer. In ten years, I’ll be 57. I’m assuming I’ll have a lot more wrinkles and sagging than I do now, so I’m guessing I’ll be doing more skincare and probably changing up my foundation. My eyes will probably become more hooded, and I may have to change some of my eyeshadow applications. I fully intend to still be wearing my funky colors and finishes, but I will adapt application to what I think looks good at the time.
It will probably be pretty much the same as it is now – but I’m always buying and trying new lipsticks and blushes!
Ten years ago I was able to wear any makeup and use any skincare with no problem. Now everything breaks me out. My skin is super sensitive! I never imagined that my skin was going to be like this. I have no clue of what it will be like in the future.
I honestly don’t see it changing much except to adjust for any skin concerns. I’m 44 now and wear a metric ton of makeup most days – I think at 54 I’ll still be rolling in glitter, highlighter, rhinestone freckles, glossy lids, black lips and any other random thing I feel like rocking.
in 10 yrs I’ll be 71 yrs old and hopefully long retired – I’m doubting I’ll use as much as I do now on a daily basis – probably more minimal when leaving the house and possibly none if not going out
In 10 years I will be in my late 60’s. I will have hoped that my skincare has ‘paid off’. I will still enhance my look without being garish. Still be willing to try new products – hopefully new and improved. People say that I don’t look my age so maybe that will factor into the equation!
In 10 years I will be 72. Wow, scary. I imagine I will need deeper spackle for my deep wrinkles and hopefully someone will have developed a really good concealer that will cover what I am sure will be larger than life sun spots! I hope I am still comfortable wearing bright eye shadow and far out lip colors. In particular I plan on wearing even more glitter and sparkle.
That is a depressing thought unless I was rich and could afford surgery BEFORE 10 years which I can not I would rather not even go there.
Not sure. I’m 47 yrs old now. If you had told me 10 years ago, I would be wearing full coverage foundation, bold shadows, warmer shades , and gray lipstick, I would be looking at you like you had 3 heads! But the products are much better formulated now than they were 10 years ago, and as I grow older, I feel more confident and bolder, and it’s reflected in my makeup. So who knows what will happen in 10 years?
Who knows? Ten years ago, I was only wearing colorless brow gel and lip balm, now I wear a full face of makeup most days, and love experimenting with crazy colors and finishes. I sincerely hope I’m still experimenting and having a ton of fun with it in ten years!
As far as my base goes, I’m all about effective sun protection and getting compliments on my skin rather than on my makeup (even though I may be wearing several layers of it). For color cosmetics, I’m all about experimenting, and wearing the colors and finishes that I love and think are flattering on me, regardless of whatever ‘rules’ various magazine writers may have come up with about what women should wear at various ages. I don’t see these two underlying principles changing all that much.
I would like to share that aging is not that scary if you take care of your skin, your body and your health in general. From 30 to 50, the main changes to my makeup routine included keen attention to application, using colors that flatter the most, and use of brightening and illuminating products to add a youthful glow. Oh…and false eyelashes. They really counteract the sagging that tends to make eyes look smaller as you age. I also steer away from smoky eye looks because I find they close up the eyes. I want my eyes to look as open and bright as possible because that reads as more youthful.
In 10 years I will be 70, if I’m still alive. I have been wearing moisturizer since I was 12 so my skin has very few wrinkles, although some sagging. I did a lot of sunning without any protection and have some brown spots but that was another era & we didn’t know the things we do now. I would guess that I would still be wearing moisturizer, blush, lipstick or gloss and eyebrow pencil plus a touch of scent.
In 10 years, I’ll be 80. Now, I have snow White hair, blonde brows, light complexion and blonde eyelashes. If I don’t wear makeup, I disappear! Adjusting the color of my foundation has been a challenge as I get older. Less metallic and obvious glitter, more subtle tones, matte or satin/ pearized shadows. More cheek color, brighter lips. Eyebrow color is hard with white hair, so I stick to blonde pencil and eye powder. Mascara is a problem. If I go without it, I look “undone”, but the stuff drives me crazy. Gets in your eyes, makes them red, flakes and is hard to remove, and I’m talking regular, not waterproof.
If I’ m on vacation, depending on where I am, I’m going to skip everything but sunscreen and lip gloss. At 80, I may be doing the same thing I’m doing now. Maybe not. I’m pretty spunky about going against the “norm”.
No idea, really. I hope I’ll be using very little or very sheer foundation, on the asumption that I’ll be able to fix my redness issues over the next 10 years. I never want to lose the dramatic eyes, or occasionally, the dramatic cheek or lip, but I’d be very happy to ditch the full-coverage foundation, and I’m taking steps towards that.
I’m hoping to reverse some of the issues I have given myself in the past 40 years. I’ll be 51 in ten years, life willing. I would love to continue the discovery of radio frequency and microcurrent machines available. They give such a wonderful result, there may be no need for surgery or fillers and the like. Yes, I wouldn’t mind going under the knife if it kept my canvas smooth for the results I want. I LOVE makeup and want to continue to see the new textures and products that are being made so much better. Cant wait for the future!
I find I am already using less eyeshadow ( at age 67). So I expect that trend to continue. I now use just a neutral color over the lid and sometimes a deeper color sparingly in the crease,
I also think I will hold stronger to my own sense of what looks good on me and not be as easily swayed by every trend ( as I was in my younger and more foolish days).
I will be a sad mess since all my recent makeup will be expired and I have a hard time tossing them. I guess I’ll concentrate more on better skin basics such as creams, moisturizers but don’t plan to skip glitter on eyeshadows or anything I really like. Maybe softer colors with a wrinkly dryer skin? Not sure.
I’ll probably use more moisturising products to combat dryness (I’m 53), as well as concealer to hide dark circles etc. I think my makeup routine will be more about correcting imperfections than anything else, although I hope I’ll still have as much fun experimenting with different looks, too!!
I’ve already added lipliner ro control feathering, although I like the more solid wear it provides.
I would like to add a light BB cream or foundation. NO fragrance, I am allergic. I tend to have dry skin. Any suggestions, y’all?
Also adding more matte eyeshadows, and sticking to the decision to keep silicone-based products out of my very curly hair.
I doubt it will change. I like a natural face with a slight beat and I’ve always been that way minus the Mary J. Blige “Not Gon Cry” black lined lips.
That’s the beauty of this – we don’t know what will be available to us in 10 years or what we will love. I don’t always know what makeup I’ll be wearing tomorrow. I don’t do routine so it’s anyone’s guess.
