One year I hope they bring back a palette with the ambient blushes only as a Christmas edit. Love those! I don’t like how Ambient Lighting powders look on me. I ended up giving away an ambient lighting palette to a friend.
I still have the one with the three blushes, and it is so fantastic. One of the best makeup gifts I have ever received, and I have gotten a lot. I wish they’d do one of those again too, and maybe update the shade range a little bit? I got the 4-pan blush palette from last year, and it is nice, but not nearly as awesome as the original 3-pan one.
Me too! I’ve hit pan on two of the blushes from that palette, and will look next to their mini size blushes — but I do love having a variety of them in one place and going between them for a look, plus the nice value with the bigger size! They’re so subtle on me that I would happily pick up a new blush palette if it had any of the colors I don’t have yet.
It would appear that Hourglass finally received the memo about giving us some deeper skin options for their blushes, eh? I really love the look of the Edit Palette this year!
I might be totally in for this. It looks like it might be good for people with darker skin tones.
Do you think? I think the promo pics had it looking darker and the one w Rosie holding it up makes it look lighter..
I haven’t seen the images of Rosie holding it, maybe the promo photos are fooling me. It wouldn’t be the first time. I thought the Ghost Edit palette was going to be darker than it was due to the promo photos.
Looks like Christine updated this page with the pics that have Rosie holding it up. Not gonna lie I even thought the blush in the quad with the repeats from the previous unlocked palette looked so dark I couldn’t guess it was the same blush… but maybe I’m just tripping, you judge
I agree with this. I would guess it will be more similar to the coloring of the palette RHW holds than the promo pics.
My hunch too…
I wonder if these are the typical “postage stamp sized” pans that Hourglass has put in their Holiday palettes for years (I recall you and others saying they were so small it was a challenge to get a blush or cheek-type brush into the pans).
Looking at the palettes next to the lipstick components, I’m guessing these are the typical mini pans from the past iterations…
I can already see the fingerprints all over those shiny exteriors.
This comment ??? so true.
I might pick one of these up, but would love to hear more detail about the shades included.
I keep noticing mentions that they sell out each year. Do they usually last until a Sephora sale or do these disappear super quick?
Last year was the first time I purchased the Hourglass holiday edit palette. I’d also heard they sell out so I did something I never do – I purchased on launch day and, gasp, paid full price. As it turns out, that was totally unnecessary. It was still available long after the holidays. In fact, I think they might STILL be available at certain retailers. More importantly, since it released last year, I’ve seen every single product from the 2019 holiday collection on major sale several times across several retailers during 2020. So there’s that. Granted, it might’ve been an anomaly (as I recall many people didn’t love last year’s design, shades, etc). I can’t say if that has happened with past Hourglass holiday collections. However, I think it’s worth noting. Personally, I’m going to take my chances this year & wait to see if I can get it on sale (I’m loving this years quad palette?). Of course, I can only speak for myself ?
Previous years it was sold out fast, but last year’s collection was available on sale – I also bought it for a full price, because I thought it will sell out fast as usual. I wonder how it will be this year, but I’m gonna risk and wait for the sale 😀
Thanks, Winny and Joanna. I think that I am going to hang tight and risk it, as well. Crossing fingers that we all get to pick up what we want at a sale price 🙂
Hi just curious about what you mean by sale? Do the products actually go on sale or do you mean using a percentage or dollar amount off like at Sephora?
Every year I lust after the Hourglass Ambient face palettes but half of the colors are too light. Love the formula so I’m excited for these palettes. This looks promising for my med-deep complexion!
I know these 6-pan palettes have gotten a bit of flack in the past (particularly re the size of each pan), but I really love mine. I bought a second one after hitting pans on my first. I find them so versatile. If I’m travelling, I can get away with bringing just a power foundation, mascara, and my Hourglass palette. I use the bronzer for my crease, the strobe powder for my lids. For me, being light – fair (depending on the season) the Dim light powder is the best bronzer I’ve ever found. I use a MUFE blush brush, my Wayne Goss black powder brush (from his first collection) or a MUFE stippling brush (purchased as part of a holiday set a few years ago) to apply, and the size of the pans isn’t really a problem. And the convenience factor/look of the products on the skin outweighs the steep the price.
