Maybelline Lash Stiletto; it is a REALLY wet formula and just weighs my lashes down without doing any real lengthening. Also it flakes out badly onto the under eyes.

alisha in wi Avatar

Agree. Hate that mascara. But I will say, cuz I hated it, it sat there for a while and dried out. Once a bit drier, it did work better.

Katie Avatar

I 2nd this. Not only did it not lengthen or add volume to lashes, but it has a strong smell that makes my eyes water when I apply it.

Nikki Avatar

I like lash stiletto too! I prefer wet mascaras so that could be why and I enjoy the curvy brush..not the best ever but works well for me. I do agree it flakes though.

Annette Avatar

whaaat? the Stiletto is one of my favourite mascaras! my lashes got more lenght and it seperated my lashes great. I’m from Norway and but it there but it wouldn’t mather I think..

Lauren Avatar

That’s disappointing – I love this! I never have clumping problems and I have both the regular and waterproof versions. I do agree that it’s a wet formula, I usually let the wand dry for about 20 seconds before applying – maybe give that a shot?

sara Avatar

i have to defend one by one. I am obsessed with that mascara. Maybe its because i have tong lashes and it just makes mine thick. Also I use the waterproof version if that changes the consistensy. I think i will take that mascara to the grave with me.

Danni Avatar

My vote is for Estee Lauder’s Lash XL mascara. The formula’s dry, which I’m not a fan of. But more importantly, it takes about three coats to get my lashes to look as lengthened as does one coat of my favorite drugstore mascara. No good.

Xtina Avatar

This Q is way too specific! I don’t pay attention to what the mascara is supposed to do, I just know what I like. I purchased Dior Show recently and was uber disappointed. I think it’s supposed to be a volumizing mascara though. I have never sought out a lengthening mascara — just volumizing or curling.

alisha in wi Avatar

I don’t like them in general. Sometimes I feel like the volumizing ones give more length anyway. But then again, I think mascara preferences also have to do with what type of lashes you have and mine are on the longer side so maybe that is why they disappoint me.

amanda Avatar

i agree! anything that says volumizing has pretty much always given me more length than anything labelled lengthening.. so i usually get the ones labeled both! 😀

Sharron Avatar

L’Oreal Telescopic = instant smearage. The formula is super wet, and takes forever to dry. Plus, it made my eyes sting like crazy.

Surmayee Avatar

oh my goodness, same problem here. that combined with the fact that it made my eyelashes look like spider’s legs. i really wanted to like this mascara too! i ended up giving it away!

Laura Avatar

People may disagree, but the Michael Todd Great Lengths Mascara is by far my least favorite. It does lengthen, but is clumpy, transfers, and is difficult to get off. Just my 2 cents…

trillium Avatar

I’ve actually had good luck with that one. It definitely does nothing for volume, but if I’m looking for natural looking length this works for me. I find it make a few clumps but they are easy to comb out.

Sarah D Avatar

My eyelashes are already quite long but I am always testing out different mascaras. Maybelline Great Lash is awful! It does absolutely nothing for me, I really don’t get the “hype”.

amanda Avatar

i love great last, it was the first mascara i used-dyou let it dry between coats? you arent supposed to. many people dislike it because it clumps, doesnt accomplish anything, etc, but you have to really wiggle it and DO NOT let it dry between coats. give it a try =] its been around like what, a hundred years?

Chloe Avatar

Poor Maybelline Lash Stiletto is getting grilled here. I have the volumizing one and it works well for me. Length, volume, no clumps. It can rub off underneath after a long day but my eyes are VERY prone to that.
Funny how different people can get totally different results with the same product.

Tiffani Avatar

Hmm, Lash Stiletto is one of my favorites, actually. My lashes are very long but stick straight, and they tend to curl into themselves instead of up, which sucks. The heaviness of Lash Stiletto kept them from doing that, and then lightly curling them while the mascara was still tacky. I really dislike Covergirl’s lengthening mascaras, and the one by Rimmel in the metallic tube. It smeared EVERYWHERE, ugh.

Maybelline.

