How do you organize your cheek/face products?
I have some of my all-time favorite shades of blush, bronzer, and highlighter pulled out and kept in my vanity, which is loosely organized by brand (as they’ll have similar packaging, so they tend to fit better together). The rest are stored in the brand’s respective drawers, and those are usually separated/organized by the formula and alphabetized if there are more than a dozen. I keep foundations on a shelf that are my shade but not currently using with other foundations in rotation in my vanity drawer.
I too tend to have my face favs stashed in my vanity pull-out drawer: concealer, foundation and cc, setting powder/finishing powders, contour, bronzer, blush, highlighter. I have them organized from Left to Right in my drawer in order of application. They are all sitting immediately available for a quick makeup. I always put them back in their respective spots in the drawer. Remaining products, those I do not use regularly, are stored organized by drawer in my Ikea Alex. I am proud to say it is quite empty.
I have an acrylic organizer with drawers. One drawer is for blush, another for highlighter. I don’t have so many cheek products that they need to be organized beyond that. Also, I have three CP Blush Stix that fit perfectly in a Oui Yogurt jar that (when cleaned up they make great little makeup jars).
I depotted my NARS cheek palettes, placing them in one Z-palette in color order. Then I have a MUJI acrylic drawer with singles.
My setup is as follows: I have a small basket for my workhorse eyeshadow palettes (Dose of Colors Friendcation, the blue/green and yellow/orange Jaclyn Hill Morphe palettes, and Saucebox Etude) and my complexion items (Double Wear, Missha Perfect BB, Milk Hydro Grip, MAC Goldlite Strobe, TF Born This Way concealer and 2 rando setting sprays) and one bronzer, highlighter and Milani Luminoso blush. I keep my other daily items in a little makeup bag and I have a 2 compartment brush cup for pencil eyeliners and various blushes. I’ve been desperately trying to pare down to just these containers. I’m tired of having literal bins full of makeup!
I have a little acrylic caddy with four drawers from the Container Store. Pretty much everything is in there in an organizational system that makes sense to me. My collection is not so large that it needs alphabetizing or anything like that – I have eight blushes, one bronzer, and eleven highlighters. (Most of those are in a single palette so it’s not QUITE as crazy as it sounds, even though I absolutely do not need eleven highlighters and am now banned from buying more for life!)
I get you on the highlighters. I have about 14 (including six in one palette), but there are only two that I ever use, which is not very often. I am done buying them.
They’re just so SHINY, it’s really tempting! But I honestly do not need anymore, probably ever.
They keep coming out with more with glowing reviews about how they are the best ever and they are different than all the rest! I will never hit pan on the ones I have now!
Most are in 2 narrow plastic drawer organizers on top of my vanity, as opposed to being properly stored in their OG Sterlite drawer. Very overstuffed, at that! Some cheek products are still in their designated drawer, though. Face palettes are in a stack in back of my makeup mirror.
I pretty much use the same storage for face products as I do for small palette eye shadows. It is the whole cut the box in half thing. I have an antique music cabinet that has slightly larger drawers than most music cabinets have and I store my blushes, bronzers and highlights divided by brand. I have a couple of larger palette such as the Becca Chrissy Teigen, Benefit, etc that I store standing up in the same drawer where I store my larger e/s palettes. Currently my foundations are stored standing up in a decorative box that I picked up at Michael’s. I say currently as I am going to do a de-clutter of foundations. I have a number of them that I either don’t love the formula anymore, the shade isn’t a great match or I just don’t reach for them. I don’t see the point in keeping them since I will never use them. The relatively new ones I will donate but many of the older ones I will just trash. I don’t have anyone in my immediate family with the same fair skin tone.
I have a bookcase where two shelves are devoted to my makeup. One shelf is for face & skincare products, while the other is for eyeshadow palettes & eye products. For the products I’m not currently using I store them in a plastic filing cabinet. I try to rotate products so I can get the most out of my collection.
I’m currently in need of an overhaul as I have acquired bits and bobs which don’t fit neatly in my storage system. I have some decorative jars which hold face brushes, eyeliners, and liquid face products (concealer/mascara etc) an acrylic lipstick holder which is now overflowing (lots of unused shades, need that overhaul!), a card/letter holder with my go-to palettes, and two drawers with shallow organisers in them, sorted by type – blush/bronzer/powder highlight, single eyeshadows, lipgloss, etc. I want to de-pot my BareMinerals eyeshadows so I use them more, and I need to do a general (and very brutal) cull – there are lots of things I haven’t used in YEARS and I need to accept that I’m not going to!
All my staples – blush, setting powder, with my everyday foundation, eye brow pencil and mascara are all in my staples bag. That’s it. I only use one blush, primer, setting powder etc at a time.
All my blushes fit into a plastic bin on a shelf in a cabinet in my hallway beside my bathroom.
Everything is first separated by type: powder blush, bronzer, highlighter. Powder blush get one (alex) drawer, organized by brand. Powdered and cream/liquid highlighters are in the same drawer but organized apart. Powered highlighters are organized by shades, roughly-champagne, pinkish and golden. All highlighters share a drawer with bronzers. No organization there as I don’t own enough. My cream and liquid blushes share another drawer with my concealers and color contractors. No reason for that except it is where they fit. Foundations share a drawer with powders. I’ve tried to organize them by coverage level but that part never really works because of container size and my habit of dropping plastic tubes back in any old way. Powders are separated into setting and finishing, although there is overlap. Face palettes are in another drawer. Hourglass all together, the rest just how they fit. Finally, my Guerlain Meteorites live on my vanity top.
My NARS highlighting blush-the apparently discontinued Satellite of Love-is in the NARS shipping box. Disney x ColourPop Designer A Smile and a Song highlighter is in a purple velvet drawstring pouch with my other Disney x ColourPop Designer products. My other cheek/face products are in my Star Wars box-some directly in the box (Revlon blushes, Fenty foundation, Fenty concealer, Fenty Match Stick), others in Magenta (Maybelline concealer, L’Oreal blush, CoverGirl powder), Columbia (Tarte blushes), and Frank (Becca Light Chaser highlighters) (Magenta, Columbia, and Frank are some of my zippered pouches-see my first comment on the 7-14-19 lip products organization post for a further explanation).
I don’t have that much product, so all my powder product are in a Z-palette. The only thing that I keep in my acrylic divider (in my drawer) is my primer, liquid highligther and the loose powder.
Wow. My collection is just too big. Reading your responses made me realize I’m ridiculous. ??♀️ I keep one of the organizers that you can spin on my vanity for daily/in a rush makeup and have a separate acrylic container next to it with my most used blushes, highlights and bronzers. Thennn I have a knockoff Alex 5 drawer with a drawer dedicated to the rest. I have some dollar store dividers to section them off.
Doh! I forgot cream’s. Those are in something TJ Maxx labeled a stationary divider. My chubby Nudestix are in there too.
SEE! All that just for blush, bronzer and highlighters. I’m ridiculous!!