I have a couple of these palettes from years past…not needing these. I may have been tempted with the darker colors but find my first blush craving coming from Melt.
That quad could be an eyeshadow quad with the shades it contains and be a beautiful one at that.
I think these will be really interesting to see how similar they are to past iterations and how different.
To be honest I don’t quite get the idea of the 4 pan palette with very different face powders. It’d would work for the make up artists, sure, but the other people would just use 2 shades tops, as the rest would be too light or dark. I’d rather see 3 different versions of the 6 pan palette with blushes and bronzer – one fair/light, one medium/tan (is there a better word as tan is different for everyone) and one deep/dark.
To me, the quad this looks suspiciously like the Ambient Lighting Ghost Unlocked palette, but with the bronzer shades taken out (you can never tell for sure with the lighting they use). I hope that they’re deeper this time around so more people can have a chance at them.
I believe they are repeats from the previous unlocked palette, so you’re right. They eliminated the lighter blush and one of the finishing powders, I think one of the posters above mentioned the shades in the quad.
If you own the Ghost unlocked, four of the shades are in this quad palette! I think it’s so shady to put out a palette with shades that most of us bought in last years palette, and they are promoting them as if they are new. Makes me so angry.
How can the new Ambient Light palette already be out of stock if it was just launched today? I’m on the Wait List. Does Hourglass automatically contact me when the product is in stock? Also, when/where might these products go on sale? Clearly, this IS my “first rodeo!” Thanks.
It’s likely pre-loaded but not up for official sale is my only guess.
Actually I saw it was on stock around 4/5ish AM eastern, but then around 9 AM it was no longer showing in stock. So I signed up for waitlist and then it became back in stock around 10ish I think. I think they may have intended to launch it in morning not at the 12 AM mark (that too pacific time).. I’m tempted to get.. I also want the metallic strobe light palette haha but still deliberating. (No idea how fast it’ll sell out tho tbh)
Hourglass is vieing for the red ribbon in the online sell-out fiasco. The blue ribbon is in Pat’s trophy case.
Hg makes such gorgeous makeup. Can’t wait. ?
I already have the Unlocked palette as well as a full-size blush and bronzer from them so this will be a pass from me. It’s difficult for me to use up the powders. It certainly looks gorgeous though and will be perfect for those who have never tried the brand or the powders before.
I was really hoping they would do the same thing they did last year and bring out a blush quad bc I don’t use face powder and that bronzer might be too dark for my particular preferences(I’m not super pale but I tend to gravitate for v light bronzers anyway).
Oh well, next year.
I’m soooo glad they brought back the shiny metal packaging! The plastic packaging of years past reminded me of tupperware containers, and the white marble one looked like bathroom tiles.
The Tupperware comparison is fantastic!
I have picked up the six pan and the four pan holiday palette’s every year for my daughter and occasionally for myself. This one looks like it would be a better fit for my daughter as she has a medium complexion. In the past she has been able to make them work and all the blushes have been good for her. I think this is a nice option for more medium skin tones. I just need to wait for reviews.
I love Hourglass products, I am still using my Unlocked Palette. The mini looks like it would be good for darker skins which would be nice for a change. If I needed this I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase.
I purchased the 6 pan today. I love love love dim light. My love is so strong I’ve panned it twice. I’ve also panned diffused light. I’ve owned the ambient lighting palette for 5 years and it’s almost completely panned. I own several finishing powders, Guerlain Meteroites, Becca blurring, Sisley loose powder. I use all, but, if I could only have one it would be dim light.
I am a big fan of anything Hourglass. However, that model in the ad is retouched beyond being ridiculous and there is nothing new in this launch. Kind of disappointing. Most of the hourglass blushes lean warm, how about a cool toned blush for something new Hourglass?
I’m not much (at all, actually) for bronzer or highlighter so I’ll pass on the palettes.
Their confession lipsticks, however, I adore and have always found too expensive (bought “Idol” but only as a refill, I don’t own the case). If they swatch well, I will grab them, it’s basically 2 for the price of one! 🙂
