I prefer non-sticky lip gloss, so I don’t know what i would consider the “worst”, but I would have to go with WetNWild. While they feel nice, I could never seem to get the color to not look “patchy”. It’s been many years since I tried it, so maybe it’s changed, like their eyeshadows. I had friends, though, that the gloss worked for, but it was awful on me.
I think that’s a hard one! I’m not really a lipgloss person… I feel like if they aren’t slightly sticky that seem to come right off or smear all over my face! I notice that a lot with Maybelline lipglosses!
Shiseido The Makeup Lip Gloss – very soft and non-sticky, BUT the color disappears in 10 min or less. >:
Dior addict lipgloss. I love diors lipsticks and the packaging and colours of the lipglosses are beautiful but it only lasts 20-30 min on my lips 🙁
I’ve been meaning to try these out. The colors always look so pretty, but I’m definitely not up for them only lasting 20-30 minutes!
That’s a tough one because usually stickiness is the main reason I don’t like a gloss. I’d have to say Covergirl Wetslicks because most of the shades are horribly frosted and sometimes gritty. They also don’t have any lasting power to speak of.
The Covergirl Wetslicks Amaze-mint lipgosses. They’re horrible, greasy, last on the lips for like 15 minutes or less. Plus, they’re too sheer, and the smell/taste is sweet mint which gives me a headache and makes me nauseous. Blech!
I feel like a lot of Covergirl lipglosses are like this!
Funny, the one and only lip product I could wear from covergirl was their Wetslicks Amaze-mint lipgosses. It would last forever on my lips and it smelt so nice (mint obviously) and had such a nice natural colour and sheen. But they don’t make the Amaze-mint line any more or I cant find them and the other Wetslicks suck because they are stinky.
I don’t know the worst because I stick with lipglosses that I bought that I know I love (like Alba Organics Terragloss, Sue Devitt lip enhancing gloss and Bobbi Brown lipgloss(of which I only own Tangerine and a free Crystal mini which is amazing…)
I do know that taste and smell matter more than stickiness to me–I hated the smell of Revlon Superlustrous gloss as much as I loved the colors and look. Maybelline Color Sensational lipsticks don’t bother me but the gloss is like terrible diet candies. When I sniffed a YSL lipgloss in Sephora the smell was a wretchedly strong castor oil smell–I would rather have tasteless/scentless petroleum oil on my lips than funky castor oil. I really dislike the fake melon smell of ELF essentials glosses, but I have gotten used to them because they last long and really make the lips pop–I have a few colors and since I have them I try to force myself to use them, lol! Same deal as when I use my Milani lipsticks–I hate the smell, but at least it’s not as bad as L’Oreal lipsticks smell, and the colors are just stunning….
The lipgloss applicators that are the worst, IMO are the squeeze tubes with the angled ends (like Bath and Body Works C.O. Bigelow Mentha-lip Shine and the flavored ones). While the product itself might be fine, these are always tricky to apply and become even worse if they have been in your purse or beach bag in the summer heat as they become very liquid-y! I really love lipgloss and can’t think of a particular one that is non-sticky that I don’t like…that’s my usual complaint.
Lippy by Butter London
Nars- they smell awful!!
Sinful colors and klean color
Cover Girl. They last like 5 min. on!
NYX couldn’t take the taste/smell
Nars! They smell so bad and taste rancid after a few weeks
NARS!
Never had a Nars, now I know never to buy them. Thanks to all for the warning!
NARS
YSL because they stink like a mofo.
NYX is the first and only lip product I’ve ever tried where I legitimately could not handle the scent. It’s kind of a weird synthetic banana/candy smell, which is one that has always bothered me. I have it sitting in my one makeup bin in the hopes that the scent will dissipiate since I really love the color, but if it doesn’t, I’m going to have to give it away. 🙁
I usually stick with glosses I know I like, so I’m not that familiar, but I’m finding myself really disappointed with the two Revlon glosses I bought last week. They’re a pain to apply, for some reason, and I get the *worst* chemical smell from them, enough that the last time I put one on I had to scrub it off my lips. I’m not sure I’ll be able to wear them anymore.
@blueraccoon yes, agreed! Smell of those is so gross!
I’m curious when was the last time some people tried NARS gloss, because I do remember them having an off smell years ago but nothing in the past couple of years has had that smell! It’s not my favorite gloss or anything, and I definitely remember it having a plastic-y scent and then all of a sudden, it seemed to be gone from their newer releases. Just wondering if the permanent range still has the problem!
I think that may be the case. I had the orgasm gloss and it smelt okay, not as rancid as my other shades (which were permanent)
