The Body Shop’s aloe lip care. It comes in a light green tube. I think it may be similar to Jack Black. It’s made my lips so much better after I started using it.

You know, I was so excited to try the Nuxe, but when I got hold of some on Singapore, it dried my lips out! I was very sad (although I got a cold and it did do well at soothing my red nose, so there’s that!).

OT: I use whatever’s on the go at the time (unless it’s tinted – don’t want to cover my pillowcase in dye now) 😛 At the moment it’s a Nivea one, I think.

Right now, Bite Agave Lip Mask. But if things are really dire, nothing, I mean nothing, works better than German Nivea (has to be produced in Germany, not Mexico or Asia).

Smith’s Rosebud Salve! It’s too greasy for daytime use, but I slather it all over my lips and around my nose (skin gets dried out there b/c of allegies) and everything feels so soft the next morning. It lasts forever too! Bath & Body Works has a similar version that I’ve used and I like that one, too.

Lansinoh HPA Lanolin. Lanolin is the only thing that works for me during the day and overnight, 15+ years of chronic peeling dry lips and I finally determined petroleum products just don’t work for me. Exfoliating with a washcloth every morning and lanolin at all times keeps my lips plump and flake free, truly wonderful.

right now i am using La Mer which is really nice, i didnt like the dior one total bust. The bite lip mask is working out really well for me too

After reading how much you love the jack black I have become seriously addicted to it over the past year…..I have 8 tubes at all times! I just got the bite agave lip mask and I must say it is incredible….I wear the bite at bedtime and the jack black all day:)

Fresh advance therapy lip balm (white) the best ever since I discover it at sephora I kept buying it and I have emptied it down at the bottom of tube. And then there was a hype for the Dior creme
De rose it’s my second best I know a lot people where a fan of it but sometimes I wake up with little hydration left sometimes non at all compare to fresh lip balm when I wake up I can still feel the hydrating effect of the balm.

Nothing beats Bite Beauty’s Agave Lip Mask, in my experience but I have 3 others I like enough to finish up – Jack Black (and I like it for day because of the SPF), Nuxe Reve de Miel (the one in the pot) and one from Clarins in a light blue tube with a similar design to the Jack Black squeeze tubes. I guess I’m a bit spoiled for choice with lip balms.

Meghan Avatar

Nuxe Reve de Miel! Super hydrating, really creamy, & love the scent. While it’s pricey, the pot of it has lasted a long time & you get a good amount of product. On the bad side, it is in a pot (germy) & the stick version just isn’t as hydrating!

Nuxe Reve de Miel lip balm! It feels a little heavy at first, but the warmth of your lips helps it melt a bit.
I apply a thin layer on my lips at night, and when I wake up the next morning, I can still feel there’something at work there – plus it smells really nice (honey, but not in a sickly sweet way). Also, a little goes a long way!
Cheers from Switzerland!

yep – lanolin is the only thing that works for me too. I have lips that tend to peel and this is the only thing that actually seems to heal them up….and I feel like I have tried everything else!
I buy the lanolin in chapstick like tubes on amazon.

I have searched high and low for a good lip balm. One that contains no mineral oil (like Jack Black) or SPF. Sadly, SPF makes my lips peel. My absolute favorite is a local brand called Abbey Brown. It’s handcrafted, super cheap with a ton of product for the price and simply fabulous.

Aveda is rich and thick. It’s a good but pricier second choice.

I like the Jack Black lip balms, keep them at my desk and in my makeup kit, but I really like First Aid Beauty Intense Lip Therapy. I like the minty medicinal flavor and it’s less shiny than the Jack Black one. I don’t like my lips to be too slippery when I go to bed, I know, that’s when you’re supposed to not care about it, because you’re sleeping. I just don’t like it at night! I have had clients complain to me that EOS burned them. I had one client come in and she had visible redness and peeling. I can’t wear them, thought I’d try it for myself and they don’t hydrate one bit. Feels like they suck the moisture out of my lips. I know a TON of people love them..so it must be something in it that only effects a small number of us, you know?

For me, La Mer is the best. During the day, I wear Cle de Peau. I also wear the Cle de Peau under lipstick for a smooth application and a satiny glow. Very classy looking, IMO.

Gena Avatar

Which La Mer and Cle de Peau products are you using EXACTLY, Mimi? I really want to try them, but I found several different products and I want to buy the right ones.

I’ve been looking at trying the Bite Beauty and La Mer ones. At the moment, Jack Black. When my lips are very dry, as they have been lately, I just use coconut oil.

makura Avatar

I bought the Bite agave lip mask that everyone is raving about and returned it because it here was nothing special about it, IMO.it was very thick and goopy and did not moisturizer any better than other lower end stuff out there.I still like the original Sugar balm and the Jack Black isn’t bad either.

* TokyoMilk Dark Lip Elixir — Available in a variety of amazing flavors. This has the texture of very thick petroleum. I slather it on before bedtime and wake up to lips that are ready to be exfoliated to baby butt softness.

* Bobbi Brown Lip Balm — This is my original obsession. I absolutely adore the texture and the way it heals my lips through and through. It actually feels quite similar to Baume de Rose, just very slightly waxier (which is actually better for use overnight).

* By Terry Baume de Rose — ‘Nuff said.

I LOVE ELIZABETH ARDEN EIGHT HOUR CREAM. I HAVE BEEN USING THIS FOR YEARS. IT KEEPS MY LIPS FULL , WELL MOISTURIZED, AND WRINKLE-FREE. THE DOWN SIDE IS THAT IT IS STRONG SMELLING, BUT IN MY OPINION, WELL WORTH IT. IT SELLS FOR ABOUT $18. BUT THE TUBE IS LARGE.

Dani Avatar

Defintely Lansinoh Lanolin. I used it when I was breastfeeding my daughter. I had almost a full tube left. I tried it on my lips when they were really chapped, figuring its meant to help chapped, cracking nipples, why couldn’t it work on lips. And it worked amazingly! No other nighttime lip products compare for me. And I have tried A LOT.

I use a Nivea hydrating one. It’s not strongly scented or flavoured and is wonderfully moisturising. Before that I used a Lipsyl one for years and years, but I couldn’t find it when my last one ran out, and I think the Nivea one is better. In the day time I have another Nivea one that is “pearl and shine” and has a slight sheen and pink (but quite subtle)

This is the one I use at night

I have to be very careful with lip balms as I’m severely allergic to almonds and almond oil is a common moisturising ingredient. 🙁 The Jack Black one you always rave about, Christine, has almond oil in which is such a shame as it sounds wonderful!

Honestly, any chapstick under a layer of vaseline does the trick for me! I like the kind with cocoa butter in it because it smells better and makes me feel better about slathering my lips in vaseline lol.

Nicole Avatar

I have a cheap and an expensive favorite. The luxurious one is Baume d’Rose (By Terry) and the cheap one is Neutrogena Lipcare (bag-friendlier)

Nancy Dav Avatar

The Dior crème de rose lip balm. A lot of people think it’s overrated but I think it’s awesome. It smells good and makes your lips really smooth the next day and it’s not sticky.