Also: MAC Colourizations: Double Feature Eyeshadow Duos were at the MAC counter in the bay today up here in Canada!

Maureen Avatar

Physicians Formula used to make this mascara called F.L.A.T… There was something strange about the packaging, I don’t remember what. I looked like I was wearing falsies.

Maureen Avatar

Sorry, that is the BEST one I’d ever tried. The worst one I ever tried was some MAC mascara, because it made my eyes itch something FIERCE.

Molly-Anne Avatar

Lancome Hypnose Drama is my all time FAVORITE mascara. It’s my holy grail mascara, that’s so shocking that you dislike it.

Alyssa Avatar

Mascara reacts differently on different lashes, so that’s why some mascaras work on some but not others. Pretty much all makeup is like that, you shouldn’t be too shocked when someone doesn’t like your holy grail…or when you don’t like someone else’s favorite.

Candace Dessert Avatar

mine was cover girl lash blast for length .. the yellow tube… worst.. i have to agree though with other posters… i love lash stiletto… for length… after a week or 2 after opening its fantastic on my sparse lashes 🙂

Kelsey Avatar

I agree with the vast majority of people here. I hated Lash Stiletto as well. Great lash is a classic, it may not have worked for some people but millions of people love it, so…yeah. I also don’t like Too Faced Lash Injection. I used to, but the latest tube I got was way to dry, and it flaked.

Quinctia Avatar

So, I don’t know about all time worst, because I’m not a mascara expert (I only use it with some heavier eyeshadow looks), but my holy grail mascara is supposed to be a lengthening mascara. However, I don’t find it extending my legnth that much, but it volumizes a LOT for me. Maybelline XXL Extensions.

I obviously don’t care that it’s not that lengthening, because it makes my eyelashes look great, but I’ve always found it kind of funny that it worked out that way.

Carissa Avatar

Maybelline’s Lash Stiletto, and I was going to say this before even reading the comments. Clumps like crazy, and makes my lashes look like spiders. I’ve repurchased once or twice to see if maybe I’ll have better luck next time, but there is nothing appealing about this mascara to me whatsoever. Probably the worst I’ve ever tried.

Therese Avatar

I have to defend CG LashBlast Length, here 🙂

It’s my go-to everyday mascara (the waterproof version). Never clumps, and I can use it straight out of the tube, no wiping, one coat. Awesome.
However, I have reasonably thick, long lashes, they just need pigment added. Clumping mascaras that run are my bugaboo. If you’re looking for any kind of volumizer, this is not the mascara for you 🙂

Anything that says it’s waterproof and almost all mascaras sold in the grocery store/corner smaller drug stores. I never even bought Maybelline Lash Stiletto – knew better not to waste my $ despite the drugstore has a ‘can return anything for $ back on makeup.’ As a teen I used to use the Maybelline one that is in the pink with the green cap that is still made today. I now look for mascaras that don’t dry my lashes out, make them fall out. I would rather have soft (not crunchy) lashes all day long vs. the longest lashes that are fried!

Liz Avatar

I did not like Hypnose Drama at all either. I hear Hypnose is better, but I purchased the Drama thinking it would be better, but I didn’t like, especially for the price I was not impressed at all. It didn’t seem to do much for me at all.

Jenny Avatar

I can’t think of it’s actual name, but the bourjois mascara with the 2 tubes? One for lengthening on for voluminising. THE WORST EVER. It clumped ALL my lashes together and was just a nightmare to get off. Regret wasting my money -_-‘

depu1056 Avatar

For me the worst mascara is HELENA RUBISTEIN LASH QUEEN FELINE EXTRAVAGANZA!!! It does make your lash longer but it flakes out really badly under the eyes. For waht it cost that shoul not happen at all.

MR Avatar

My worst mascara was Lights Camera Splashes by Tarte. It made my lashes look like spiders, it clumped my lashes together and my lower and upper lashes kept sticking together even after it dried. I gave it to my sister who is not at all picky about mascara and she decided to throw it out after one use.

Cover Girl Lash Blast Fusion – ewwww! The fibers would end up all over my cheeks by the middle of the day – not a pretty look!
