I have an acrylic organizer sitting on top of my vanity area that holds lipsticks upright in three rows of five slots. That’s where I keep my most-used lipsticks. The first row has my favorite Chanel and Dior lipsticks, the second row has Chanel, Dior and MAC, and the third row has MAC and Shiseido. Then there’s a fourth row that doesn’t have slots, where I keep Huda lipsticks—they’re too wide to fit in the slots anyway. The rest of my lipsticks are in the drawer underneath them (part of the same unit). And then I have a box where I keep the ones I rarely or never use, most of which I really should declutter. Someday…

Many if not most of my lipsticks are in one of those tall lucite spinning lipstick towers, many of my others are in two slim plastic drawer dividers in my my cheek products drawer, a bunch are next to my makeup work space (which needs some serious reorganizing), and a handful are in the smallish lipstick and lipgloss areas of a lucite makeup organizer that I wish was a bit taller (it’s where I keep all of my special MAC lipsticks).

Oooo, a tall spinning lipstick tower! Good idea! I don’t have the room for it, but I’d welcome one when we move into a home or an apartment where I’ll give more thought to my “vanity” space. 😉

I use makeup bags in which I have sorted the lipsticks by color in each bag: Reds, Berries, Beige/Nude, Light Pink, Bright Pink, Brown. And I have tinted lip balms in a separate bag. And lip glosses in a basket. It’s been a good system!

Oh my word – my lipsticks are not organised AT ALL, which is a jolly nuisance when I am looking for a particular one. At the moment they all live in one bag and I really must sort this out. It’s sometimes hard to find the one I want, especially with the Shiseido Visionary Gel lipsticks I have because the casing is all the same and the colour is written in teeny tiny letters at the top, which I cannot read without my glasses on. So too are CP’s, when they don’t have a coloured marker on the lid to show which colour it is.

I don’t like it when I can’t easily distinguish the lipstick color through either the case or the sticker on the bottom of the lipstick, so I bought narrow washi tape rolls in varying hues of red, pink, tan and lavender. I wrap each of my “mystery lipstick” casings with a band of washi tape that approximates the shade of the lipstick. It isn’t a perfect solution, and it messes with the aesthetics of some lovely lipstick tubes, but it works for me. 😉

Whoa! Some serious organization there Christine! (Though makes sense do to your work here, at least.). I have mine scattered in different makeup areas:
I have an acrylic shelving area where they are organized by tube shape (usually brand), color and type (texture).
I have a wooden drawer that fit into a corner near my sink in the bathroom where they organized by those I use more, brand and where I could fit them (Ha!).
And last, I have older ones (colors that I don’t wear as much, but probably could) that I keep a check on for usability that are organized by color in a metallic toolbox used as a makeup kit.

@Genevieve
I watched a makeup organization video where they made lipstick swatches on paper, hole punched each and taped the coloured circles on the lipstick exterior. A possible solution for you?

I have two acrylic spinning towers, one with most of my MAC lipsticks, sorted from red to pink to berry to purple to generally odd colours that I like and think are fun.
The other tower holds the lipsticks from various brands, but I have quite a few by any of the brands, UD are stored there as well as Maybelline and Dior. I have some on top of my vanity, in an acrylic rather small organizer, Charlotte Tibury’s and Lisa Eldridge’s lipsticks are there. The rest are standing up in a box, I don’t use them as often, but make sure I go through them.
My Guerlaine Rouge G, I only have two are looking pretty on top of the vanity.
What can I say, I love lipsticks, and I do have a very hard time decluttering unless something’s turned bad. A thing that seems to be happening to some of my old discontinued MAC lipsticks now, Up the Amp smells strange for example.
Oh, glosses are stored in two jars in a drawer, I don’t use glosses that much.
