How do you pack your makeup for traveling by car?

I will usually have a separate bag for makeup/skincare/tools, something medium in size and malleable rather than hard. I usually use pajamas to wrap around fragile powders to give them cushion.

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Just as carefully as if I were flying! And try to get minis or travel sizes of favorite items or make travel size portions from what I own, as many of my essential skincare items are housed in glass bottles/containers. I will use a well packed makeup bag for color cosmetics and wrap PJ’s around it to cushion it against all the bumps in the road that might be ahead.

I have a LUG bag (usually my yoga bag) that I use for all cosmetics, skin care, haircare and for my tools (flat iron, hair dryer, etc.) Within the bag, I’ll use smaller cosmetic bags (or the pockets/sections of the bag) to separate skin care, body care, hair care and cosmetics. Because I almost always travel with minis of skin, hair and body care products, they don’t take up a whole lot of room.

I have a small travel bag for most of it, which has a pocket for eyeliners/loose brushes, an elastic brush holder against one side, and room for mascara, one blush, my eyelash curler, primer, foundation, highlight, and one or two lipsticks. Any eyeshadow palettes kind of just get neatly shoved between my clothes in my regular bag.

Travelling by car I’d use my beloved old vanity case. I used to travel with it before the regulations about liquids came for flights. It has slots for bottles and tubes and enough space for all the makeup I’d need for any length of time. I use zip locks to separate face products so it’s easy to find whatever I want to use.
I love that old case a lot. 🙂
