Have you ever tried or completed a makeup challenge?
I can’t recall if I have… nothing is sticking out in my mind, though it’s hard to believe I’ve never done anything, at least in my pre-blogging days.

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

I recently enrolled in a couple of them!
Firstly, I joined the “12 before Christmas” project pan. I included products I want to give more love to and that pair nicely (mostly to encourage myself to use the lip products that I put in this project).
I also take part in the #projectweeklysingles on IG. The idea behind the challenge is to select shades from palettes or available singles in one’s stash to create a coherent colour story and have fun with it. I’ve created 3 looks so far and it has been a blast! It got me trying different techniques already.
No, but I’d love to be pointed in the direction of them. I’m just at the point where I’m feeling competent with what I can do with makeup, and it’d be nice to be pushed a bit out of my confidence zone to get better. (I’m reading the inspired/ uninspired threads of late and thinking, I don’t know enough to even begin to answer that question- most of my palettes are untold possibilities that I can’t get my head around yet!)
Try r/makeuprehab.
I have been doing a lipstick challenge since the start of this year.i use a different lipstick every day and night. I have way too many lipsticks and figured out thats how I will be able to use all of them rather than using the same one over and over again.
That’s interesting. I have sort of an opposite problem. I never use any of my lipsticks enough to use any of them up!
I’m torn between (1) Limiting myself to a few lipsticks until they get used up, which is hard to do because I get bored too easily, or (2) using different lipsticks every time so I get use out of all of them, which is what I’m doing right now. Neither way is working for me. I’m stuck somewhere in the middle. I have way too many lipsticks!
Maybe open up your limited selection to give you more variety but still keeping it less than your entire range? It’ll give you more variety but still help use things up more than the whole kit and caboodle.
Yes, I’m in the middle of a challenge right now! This challenge is to use one eyeshadow palette for a week (weekends not included). Last week was Sweet Peach. I made it through four days, and cheated on the fifth day because I got bored with it. But it was successful in that I found one look that I really like, which is good because I usually struggle with this palette..
This week I’m using my brand new eyeshadow palette, The Emily Edit—The Wants. I think there is enough variety here that I won’t get bored with it over the course of five days. Today is day one, and I love the look I created. I’m looking forward to doing something totally different tomorrow.
Another challenge I do is choose five lipsticks on Sunday evening to wear during the work week. I try to choose five that don’t get enough love. I’ve started this challenge many times, but have never completed it. But I keep trying anyway. I think today’s lipstick (MAC Kinda Sexy) will definitely get more use in the future.
I participated in “theme days” on a couple of boards and several years ago I challenged myself to do a month-long series where I wore (and photographed) a different lipstick every day. I’ve been meaning to do that again since most of the ones that I featured (posted here: http://morelikespace.blogspot.com/p/30-days-of-lips.html) are discontinued and my taste has expanded a lot since then.
I tried to pan MAC embark. I used that shadow everyday for a year and still did not hit pan. It is packed super tight. I was so disgusted that I couldn’t finish it I just gave up and stopped using it. Ugh. Aftert that I was done with panning projects.
Yes, and it was quite fun actually! Belong to a Facebook group that used to have a daily challenge. During that time, I was not only using up my products little by little every day, but also stretching my imagination and re-honing my skills.
My only difficulty was my own initial reactions to a few challenges that I had to work through.
Many, I belong to a group that did daily makeup challenges for a year. Then we devolved into a general beauty chat group. lol
I’ve done a few in the Phyrra Facebook group, too.
No, I haven’t and I don’t think I would either.
I do PAW to rotate through my palettes, a lipstick roulette, and my very own pan to the can challenge where I pick out all of my products that are showing pan with the hopes of finishing them up.
Sort of, but nothing official (i.e. presented as a challenge by an individual or group): I was trying to do the “palette a month” thing earlier this year to give my eyeshadow palettes some love, but got distracted by lipsticks and switched to “lip color a day” instead. Outside of that, no.
