I really don’t like MAC’s suntints – I know my friends don’t have this problem, but to me they are too bitter in taste… The SPF lingers on the lips and after a few minutes I just have to eat of drink something, to get rid of that nasty taste…

Hawaian Tropic: tastes awful, smells like you live inside a coconut, and leaves your lips whitish. I hated it! Now I get lip sunscreen sticks at sports stores, you can find very good and fairly priced ones there.

I know this is going to contradict a lot of people’s experiences, but Jack Black lip balms absolutely trash my lips. I initially thought it was because of the sunscreen since I may or may not have a chemical sunscreen sensitivity issue, but I tried the Fresh Sugar lip balms. They didn’t dry my lips out at all. Who knows!

@Monika Aww…that’s too bad. This was a miracle product for me; it took me from flaky lips (despite applying nothing but balm all day long), to proud wearer of matte lipstick (I LOVE my Ruby Woo!). Your experience truly goes to show that there are NO universal products. Skincare and makeup are ultimately YMMV (your mileage may vary). I hope you find something that works just as well for you!

@ Chantal, I totally agree. The Jack Black is my miracle product too. It’s the ONLY thing that makes my lips normal! And @ Monika, I’m the exact opposite. I would have to say that the Fresh Sugar lip balms are my worst lip balm ever. Despite their beautiful packaging and smell, they sat on top of my lips, were really waxy and never absorbed. For over $20.00 a tube, that is unacceptable for me 🙁

@adamj2004  I’ve never bought the Fresh lip balms, I’ve just used the mini lip duos you get from Sephora on your birthday. They make my lips feel super smooth and hydrated.

Me too! My lips started flaking within the hour, and cracked later that day! And I also like the Fresh lip balms too.. but They wouldn’t be my favorite all time lip balms.

Burt’s Bees, I think it’s called “Lifeguard Rescue” or something like that. It makes your lips white and cruddy looking.

Although I am not sure if it has spf but Burts Bees lip balm (with pomegranate) was the worst I used! Never ever once it smoothened my lips, not to mention it gets sticky and that sticky sensation never goes away with your hair all over your face :S

Burt’s Bees Sun Protecting Lip Balm SPF 8 – looks white on the lips and it’s very waxy (like all Burt’s Bees lip balms)
Yes To Carrots Lip Butter Pomegranate with SPF 15 – looks white on lips and you can’t get a nice thin layer of it, it goes on very heavily. The rest of the Yes to Carrots lip butters are my absolute favorite lip balms.
EOS – these are terrible! They don’t have SPF, but I have to mention that they are the worst lip balms I’ve ever tried (and I’m a lip balm junkie). They are annoyingly waxy, even worse than Burt’s Bees.

EOS actually make a lemon flavored balm with SPF. I haven’t tried it, but on my lips the EOS balms feel very conditioning. I usually use Labello or Nivea’s hydrobalm, but sometimes the EOS is kind of nice. I actually love the it feels on my lips. I’ve been wanting to start using a balm with SPF though…

Nivea Sun SPF 30 Lip Balm, It is very waxy and turns your lips white. I never wear it out, only when I lay out to tan. Too embarrassed to wear that on my lips if I go out in public.

Blistex Smoothies. My lips never peeled before, but the Smoothies made them peel. Yuck!
Thank goodness my lips went back to normal soon after I stopped using the Smoothies.
