How do you organize your lip products?

How do you organize your lip products? Share!

I organize by brand, then by formula. As much as I’d love to organize by color, I tend to think of brand, then name more readily.

1) For lipsticks, I use this acrylic lipstick holder that holds 60-70 lipsticks upright (only $25 from http://www.azardisplays.com). This company makes professional cosmetic display racks for beauty stores, their selection is good, and they are very affordable, a lot cheaper than Container Store. http://www.azardisplays.com/productcart/pc/Sixty-Compartment-Lipstick-Tray-W-Tester-p765.htm
2) For tall lip products ( lip crayons, lip liners, lip glosses), I sort them by color into clear, plastic disposable cups made by Solo, sold by Target and grocery stores.
3) For shorter lip products (lip balms and mini-glosses), I use clear, plastic disposable cocktail cups made by Chinet .
4) If you don’t like disposable cups, azar displays also makes organizers that have like 12 cups attached to it for only $28.

Oh, the website shows the lipstick organizer hanging from a peg board on the wall, but I’ve had no problems putting it on my vanity table, with the front edge hanging over. It’s pretty stable and sturdy.

i did have them organised by type: proper lipstick/tinted balm/liquid lipstick/gloss. But I’ve just reorganised by colour because that’s usually my first decision in choosing one.

Right now they’re organized in 2 drawers. One holds sheer textures and one holds opaque. But my collection is growing a bit for that, lol.

I think I want to re-organize by hue, and have a special spot for “don’t need a mirror to touch up” and “seasonally relevant”

The only true organization I have for my lip products has been recent. I bought a couple of lipstick organizers that fit nicely in my Ikea Alex organizing unit drawers. I place them upside down so I can see the color names.

In bins, by brand (which also includes “obvious” parent/sister companies, ie L’Oréal & Lancome). Even with my astronomical stash, I pretty much know where to look when I want a particular sort of color. Glosses are just kept together in a separate bin, with no specific order…

Most of my lipsticks are depotted into little stackable bead jars inside plastic cases. I use these: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Darice-Bead-Storage-Set-Clear/22027054 . I sort by color. I can see what I have easily and can stack them together in whatever combination I want and throw them in my purse. Small round decals or sometimes even the original labels fit on the bottoms for identification.

I keep a credit card sized palette in my purse that I refill with lip products I use a lot or want to use up.

For lipsticks that have really nice packaging, so I don’t want to depot them, I have some clear acrylic holders. I display them by brand, so the packaging matches, and then organize by color.

I have a plastic makeup organizer that hangs on the wall where I keep all my liquid/ tube glosses. I arrange them by brand and color. Tub glosses are in a decorative basket, as I don’t have many. Lip balms have their own makeup bag in a drawer. Lip tars have their own box.

Lipliners and lipcolor pencils are currently in e.l.f. storage cups, but not really organized other than that. I like the tip someone had on here to use clear plastic cups, so I’m probably going to switch to those so I can see my colors better.

I store mine by brand and in alphabetical order my color name, in Muji drawers. However, I evently moved to another city and had to get rid of my storage since it was a hassle to bring along, so I am searching for new storage ideas now 🙂

I usually have 5-7 of them out on the open area for daily use, while the rest of my stash stays in capped boxes at lower level of the shelf. I tend to arrange them by color. (I’m bad at remembering shade names unless it’s a really representative yet not-too-long name, like MAC’s Russian Red). When I arrange them, I put work-friendly shades at the front row and the vampy/eccentric ones in the back row. Usually the order goes: soft/nude pink, coral, orange (front row), mauve/matte red and deep vampy red. Two rows are good enough to my shallow storage in order for the products to be seen.

They lippies I want to use up soon are in a acrylic stand, organized by brand, finish then color. I have less than 20 atm so not much space is occupied by them.

I keep them in an Ikea organizer and more recently I’ve grown out of that so I put the rest of them in a cute bowl. I try to sort them by brand but because I use them so often it gets mixed up alllllllll the time! I really wonder what your entire stash looks like Christine lol

I have glosses in a traincase under my vanity – the first three tiers are glosses and the open area below is housing lashes for now, but is mostly empty.

As far as not-glosses, they are in the bottom right drawer of my vanity, shade-name-side-up and mostly by brand ( then formula, then color within brand). It’s about 16 rows, with separators I made out of paper. Maybe someday I’ll upgrade to plastic!

Like many others, I store them in clear acrylic boxes and by brand. I also keep lipsticks, glosses, and pencils in seperate containers but all in the same drawer so I can easily mix and match. Because I’m not a blogger or collector, I never keep a lipstick beyond two years as I have no need to keep it for color reference or comparisons. So, although I have a lot of lips products, my collection is never so large as to present a problem with organization and storage.

I have most (maybe two dozen?) of them by brand and the brands by shape in two plastic holders I got from Daiso. I have my work colors in a seperate makeup bag that lives in my purse.

My lip products are all heaped into one large drawer of my Alex 9 drawer from Ikea.I do have the lipliners in a little plastic box in the mess. Its awful. I typically 1) spend too much time looking for a specific lippie or 2) grab a couple and pick, lol. Definetly needing to get it cleaned up!

I use big plastic bins, each brand gets its own bin. Except some drug store brand that i only have a few of i group them together. I’m the crazy person that does arrange them alphabetical/numerical. Things that are limited edition get stored in a different way. If it’s a collection like mac i keep the entire collection together usually stored in the mac black shipping box. Many of the holiday sets included a lip color i just keep the entire collection in the original box. I also keep everything in the packaging it stacks and lines up easier it also just looks more organized. drug store limited edition go in a separate bin from the high end. I’m a type A organization freak!

Lip glosses, lip balms and lip crayons are in large plastic trays unless I have a lot of one brand, then their own smaller tray. Lipsticks are by brand in small trays. MAC lipsticks are in 12-gauge 3.5″ mag plastic shotshell boxes that I bought from Cabela’s for $3.99 each – they fit 25 each and I can see the names.

I organize by brand. I make sure the label is face up so I can see the name and color. For MAC, I keep them in their boxes. They are easier to store that way and I group them by color.
