It’s so annoying when they do this. They know the people who missed out on this last year likely ran out and grabbed this year’s first offering (like me!) and then they release this one again. I’m pretty happy with the one I already purchased but it would be nice to have had the option to choose between them. And I’m not really understanding why they’re calling them β€œGhost” editions unless you’re taking about the Ghost of Christmases past. Which I suppose would be appropriate for this particular palette!

Would this be too dark on my NW10 skintone? This is online only so it’s hard for me to judge. Also, I bought the Ghost blush palette and it’s too glittery for me so I’m worried this will be the same. Any info will be very helpful!!

Just my opinion (NC25 skin tone) – I feel that the finishing powders in Unlocked are too dark for our complexions. The other Ambient Lighting palette is probably a better fit. I bought Ambient 4 last year and actually used them both up.

Thank you!! I’m glad the regular Ghost palette is available for me to see in store so I’ll check it out. I just don’t want more glitter bombs like the Ghost blush palette is on me. I think those with light/medium and deeper skintones would like the blush palette more but on my very fair skin, the gold glitter is very noticeable. Thanks again!!

Oh, thanks for the info re: the Ghost blush palette! I’m a bit darker than you, but barely (NC15 seems a smidge dark; maybe 13?)… And I find very shimmery cheek products just don’t suit me… Thought the blushes would be ideal, more glowy. But I noticed two are regular Ambient Lighting Blushes, and the other two are Ambient Strobe – strobe being their highlight… But if they’re very shimmery, that’s *not* cute on me, and you’ve just saved me $60CAD ?? (with discount) OR an annoying return trip! Thanks!!

I’ve been lusting after their Mood Exposure blush forever, it seems. Just cannot pull the trigger on a full sized @ $52CAD, but their “minis” are ridiculously pricey, not even half the cost for less than a quarter of the amount. Even with discount, it’s a LOT for one blush… Excuse me ranting!

Oh! Does the shimmer dissipate if you buff it into the skin with your brush a bit?

I have all their regular individual blushes and Mood Exposure is the least shimmery, I’d say natural/ matte. However on my NC15 skin it’s a lot like Nars’ Sin, there’s a ruddy mauve colorβ€”it’s not cool toned pink/ purpley. The blush palette only has one existing shade and it’s the most shimmery, the Brilliant nude shade, and the rest didn’t strike me as being too shimmery at all (but I have all their regular of course so I like them).

Thank you so much, Ashley! That’s really helpful!

I was able to swatch a regular Mood Exposure in store but it was a while ago… I thought I recalled that it didn’t seem very shimmery, maybe demi-satin at most? And I was surprised that it wasn’t as plummy as suggested… It’s not easy for me to get to a store to try it out, and oh, I’m loathe to return things. Lol.

The Brilliant Nude is another I loved the photos of, but I vaguely recall it being different than I’d expected when swatched?

I actually thought I’d get the face palette, but with the two regular powders that I have in the permanent trio palette, it seems the Ghost blush quad is more sensible for me.

Um, sorry for making my decision “aloud”, but thanks again for your feedback! So helpful to hear from someone with the same skin tone – or awfully close!

Thanks again for your time!

I got the Ghost Blush palette and don’t find it shimmery. Certainly no glitter. I’d say it’s luminous, like most of their regular blushes.

The strobe blushes left noticeable gold glitter all over my cheeks no matter how much I blended. I have a cool undertone so gold glitter may be more noticeable on me than you as I know the NC range has a yellow undertone. That being said, you’re about 1.5, maybe 2 shades darker than me and you’ll probably be able to see the glitter as well. I bought this palette because every HG blush review I’ve seen has described them as subtle and impossible to overdo but the 3 are too dark and/or bright for me and the one shade I could have used, Brilliant Nude, is in the glittery Strobe formula. This has taught me it’s better to risk products selling out and wait until they come in store so I can see them in person rather than buying something I’ve never tried before sight unseen.

I have the one from last year and love it!! I just took it on a trip and despite having other face products I ended up just using this palette. That’s rare for me to stick to one makeup palette since I own so many. Wish HourGlass would continue to make blushes and powders that us deeper complexed people can wear.

I think the price of these palettes are absolutely outrageous. That said, I have to admit that when I’m travelling, I always reach for my Ambient edit for that full on soft professional look under harsh lights. It’s got the pearl no glitter. As much as I hate their price points, I do really enjoy hourglass products.

Are these the same shades as the Unlocked from last year? I have the 2018 edition and have panned the two ALP, close to panning the nude blush and highlighter, and I just ordered this one this morning.

If so, lucky me as I apparently love the shades (NC25 ish in winter, NC30 in summer) but I was hoping to try some new shades. Either way, I know I’m going to be happy!

Christine Avatar

I don’t physically have the palette, so I can’t tell you if they are exactly the same or not, but it is intended as a re-release, so the shades are the same by name and intention etc. – they are listed above and the post above says this as well.

Is it already sold out when I get a message that says “We do not currently vary the product you requested.” if I click on it? Do frustrating!!!

I purchased this last year and it’s been my go to on every vacation, and I’ve loved it to pieces. I’ve been using it the last two months while staying at my Mom’s and have panned the Soft Light Powder, that doesn’t happen very often with me. I will keep using the rest of the palette because it’s subtle, sophisticated and I love Hourglass. The only thing is, it will bring back memories of losing my Mom πŸ™
