Hourglass Sculpture Collection is here for the holiday season! It includes two Ambient Lighting Edit; one is a quad, and the other is a six-pan palette (which is consistent with past Edit releases). As a note, if you’re someone who has purchased a few palettes in the past, you may want to check yours for overlap from past releases. There is also a Confession Lipstick duo, which features two full-sized lipsticks with one holder.

Sometimes I see brands receive feedback in the same vein over and over again, and the longer they ignore it, the harder it is to give them the benefit of the doubt, which has been the case for Hourglass with their lack of options for deeper skin tones. This year, with the Ambient Lighting Edit Quad, it puzzles me that they didn’t release two or three iterations–you know, one for light, medium, and deep skin tones.

I agree they need some deeper colors. Also, I feel like their continual addition of same-ole shades (reminiscent of NARS Orgasm in every palette) should require them to refer to their holiday collection as “Beating a Dead Horse” collection.

I love a lot of hourglass’ products but at this point their choice not to be inclusive comes across as purposeful. The 6 pan is almost a dupe of last year’s ghost palette, just with a lighter bronzer!

Because I missed out on the Unlocked Edit both years in a row, and the quad contains four of those shades, I’m planning on getting that.

As for the 6-pan; yeah, why haven’t they finally given us at *least* a deep version? This one above actually works well on medium and med-tan complexions going by various YT’er reviews of it. But no deeper than around an NC42-44. This is 2020 y’all! Hourglass needs to wake up and get with it.

When a brand tells me that they don’t want my money, I beleive them.
Perhaps we need to stop beating the poor deceased horse.

Yes to light, medium, and dark versions. I’m disappointed every year because I love these products but I can’t use all of the shades in the palette. I’d love an empty palette with all of the powders available to choose your own options.

It’s always like this with blush/face palettes. Who are they for? They’re made with a little bit of everything—some light, some medium, some dark—which means they don’t work for anyone. I’m very fair skinned, both of these palettes have shades that are too dark for me and I’m not going to buy one unless I can use all the products. And I’m aware that there are always complaints that these palettes are too light for people with darker skin. I guess they work for people with medium skin tone??

i’m fair as well, and every year there are shades that are too dark for me. Considering how highly anticipated these palettes are, Hourglass should make at least three variations.

Every year since Hourglass started the Holiday 6 pan releases, I have purchased it for my daughter. This might be the first year that I skip it. I would like to have a broader variety of shades from one year to the next and as mentioned, more inclusive shade ranges. I personally like both shades of the lipstick. The one lighter shade is a little out of my comfort zone and the berry shade is totally in my preferred shade range. I haven’t tried this formula, although I have purchased for my daughter so I will have to ask her if she liked the formula.

I was definitely excited about the quad! Totally grabbing that. The 6 pan is very meh haha. And has overlap but the shades that are new don’t really interest me either

Out of all the years they have made these holiday palettes, not once has there ever been one that would compliment my deeper skin color. I thought this would be the year, since many companies have been trying to be more inclusive and show more POC. I guess they missed the mark 😕

Yes, I agree with you – the brand definitely does not cater for those with deeper skin tones at all. They are more content with releasing the same sorts of shades year in and year out. Not only are they missing the mark, but they are also just not catering to a wider customer base and being inclusive.

I like a couple of individual shades out of these blush palettes, but most of the shades really would not work on me. The lipsticks are beautiful shades and I think At Dawn is more appealing to me.

I 100% agree Hourglass should have included some colour way options. I mean – come on! How hard is it? This year’s palettes are beautiful as always but an easy pass for me as I have the Unlocked 6 pan from a couple of year’s back, as well as the Ambient #4 edit (6 pan) and the Ghost blush quad from last year. I love and use them all and they do wonderful things for my light-medium complexion.

It may be a dead horse yes, but it is a beautiful dead horse for those who have not purchased it and it works for them. I love HG but I feel that I have one palette and that is enough. I am very fair, the darker bronzers blend well on my skin as they are buildable and suit my skin tone nicely. I would hope at some point they will be more inclusive with their shades that part really baffles me.

I don’t have any Hourglass Powders and I’ve never been able to afford it until now! So I am very tempted to pick this up. I suppose thats the reason they essentially make the same product every year right? For a more casual make up consumer rather than collectors who want to purchase it every year? Anyway it doesn’t explain why they have such a shameful shade range.

I’m sorry everyone I know the palette is disappointing and they should offer choices that would suit us all. Let me just talk about how beautiful their lipstick duo is!! I own way to many lipsticks but if I didn’t I would totally consider these colors.

What if you created some petition/forum/vote post on here that collected a tally of the readers views on Hourglass. Being 2020, and the lack of inclusivity/change in their regularly highly anticipated collection, how that comes across to the consumers and what would have liked to have been/be seen. Then emailing the collected results to Hourglass.

Hourglass has been receiving feedback like this for years, and they get plenty of it on their social channels – they are well-aware of their lack of inclusivity, IMO.

Truthfully at this point I think hourglass is subtly racist. They have received more then enough feedback over the years and some people have literally begged them. This year when all companies tried their best to be inclusive, we still see nothing from hourglass. But then why would they change? Generally overall their “preferred” customers don’t care either, and their palette do sell out. So why should they bother with the pigmented folks if in the end they are making money ! I had considered boycotting them last year but after this year, I don’t want anything to do with this racist company!
