My top picks… Love, love the Hakuhodo J5523, because it’s soft, not too dense or sparse.

I’ve always been a fan of the MAC 217. As my eyes are hooded, I don’t need an extensive amount of subtle blending, particularly in the crease region, so it works quite well for what I need.
The MAC 217 for me, hands down!
MAC 217
MAC 217 and Illamasqua blending brush but I´m already planing to buy the Tom Ford blending brush 😀
For someone on a budget, the Coastal Scents blending brushes(natural bristles) are amazing! I have the Pro Blending brush, Classic blender natural, and the Classic Blender Crease Natural. I used to try and blend out my eyeshadows using a synthetic brush, and once I changed to a natural brush, it completely changed my shadow game.
G5522BkSL from hakuhodo I want to buy like 10,000 backups because it blends my eyeshadow like a dream
Mac 224
Mac 217
Stila 9
Studio Gear 34
Sigma E45
MAC 217!
Sigma E25/MAC 217, and Sigma E40 🙂
MAC 217, hands down! I have and like the 224 but the 217 blends so well and is useful for so many application techniques and effects.
Mac 224 and 217 depending on what I to do.
I’m with Barbie on this one. Hakuhodo G5522BkSl is a blue squirrel/goat blend that is as soft as the proverbial kitten’s paw and yet has enough substance to blend shadows seamlessly. When blending cream shadows, I love Tom Ford’s blender brush. It’s also ultra soft but a bit stiffer.
My SK 109 and another brush from a different company (no name/number on the handle) that I got in an Ipsy bag. The 109 is my HG love. It’s fluffy and just perfect for blending out and softening the look of the es and also doing an all over wash of es; while the other brush because it’s not as big or fluffy as the 109, gives a more defined crease.
The best I’ve tried is the Sephora #10 pro brush. It’s so nice and fluffy!
MAC 217 & 224.
…my pinky finger?
I’m still trying to find a brush that I like, and the ones available here are all so expensive (relatively speaking), that I’m having a hard time committing! I’m trying to save up the ~$70 for the MAC 217, because I’ve heard so many good things about it!
MAC 224
The Trish McEvoy 29 Tapered Blending is the softest I’ve used, blends out everything so nicely, and is a good length for ease of use
Hakuhodo J142.
Sonia Kashuk Large Crease Brush #116
MAC 224 hands down. I own 3 and as I have big eyes and a lot of lid estate I need a big brush for blending.
I really like the bareMinerals Soft Focus Shadow Brush. If my eye looks needs some serious blending, then I go over everything with the Real Techniques Setting Brush.
Whichever coastal scents brush is in their black 22 piece kit. I don’t think it has a specific number or anything, but that brush is awesome. Especially if you’re on a budget. 🙂
Mac 286. By far. Find the 217 and all its dupes to be rather harsh and scratchy. So i apply whatever with the 217 or any other, and then use the 286 to blend and soften the edges. The pointy tip makes it perfect to work the crease and since is so soft you can really work the product without destroying your eye lid.
To be honest, I’ve only purchased eye makeup brushes from MAC within the last 6 years and I find them very satisfactory. I actually prefer the 286 for blending, it’s like the 217 and 224 in one if that makes sense. I like the 217, but it sheds, it could be my fault, I don’t know. I have two of them and I think I only have issues with one. I rarely pick up the 224 unless I’m applying a dark crease color and I want it applied softly.
Honestly? The $1 Elf Blending Eye Brush I found at target. Works amazingly well and is soft “enough”. I’ve bought a few ransoms in the past month and this distributes shadow and blends perfect for me.
The softest synthetic blender brush is the Too Faced crease/blender brush that comes in their three piece eye brush kit. The softest natural hair blender brush is any of the Wayne Goss the collection eye brushes.
